Baku v Meznik battling it out for a spot in the Semi Finals
Meep is hosting a tournament to determine the Warlords Chief for the upcoming Council of the Warlords. Contestants fight to the death and spectators watch in anticipation to see who will become the leader.
What initiated the idea of having a “The Council of the Warlords?”
There are a lot of players with leadership experience, communication skills, and PvP know-how and we've seen loads of success with our ComDev and ComArch teams, so we figured that it'd be awesome for the server--and fun for the players--if they were to be more involved in designing our Combat server. - @LordInateur
The idea really came from discussing kitpvp and how none of us currently on the team have a true PvP background. Our next question was asking who does, and how can we get them involved? - @CluelessKlutz
What was the reason for making it player-governed?
I'm not a huge fan of micromanagement--it's a waste of my time and a waste of the Warlords' time. We've found that passionate players who are given more creative freedoms and decision-making power are much more likely to produce higher-quality gamemodes--and so we thought that making it primarily governed by the players was probably one of the better ways to provide that opportunity to players who might not want to deal with the bureaucracy that full staff members deal with. And frankly, who better to design the Combat Server than those who will primarily be using it? - @LordInateur
“The Council of Warlords” sounds very powerful. What inspired this name?
I mean, it sounds cooler than "ComPVP" or whatever--and my intent was to have it operate much differently than the other Community branches that we have. ComDev and ComArch are headed up by the Techs and Architects, respectively--but the Warlords are headed up by the best of them, are governed by their own rules, and are generally advised--not directed--by the staff. Whereas ComArch and ComDev really get projects tossed to them by the staff, we're hoping that the Warlords toss ideas in the other direction. Since it's more autonomous, a "Council" seems more appropriate--and since they're going to be fighting for right to rule, "Warlords" sounded appropriate. - @LordInateur
What has been the most challenging aspect of the tournament?
Probably coordinating times, most duels happen late at night however we have had a couple at difficult times to host. For example Mez vs Grev was around noon my time on a work day. Additionally some people are not available at all during the same times so finding a time to host can be difficult. - @AdrianBFaust
The most challenging aspect has been coordinating the fights with people on opposite sides of the globe that do not have an overlapping schedule when they can be online. Or if there are overlapping schedules, it is often difficult to find a staff member that can run the event smoothly with placing people in /gmsp and giving contestants the correct kits. - @BooBear1227
What has been the most interesting aspect about hosting events?
Probably watching the fights, they're always fun to watch if you are rooting for someone. Additionally, although most fights have been blow out wins, the few close ones we have had have been super fun to watch. What has been the best fight to watch? - @AdrianBFaust
What has been the best fight to watch?
My favorite fight so far by a long shot is Meznik vs Baku. It was a really really close match and both of them are very talented. - @CluelessKlutz
Meznik vs Baku easily, definitely two of the better fighters in the match. I went in expecting it to be a run-away win for baku, but during that first fight Meznik absolutely destroyed baku, going up 1-0. That match could have gone either way, and was super fun to watch. - @AdrianBFaust
Unfortunately, I have not been able to attend all events, but I have been at a few of them. Overall the fights that need to go to the third round to determine a winner have been the best to watch. Katronica vs Viperfan was interesting and fun to watch with amazing commentary from SurvivingSwords. Meznik vs Baku was also very interesting because it was expected Baku would take out Mez in just two rounds, but they had to go to a third to determine it because Meznik had an amazing first fight. I am looking forward to the semi-finals and the final match up in determining the Warlord. - @BooBear1227
Have there been any surprises with the tournament?
I was surprised with the amount of people who signed up. I was expecting around 8 players to compete. We had to make a couple of adjustments to the tournament such as making it double elim to fit the amount of participants. - @AdrianBFaust
The biggest surprise is the number of people wanting to use sumo rounds to determine who moves on. The platform was created at the request of one the first matches, shiroppy vs chloeunicorn12. It has since become quite a requested mode of battle. I was expecting more people to ask for different kits than the default one that was decided on. - @BooBear1227
Can you tell us a little about the build? Style? Aesthetic you were going for?
We wanted to recreate the terrarium in the 2014 spawn. It was a nice build but it was small and cramped so we decided to remake it. - @AdrianBFaust
Does the squid have a name?
No one knows spider squid's name. - @AdrianBFaust
Is there anything else you would like to share with us?
Yes - @AdrianBFaust
Story-time with the Crew: “The Light Show (Specials Part One)” by @smkorpi
“Ica, I’m going to count to twenty, and you are going to hide,” Ica’s mother said.
“When I’ve finished counting I will search for your hiding spot until I’ve found you. It’s called Hide ‘n Seek; it was a game that Mommy played when she was a little girl like you.”
Ica was off like a shot from a cannon, desperately searching for a hiding spot in their little three-room apartment. Five seconds passed, and the only potential hiding spot she’d found had been a pile of clothes next to the bed. By ten seconds, Ica had darted into the kitchen and was frantically opening cabinets. Before she could decide on a spot, her mother reached twenty, and the hunt began. In a flurry of motion, seven year old Ica scrambled under the tiny kitchen table, hoping the tattered table cloth would hide her.
Her mother began searching the kitchen. “I think I heard a little mouse playing with the cabinets. You wouldn’t happen to be,” she paused. “Here!” and jerked open the cabinet under the sink.
Ica heard her mother’s shoes tapping against the kitchen tiles as she searched, the rhythm of her feet seeming to fade in and out as she searched the apartment. A tingling sensation overcame Ica’s body, and her vision became blurry. Her mother raised the table cloth and looked at the spot on the floor where Ica lay, but saw nothing. She searched for another fifteen minutes to no avail; she could not find her daughter.
“Ica, hunny, where are you hiding?” She asked, her voice wavering. “You’ve won this round, Mommy can’t find you. Would you come out of your spot?” Sounds reached the child, who was collapsed under the kitchen table, but the words fell on empty ears.
An hour went by, and bright blue lights illuminated the kitchen table. Her mother screeched and rushed to close the blinds. After checking that the door was locked and the blinds closed, she ran to Ica, whose body had reappeared underneath the table.
As her mother raised the table cloth, she gasped, and saw four light blue lines traveling diagonally across her daughter’s shoulders toward her chest. Moments later, the fifth and sixth notches began to form. Ica’s smooth skin began to stretch, until it tore, and the girl’s pulsing shoulder lights finally began to dim, and Ica finally began to stir.
A mother looked down on her child, her eyes brooding and her shoulders tense. Her expression was emotionless, but on the inside worry was beginning to creep in. Ica had her Awakening.

- Thread: An Update Regarding Updates
Hello everyone! I know it's been a while since a public forums update has been posted. However today I'd like to discuss one of the most frequently asked questions I see: When are we updated to 1.13.x or 1.14.x?
The short answer is: We're not. As hard of a decision as it is to not update the server to the latest Minecraft versions, the administration team has made this decision with server gameplay as the best reason not to update. I'll be frank and say that while Mojang has many good ideas and concepts that they've implemented in newer versions, they're honestly broken, bug-ridden messes. Now, I don't think it's fair to say that without backing it up, so here's some actual data on the situation.
Random Ticks
This test was done by running the game as fast as possible using the tickwarp command in Carpet mod on grass blocks in a superflat world with mob spawning turned off to simply test random tick speed game impact. (If you are unfamiliar with carpet mod, it is a vanilla enhancement modification for the game that allows more data to be displayed such as exact game ticks per second and making the game run faster.) Here are the results:
Entire Game
When running a test that tickwarps an entire minecraft day as fast as the game possibly allows in a normal world with no changes or interaction from the player inside a Savannah biome, we get these results:
Pistons
This test was run with shaking pistons in the following setup.
These pistons will constantly fire when the levers are pulled as a toggle. Here are the results of a tickwarp:
Redstone Dust
For those familiar with the game's internal workings, you will know redstone dust is actually one of the worst redstone components you can use. With that said, kudos to Mojang for actually improving on this one:
Entity Collision
Another one with credit to Mojang on working on thanks to 1.14's new collision engine, 400 hopper minecarts in one block produces this result:
Villagers
Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for villagers. Due to 1.14's expanded processing for villagers, having 100 villages encased in glass (to prevent pathing from causing lag) produces this result:
Beacons
Typically beacons have little to no impact on server performance, but somehow even this was changed in newer versions. Having 2204 beacons in a superflat world with all spawning turned off produces this result:
Lighting
Light updates have always been the absolute laggiest part of minecraft. A new lighting engine was implemented in 1.14 that dramatically improves the game. This was tested with a flying machine pushing a cobblestone roof over an empty world. This is easily the most compelling reason to support an update to 1.14:
Raids
In case you are unaware of the new raid mechanic present in 1.14, allow me to quote the Minecraft Wiki, "A raid is an in-game event in which waves of illagers spawn in a village when a player with the Bad Omen status effect enters. Upon entering a village with the Bad Omen, the effect immediately disappears and a bossbar labeled "Raid" appears. Once the bar finishes charging, its charge decreases for every mob killed, showing the number of mobs still alive when there are less than three remaining. A horn sounds at the start of each wave and during the raid, centered on an illager or witch, and the village bell rings while the bossbar charges (In Java Edition, a villager rings the bell, while In Bedrock Edition it rings by itself). Each subsequent wave is larger, with more illagers (and witches), and more types of illagers." The mechanic also allows nearby mobs to join, and you cannot trade with villagers while a raid is ongoing. Sounds fun, right? Unfortunately, this is affected by multiple major issues. One of the biggest involves villager trading. See, when creating the raid system, Mojang implemented it globally rather than isolating it to the local village. This means while a raid is ongoing, nobody on the server would be allowed to trade with villagers. Additionally, all mobs that could join the raid within 40,000+ blocks are summoned towards that location. This means every valid mob in the towny world would suddenly drop what it was doing and walk towards whoever set off a raid. As you can imagine, this generates incredible amounts of lag.
Dropped Items
Later testing in 1.14 discovered that dropped items produce nearly six times as much lag as in 1.12 (1.13 was not tested against).
Hoppers
Servers have always had issues with hoppers, given they are a component which generates lag simply by existing in the world. Testing 1.14 found that hoppers generate 4x as much lag even when they are not collecting as many items.
Chunk Loading
As of 1.14, the game cannot keep up with a player moving more than 20 blocks per second (which is slower than an elytra) and you will have to slow down simply for the chunks to be able to generate below you to see where you are going. In 1.14, the game also keeps an additional 11 chunks loaded beyond your set render distance. Assuming you use the default Minecraft render distance of 12, this will keep 23 chunks loaded behind you at all times, while only loading 12 chunks in every other direction.
Spawn Chunks
Spawn chunks inside of minecraft are the chunks around the world spawnpoint in the Overworld. The spawn chunks are special due because they are an area that is never unloaded as long as a player is in the overworld. In minecraft 1.12, the spawn chunks consisted of about 2x2 chunks that were kept loaded in memory at all times, with 2 chunks around them in every direction being loaded as "lazy chunks." If you are unfamiliar with lazy chunks, they are chunks kept somewhat loaded in memory, but don't behave the same way. They do not process entities or most redstone, but they do keep track of the number of mobs in them and count towards the world mob cap. Spawn chunks have been used by vanilla players as a place to build farms as they will always be running even if you are not nearby. In Minecraft 1.14, this was changed so that the spawn chunks consist of a 3x3 chunk area, with an additional 2 lazy chunks loaded in every direction. This means that more chunks are loaded than in 1.12 at all times, therefore generating more lag. Additionally, a bug exists where if a player visits the spawn chunks, the game loads an additional 3 chunks out from the lazy chunks and keeps them all loaded as lazy chunks. This means the spawn region becomes 3x3 permanently loaded chunks, with a total area of 11x11 chunks due to having a radius of 5 lazy chunks in all directions.
Mob Cap
In Minecraft 1.14, villagers and iron golems were changed to count towards the peaceful mobcap. This seems reasonable enough if you do not understand how Minecraft's mob caps work. Generally, there are two main types of mob caps: hostile and peaceful. The hostile mob cap sets a serverwide cap on how many monsters can spawn in order to prevent players from being overwhelmed by large numbers of monsters, as well as preventing lag. The mobcap is only affected by mobs in loaded chunks. The game also despawns hostile monsters that are more than 128 blocks from a player if chunks are loaded, the mob is not named, and is not a special entity type such as Withers, Ender Dragons, and Shulkers. The peaceful mobcap applies the same concept except the mobs do not naturally despawn. In 1.12, this counts pigs, sheep, horses, etc. Due to the change to villagers in 1.14, having villagers and iron golems loaded prevents actual peaceful mobs from spawning.
Spigot
Meepcraft's internal servers run on the Spigot minecraft server software at their core. This has been the case for numerous years. The development team at spigot has been at work for many years and are quite familiar with Minecraft development. They've had major issues with 1.13 and 1.14 as well. From the main developer of Spigot upon 1.13's release, he advised "The safest route at this point in time is to not carry over any data from 1.12.2. Of course migration of old data is possible and is worth testing for the benefit of future owners, but keep in mind that even the Vanilla world migration may introduce subtle irreparable destruction to your world that may not be immediately obvious." This post was made when discussing 1.14.1, 1.14.2, and 1.14.3:
"In particular, it is often still asked "when will Spigot 1.14 be released?". The simple answer to this question is that it is already available for public access. The more nuanced answer is that it is available as a "development build". The characteristics of a development build include the following:
- It is not the default version available. You are required to use the --rev argument to BuildTools to retrieve it.
- It is aimed primarily at developers and experienced server owners.
- There is a higher than usual chance that running such a version may cause irreparable damage to your map. Even if the damage is not irreparable, it is unlikely that attempts to fix such damage will be made - you must restore from a backup.
- The usual API stability guarantees do not apply. A previously valid plugin using new API features may be broken from one build to the next.
- Similarly a previously valid server configuration may not be valid in a later build.
- eg the current requirement that all world names be lower case
- Updates are very frequent, usually several versions a day.
What does this mean for the server going forward?
For these reasons and others, the Meepcraft administration team has decided we will not be updating past Minecraft 1.12 at this time, or ever, until a newer version has the performance and stability to ensure the best possible gameplay experience for you as the player. Just recently, a snapshot released by Mojang caused a memory leak in any world opened with it that caused permanent damage to the world file (1.14.4 pre-release 3). To prevent loss of player data and support the work everyone here has dedicated to Meepcraft in the last 2 and a half years, we feel it is the best choice to remain in 1.12 to ensure your hard work is not damaged. Essentially, we will support players connecting with newer versions of Minecraft if they choose to use them for their client. We currently support all minecraft versions between our native 1.12 and the latest release of 1.14.3 at the time of writing this. If you have any questions, feel free to ask below! Thanks!

The question for this issue is: What’s your favorite job perk and why?
The winner to last week’s Meeptimes question was @Vexmae , who loved the teamwork involved in playing /warp cmobs!
The Project: The Jobs Revamp
What is the Jobs Revamp?
The Jobs Revamp is a complete makeover for the previous jobs system that adds dozens of new features, balances, and benefits to make it worthwhile for any player to try their hand at. Read more about the thinking behind the system here.
Who was involved in this project?
- @CluelessKlutz - Lead the general project and implementation
- @MasterofBoom @qazini @EnergyAssassin and @Midnight_Galaxy - Assisted in creating the layout and perks
We interviewed a few avid players to get their thoughts on the new system.
What are the biggest changes with the new jobs system?
Way more money is the first thing, and also the perks. - @Magnoot
Well I found the old jobs system was more about “here join them all and see how much money you can make going about your day”. Now we have rewards and incentives and a reason to actually try leveling up and grinding jobs. - @zsuzsu
It’s creating a more competitive dynamic and people are noticeably enjoying earning meebles. It’s also fueling Klutz’s sneakily implemented clay monopoly. - @Achmed
Well, for starters, there are a few different jobs that pay for a larger range of things than old jobs. Like artist for example, I can smelt thousands of clay and get paid for it. The cooperation aspect is also fun. I could hire diggers to get me clay, smelt the clay, then sell the smelted clay to builders. While a blacksmith makes the tools for the digger and the miner, and a miner gets me coal. They all work together fluidly. - @_Peero_
How is it impacting Meep?
Inflating the economy and bringing back more players. - @Magnoot
Well, in my opinion it has already started to impact Meepcraft for the better. We have seen more players active and I would attribute that to the new jobs. As far as future I believe it holds a lot of positive growth. - @Philippians
New jobs will make me really rich unless Clue changes it. Also the noobs that have no idea what they’re doing are going to suffer. - @LargeUnit
I feel like it’s devaluing meebles. But at the same time allowing new players to gain substantial worth of their own. - @Epixaid
More meebles for Achmed. I can make as much money at as great a rate as when I was duping. Just without the duping. It also seems very popular among players and is helpful in keeping new players. - @Achmed
Definitely extremely positive. Player count has been up dramatically the past few days, and I’ve seen a lot of old players returning to play with the jobs. The economy is stimulated, cause new pwarps are beginning to open revolving around jobs, like mine and Clue’s clay pwarps. And overall it’s a new competitiveness with gtop to see who can be the best. Not to mention the perks that bring back a lot of old features everyone enjoyed, like silk mining spawners. - @_Peero_
What’s your favorite job so far?
I don’t have a favorite job really, just grinding out money and levels. Personally, I’ve been only using the builders job cause I want to get to level 100 before Alexxx. But after that I’ll be using the digging and mining jobs. - @Magnoot
Both Hunter and Mystic go very well together. You need to acquire experience points to enchant your items for Mystic and you get the xp by grinding mobs and killing them which is good for Hunter. If I had to choose one to be my favorite, I would have to say mystic. I enjoy grinding for xp and then enchanting items. It is fun to see what I get and to then combine objects to create a better object that has more use to me. I suppose I kept it because I enjoy enchanting and grinding. - @Philippians
Woodcutter! Woodcutter is my favorite job because I enjoy breaking logs. I also enjoy woodcutter because I make lots of money! - @LargeUnit
I like blacksmith the most because I enjoy crafting items. Jobs now allowing stacked crafting is a great fix/addition. - @Epixaid
Hunter and farmer because I like spawners a lot and cause I can capture random stuff by just shooting at it. - @zsuzsu
Digger because I can make 2k every 10 seconds. And because I like gravel. - @Achmed
That’s hard to choose, but I’d have to go with Artist. I can pretty much afk for a while and make money just from letting clay smelt. I have people sell me clay, which I just throw into the smelter. Then I make 9+ meebles per block, and each level it goes up. Me and Clue are having a bit of a competition over it as well. Though Clue has blacksmith level 50, so he is allowed to use 50 furnaces for artist, as opposed to my 25. Still a blast though. - @_Peero_
What’s your overall opinion of the new system?
I personally believe that it brings forth much opportunity. I would like to say it is much better than the old system of jobs. I like the concept of working for the perks as well. - @Philippians
The new jobs system is very good! I think the new jobs system is going to break the economy! New jobs system is going to make rich people richer! Evil! - @LargeUnit
8/10. It gud. It’s interesting. I like the perks. So it gud. - @Epixaid
Well at first I was annoyed about some of the perks but after the first hour of being annoyed I eventually forgot about it. By then I had pretty much looked through all the jobs to find which I liked the best and settled on farmer and hunter. Sometimes it’s a bit tedious but overall it gives me something to do rather than endlessly random for raids. - @zsuzsu
It is quite lit. But it’s great. Lots of money and I can feel the eco tearing at the seams. It allows me to buy all sorts of things I don’t need. - @Achmed
It’s amazing. I love grinding the levels and the money I’ve made so far is a lot more than with the last jobs. It’s actually a lot of fun to level up. I prefer the leveling to the money in all honesty. - @_Peero_
Humans of MeepCraft ft. @tylerbrown922
Tyler enjoying a nice walk in his personal rain in front of his pwarp, /pwarp iron.
You’re a relatively new player. How and when did you find out about Meep?
I found it on the servers website about a week ago.
What’s been your favorite thing to do so far?
Well I mean everything’s great but the thing I like the most is the meebles and shops system. It’s like real life but in a game with blocks so it’s kinda like real life.
I hear you have a pwarp. How’s that going?
Not very well. Not many people have been there, so I’m thinking of closing it soon.
Oh no, that’s not good. Think we could get it some light in this Meeptimes issue?
Yea.
So, what do you do other than Meep?
Play on my playstation 3. But now school started and it’s not going well either.
What are your favorite games on that console?
Battlefield 3, Minecraft, Grand Theft Auto 5, Hitman, and Call of Duty.
I see you have batman posters on the wall of your house.
Yes, and my blanket on my bed.
You like superheros then?
A few. #1 is batman.
Why is he your favorite?
It’s because he’s sneaky and hidden in the dark, he’s stealthy.
If you were given 1 million meebles right now, what would you do with it?
Give my friends some of it and what I have left buy something nice. Probably a nice house or a town if I still have enough for that.
Anything else you’d like to add?
Well I’m selling lots of stuff - iron, coal, food, and more at /pwarp iron.
Welcomes and Farewells

The winner to last week’s Meeptimes question was @SpongeyStar, whose favorite candy is chocolate!
Humans of MeepCraft ft. @CaliWahine
@CaliWahine attending to business around her newly created town, Menegroth
You joined Meep quite recently. What have been your favorite parts of the server so far?
My favorite part of the server is the community aspect. We’re all interdependent and need each other to succeed, to survive, but there’s also an underlying competition. I love both.
You just created your town, Menegroth. What made you want to make one and how’s that going so far?
Yes! The town is going fantastic so far. It’s only been 20 hours and we’re already so successful! I was part of another town and just felt like I had so many better ideas and ways to make the town successful, but couldn’t implement them. I think being able to govern and work together to make it grow is a really unique experience.
What’s been the biggest challenge yet?
Balancing the money with how fast we are growing. We got lucky and had some investors that made it possible for us to do it so soon, but you really have to watch how much you expand and how quickly. Of course you want to claim as much land and expand, but you also don’t want to go bankrupt and be stressed out trying to sell land.
Anything else you’d like to add about Meep?
Nah, I think we covered a lot. I just want to see the server live. I’m meeting new people everyday (Like @Synergizer and I are now friends) and I just want things to keep looking up.
What are some of your hobbies away from the computer?
I really love tabletop RPGs. My bf and I have a whole stack of them under our coffee table and sometimes those are more fun than computer games. I also volunteer at our local Humane Society and take care of puppers when I get the chance. Those would be my top two hobbies outside of the net.
Do you mean stuff like D&D?
Um actually I prefer Pathfinder, but you can actually get boardgames that guide you through those types of scenarios without you fully having to create everything yourself. Some examples are Dominion, Legends of Andor, stuff like that.
I meant Descent, but we have Dominion too. Descent took like 2 hours for first-time setup, lol. They’re like the best RPG boardgames imo.
You also mentioned that you volunteer at a dog shelter. How did you get into that? How’s that like?
Well, I volunteer in my spare time. I mainly walk and do enrichment with adoption dogs, but just recently got cleared to work with dogs that are being held for other reasons. They’re “non-adoptable” dogs. I love it
It’s nice to dump everything else out of your brain and just focus on what you’re doing with that animal at the time, and it’s good exercise.
You prefer dogs to cats then?
Um yes lol I don’t understand cats. Anything that doesn’t like water I don’t understand lol.
Do you like swimming then?
Yeah I grew up swimming, played water polo in high school, and used to live on an island so swimming is part of me.
Mettekes, wandering onto the scene: Do you still have Mr. Upside Down Sheep? Did you kill it?
Mett, yeah, I killed him sorry, the town was expanding.
qazini: That’s going into the interview. Cali the Sheep Murderer
Welcomes and Farewells
Please give a hearty welcome to @Mettekes for joining the staff team as a helper!

Winner will be paid with the release of the next MeepTimes.
The question for this issue is: What if your favorite parkour map and why?
The correct answer to last week’s MeepTimes Contests is January 9th, 2012.
The Project - Airport Parkour
What is Airport Parkour?
The Airport map is a medium difficulty course that gets progressively harder has the course continues.
Who was involved in this project?
- @CluelessKlutz and @onceuponajano built the central map based on a boomo map created by @0zblox.
- @EllieEllie oversaw the entire process by directing the course, adjusting the map, creating the checkpoints and setting up the course in the plugin.
- @iKitten and @qazini assisted Ellie in creating the course.
Why do we need another parkour course?
New editions to Meep are always exciting, and a fresh parkour course is a nice way to relax from hustle and bustle of towny. - @qazini
It’s always super fun to have something new to do, and parkour has needed something new for quite a long time. Courses can be quite a bit of fun to build, as well. - @CluelessKlutz
I think that adding in another parkour course adds a bit of excitement to the server, but also we haven't added in any recently so it was time for something new. - @onceuponajano
I feel that adding another parkour course will boost excitement for new updates to parkour, and give everyone a new activity to try doing! - @iKitten
I think the current courses have been here for a very long time so it's nice to give the players something new. The last time that happened was the Christmas event and even then it was old parkour maps. - @EllieEllie
What makes Airport parkour unique?
I suppose people could look at this two ways depending if they like the map or not but it was put together solely by moderation staff using a couple of things from a prospective boomo map that had been discarded and adding a lot of our own content. Clue and Once were a big help in designing the environment. It's been nice to try something new since the only build I worked on before was the "coming soon" part of spawn. - @EllieEllie
I believe that because it was made by many members of staff, it combines all of everyone's building and parkouring skills together into one magical build. - @onceuponajano
It mixes several different types of parkour into one, with the fence parts, ladders, jumping from clouds, and more, which gives you a taste of multiple different ways of parkouring. - @iKitten
The course is fairly long, like city, but with lots of natural checkpoints and gives you plenty of opportunity to take in the whole map. - @qazini
Airport is pretty unique in a number of ways. Firstly, it’s the only course we’ve made in 1.12 and up, giving us access to things like concrete from the start. From a non technical standpoint, it has a very differently build style compared to older courses. It’s also one I can beat! - @CluelessKlutz
What is your favorite part of the course?
Honestly I like the clouds, but the planes are also really cool! - @iKitten
I love how the insides of the planes have turned out, Ellie did a wonderful job on decorating and planning out the parkour to work perfectly. - @onceuponajano
My favourite parts are the insides of the aeroplanes, I think they're pretty cool. - @EllieEllie
Honestly, I love the first checkpoint you reach in the course. You’ve been jumping up through the airport control tower. Dodging blocks and landing the right spots, you finally get to the top. Then the very first thing you see as you come on to the top of the tower is the red airplane seeming to fly just next to the tower. It’s the first time you can truly see how big the course is, making the view incredible. - @CluelessKlutz
I love the cat tree I built around CuddlyKittens while we were building (and fooling around!) In the actual course, I like the cloud jumps - they're fairly easy and give an aerial view on the whole scene. - @qazini
What thought process goes into creating something like a parkour course?
Well I only really helped with the architecture side of the parkour course in upgrading the existing Boomo map that was previously built. I re-vamped the design of the map starting with the runway to make it look more realistic, took out the existing buildings and created new ones that were more fitting to the map, and added in terrain all around the map. This took a few days for me to be completely happy with but I personally think it looks great! I also had the privilege to help Ellie and others with the planning out of the parkour route, definitely didn't try and make the course super easy so I could complete it… - @onceuponajano
I’m absolutely terrible at parkour in general, but I have lot of fun creating courses and builds, and this is no exception. When I go in to build something, I usually start with an idea in my head on how I want the layout to be. In the case of this map, the actual parkour course was built around the builds once and I did. While the course may not blend as well into the environment as a result, everyone’s gotta start somewhere. - @CluelessKlutz
Ellie did most of the design work for the course. It was very interesting to watch and learn from her how to balance difficulty, enjoyment, and aesthetic in the jumps. - @qazini
When you are creating the parkour you need to think about how difficult it is going to be and how to make it fun and interesting but not too hard/easy. - @iKitten
I think the easiest way to describe it is to have an idea, build it and then try and fit the course in with the idea. It's the first project I've led so there's gonna be a few teething issues, for instance the second to last checkpoint which is just a line of jumps but I still think it worked out pretty well and I'm excited to work on more ideas with the rest of the team. - @EllieEllie
What do you think of the result?
I think it turned out well, people seem happy with it. There's been a couple of things we've changed after it was released but that comes with the territory, players spot things that we don't - @EllieEllie
The new course is a fun edition, and thankfully fairly easy - even I, a noob at parkour, was able to complete it after a while. - @qazini
I’m thrilled with the result, and am incredibly happy that people seem to be enjoying it. I can’t even begin to thank everyone who worked on this enough for how well it turned out. - @CluelessKlutz
I think the result is awesome, I haven't yet tried it out in the parkour world but I am excited too! - @iKitten
I think the result of this parkour is wonderful and we as a team are super proud of it - we hope all of the community enjoys this parkour map and hopefully we can have more built in the future - @onceuponajano
Anything else to add?
Hope all of you enjoy it, I love the end product! (everyone was amazing) - @iKitten
I hope to see you all on the course, and you better beat my terrible time on it! - @CluelessKlutz
Just thanks to the people that helped make it, I really appreciate it and hope you'll come back for the second map we're going to be making. To the players: please let me know if you see anything else that needs changing. There are several shortcuts I'm aware of that are purposefully put in there but other than that I'd like to know your thoughts. - @EllieEllie
I hope everyone gives the course a try, and enjoys doing it as much as I had fun building it. And while you're there, say hi to the cat tree for me! - @qazini
Humans of MeepCraft ft. @definitielynotabi
Q: When did you join meepcraft? Why did you decide to stay?
A: I think it was July 14. I really liked the idea of buying land and doing jobs, and made some friends very quickly.
Q: What do you look forward to each day you come onto MeepCraft? Do your friends play?
A: Currently I look forward to expanding the farm I have, and searching around for an empty plot. I don’t have any friends that I know personally who play, but I do quite often play with friends I met on the server.
Q: Do you have any regrets? Dice away too much money or accidentally throw away a great pickaxe?
A: Not particularly. Things are generally easy to replace.
Q: If you could only relive one experience on Meep what would it be? Why was this experience so memorable?
A: First joining, honestly. I was welcomed immediately and helped by the first person I met. I moved towns, but still have the dog and llama they gave me.
Q: Is there anything you wish the server had? If you could positively change one thing about MeepCraft what would it be?
A: I think it would be cool if they added a couple mods, but I understand how that can be complicated and difficult to attract new players. I honestly enjoy it as it is and nothing immediately comes to mind.

Story-time with the Crew ft. A short story by @smk
Find the first part of the story here.
Find the second part of the story here.
With a loud crack, a man appeared behind them. He had grown from where the light had once been, and the ground at his feet had been instantly burnt.
“Uhh, who are you?” I asked.
“State your name and Specialty, or we will not grant you access to the Haven.”
Ryan spoke up first. “My name is Ryan, and my power is persuasion.”
That was it. I thought. That is why I was so comfortable around me. Anything he suggested I would do.
I looked at him disgustedly. He had been using his specialty on me since we first met, and I knew no better.
He saw my look and started to talk.
“Ica, I didn’t use my powers on you. If I had, I wouldn’t have been able to touch you. Look.”
He told the man behind us to clap, and instantly the man began to clap. Then he tried to hug the man, and he was instantly thrown backwards by some invisible force.
The irritated look on the man’s face turned into a sly smile as he saw Ryan get thrown backwards for using his power.
I refused to look at him. It didn’t matter that he didn’t use his power on me. He lied and told me he didn’t know what his power was, when he knew with complete confidence what it was.
“My name is Ica, and my specialty is Translucency.”
I suddenly activated my power and only my clothes were visible. With my power activated, I could see through the layers of clothes covering Ryan and the growing man.
The growing man bore the skin of a war veteran. His skin was scarred and blistering. Every inch of his body covered by scar tissue, and he winced as he transferred weight from foot to foot. Behind his back, inside his pants, was a gun.
From that point I panicked.
If this man was only here to bring us into the Haven, why did he carry a weapon?
“The weapon is for Specials who try to attack me, and for the damn Skahli missionaries that followed you all the way here. We decided to dispose of those cult members when you entered our forest. You’re welcome.”
The man had no change in voice. He spoke in a distinct monotone unfaltering rhythm that made him seem constantly annoyed with anybody in front of him.
How did he know what I was thinking?
“Ica my Specialty is morphosis. I imagined I was Zeth, the mind reader, and I became Zeth.” He paused, “You truly believed I was this scarred?”
I looked back in disbelief, the world was completely changing. And it all began when the Haven wall suddenly opened, and I walked through.

Heya Meepers,
Thanks to the coding of @jadenPete, we've implemented a new in-game mail plugin. Features include:
- Paginated mail: if you have a ton of mail, it gets split into pages
- Updated delete function: delete more than one piece of mail at the time; either specify specific pieces of mail to remove, or specify a range of mail items
- Multi-player sending: you are now able to send to more than one player if you so choose (spam is still a bannable offense)

The Project - Minigames Update
What is the Minigames Updates?
Following the server’s update to 1.12, our development team has been working to update our minigames to the latest version. This process involves going through the plugin’s code and updating the outdated practises, and then setting up the minigame on a testing server to go through it and squash all the bugs that may have arised.
Who’s been working on it?
- @jadenPete has been working on updating boomo and infected alongside @LordInateur.
- @Vamp1re_Man has been updating CTF.
Let’s Talk!
Over the past week questions have been sent off to some of the key people involved in this project. Using their answers, let’s get some insight on this week's project - 1.12 Minigames Updates!
What was your role?
I run quality assurance tests on the plugins that Jaden and Vamp been updating, and when we've finished fixing the major bugs I implement and configure the new plugins on MeepCraft. - @LordInateur
My role was mainly helping to update the Boomo plugin and right now it is to update Infected. Lord did most of the testing and helped me with potential issues, while I modified the code. This project was also a great learning experience for me, because taught me how to update plugins and allowed me to work collaboratively with the other Techs. - @CasualJaden
I have been working on updating the CTF plugin to 1.12 and fixing any bugs that may arise because of that, along with adding and tweaking existing parts of the game. - @Vamp1re_Man
How difficult was it to implement?
It depends on the plugin. Boomo was a little bit more difficult than normal because we had to rework the server instance that it was running on, but I think that it was a good learning experience for Jaden. - @LordInateur
As CTF is a plugin that I have been working with recently, I am quite familiar with how it works, which allows me to easily locate what might be causing a potential bug and fix it relatively quickly, putting this update on the rather easy side of things. - @Vamp1re_Man
Boomo wasn't that hard to update, but it took more time then we both expected because there were a number of issues that were already present. With Infected we are adding a cross-server implementation to our debug server in order for the plugin not to conflict with other plugins and to more closely represent MeepCraft. Overall nothing big had to be implemented, just tested thoroughly. - @CasualJaden
What do you think the players of Meep will enjoy most about the updated minigames?
I think the players will be able to enjoy a more promised experience, because now there are more Techs and we have the chance to identify what the issues are and what we need to change to make them better. In addition, the way bugs and features are handled should greatly improve because we have them more spread out instead of two techs struggling to handle everything. - @CasualJaden
I think they'll enjoy actually being able to play them after the 1.12.1 update. Some of the plugins were broken before the update (which is why they weren't fixed while we were upgrading the servers) and so I think that the players will enjoy having a relatively bug-free experience... and with more Techs on the team, I think they'll enjoy being able to directly message one of us if something goes wrong without worrying about something getting stuck on the forums. - @LordInateur
Being able to play on MeepCraft smoothly and without any bugs is something that all players would list as something that they care about, and these minigames updates are all about exactly that: getting our minigames updated to the latest version so that everyone can enjoy playing them again. I also believe that some other balancing changes that I am making to CTF will make the game more fair and enjoyable to all players. - @Vamp1re_Man
What is it like when you're going through the process of updating older plugins like this?
It's always a unique experience for each plugin, because sometimes updating the dependencies aren't enough to "fix" a plugin. Often, there are bugs in the plugin that already exist and they are simply brought to the surface when we go through an update. On that note, it's often more satisfying fixing these because it requires some critical analysis of the plugin, and it requires us as developers to try to understand the thought processes of previous developers. - @LordInateur
Most of the plugins haven't been updated for a while, so we had to inspect them well to identify the present issues and sometimes issues that were already there. Similar to what Lord said, it was more than just changing the dependencies and removing deprecated code. - @CasualJaden
As CTF is not really an ‘older plugin’ so to speak, the process that I have gone through is quite different, and arguably a lot easier than what Lord or Jaden would have had to have done with boomo or infected. - @Vamp1re_Man
Do you have anything you would like to add?
If anyone happens to find a bug in a newly-updated plugin, feel free to reach out to me on Discord or file a bug report on the forums. - @LordInateur
For those of you who aren’t massive fans of minigames, there will be more towny updates coming soon! For those of you who are fans of our minigames, I hope that you enjoy being able to play them in 1.12! - @Vamp1re_Man
If anyone notices any bugs in both new and old plugins, please report them on the forums or message any of us Techs. Just like other staff, our job is to improve the server, so any input from players helps a lot. - @CasualJaden
Storytime with the Crew - Infected
The end of the world started slowly. There were stories, here and there; tales of strange happenings and odd goings on. People didn’t take them seriously until it happened to them. By the time the word had gotten round, it was too late to take any drastic measures to save themselves. Themselves being humanity, that is.
There were pockets of people still living, of course, as well as they could in the circumstances. Some buildings turned into strongholds and the people inside would try and venture out for food and of course medicine, when needed. It was risky, but what else were they to do? It was determination and the will for survival and existence that had gotten humankind this far, after all.
On the particular night where we find our protagonists, the setting is a shipwreck just off the coast of the city. I’ve been observing them for a while, out of curiosity. They were one of the larger groups I had seen. Their dynamic was… interesting. A range of ages from all walks of life, some with similar interests, some that clashed. The survival instinct they all shared, however, was admirable. They had a system which worked more often than not and a bond between them grown from their mutual struggle. It was this that made them so successful as a group.
A stirring in the darkness caught my attention, a small way from the shipwreck. A paddle boat was approaching. The light woosh woosh of the oars cutting through the water seemed deafening in the silence. It was clear the boat was struggling under some weight, perhaps they had found a place with plenty of supplies while they were looting. One of the males was sporting a bulkier winter coat as far as I could tell, and there was a mass of blankets and several cans and small boxes in the middle of the two people. As they neared the ladder up to the ship, one of them whistled using their fingers.
As had been practiced many times before, a wooden pallet was lowered over the side and down to the men below. The recipients steadied it, before proceeding to load the cans and boxes into their rucksacks. Curiously, they both took hold of the blankets and heaved, making them a lot heavier than they seemed. Struggling, the blankets were lowered onto the pallet and another whistle was performed, signalling for it to be pulled up and onto the ship.
“Christ, seems like a good haul here, buddy.” That was Kling, originally from Australia. He’d been on holiday in America when it happened. Hence why he was here now. He spent his free time trying to boost morale and work out emergency plans if things went downhill. He’d gone on a looting run a few nights ago and found an old football some kids had left behind. They’d played a 3-a-side game until reality hit them once again.
His comment was directed to the person behind him, both of them pulling on the rope attached to the pallet.
“Yeah, no kidding.” They called the bloke behind Kling ‘Grev’. They were good friends, had been for a while, thick as thieves. I liked their easygoing relationship. It wasn’t complicated, they said what they wanted and knew each other's limits. They were honest, a valued trait when they were living with the last known survivors, so they thought. No contact with anyone else made it easy to think like that.
The rope they were pulling on rubbed against the side of the boat, the friction making it a little difficult. By the time it was high enough for them to grab, they were panting with the effort. Grev grabbed a handful of the top blanket and pulled, revealing what was underneath.
“Blimey.” Kling had to blink twice to make sure his fatigue wasn’t giving him some sort of hallucination. “Who’s this then?” His question was directed at the two men coming over the ladder.
“No idea!” Adrian smiled, “Found her by the roadside a couple of miles away. Out cold, too.” He climbed over the edge then reached a hand out to Teddy.
“Thought she was dead at first, in all honesty.” Teddy added, taking the hand offered and hauling himself over the side.
The four of them carried the unconscious girl down into the ship, where it was warmer and they had some mattresses they could lie her down on. At least she would be more comfortable, and hopefully the warmth would do her good until someone could give her a look over to find out what was wrong.
After they’d got her settled, the boys gathered in the storeroom and unloaded the loot that Teddy and Adrian had gathered on their excursion. There were plenty of cans of fruit, soups and some boxes of cereals. Adrian pulled more boxes and bottles out of his bag; painkillers, antibiotics and clean dressings for wounds.
“Hey, uh.. Run into any trouble out there?” Grev asked quietly.
“The usual, they’ve started gathering about half a mile away. We managed to kill maybe a dozen of them before we had to head back and hole up somewhere for a bit.” Teddy shrugged. As I watched them, it became clear this had become the norm. They no longer let their fear of the undead control them. They were used to them. The infected.
Kling clapped them both on the back, happy they were back safe, and headed off to get some rest and signal to Silly and Merked that they were next on watch. Grev followed suit.
***
A clang and a following groan from outside was carried in the wind, waking Hestia from a light slumber. She blinked, shaking off the sleep and rolled over to her side. I watched as she looked at her friend Clueless in the corner of the room. He was reading by candlelight, a book he’d read at least ten times now, she’d stopped counting, but it kept his mind occupied.
They were an interesting duo, the two of them. Clueless had stumbled across Hestia whilst him and his brother, Boom, were running from the undead. She’d grabbed his ankle on the way past and he’d slipped because of it. The girl led them down into a trapdoor that opened up into some sort of bunker.
She’d only discovered this herself the night before. I’d watched her as she explored, looking for somewhere to stay for a few days that was dry and sheltered. She hadn’t come across another truly alive person in months, it was odd suddenly sharing a space with a strange man and his younger brother. However, these were strange times and she was finally in the company of other real life humans, so she felt some relief.
They had eventually decided to travel on together, and I watched as they stumbled across more people. One of them, a girl called Loli, had told them about a ship where there was a congregation of people all helping each other to survive. This is where they were now, and where they had been for several months.
“What’s on your mind?” Clueless uttered quietly so as not to wake Boom, who was currently burrowed under his and his older brother’s blankets.
“There’s some of them outside, isn’t there?” She replied, watching him carefully.
“Mhm.”
“How long have they been there?”
“A few hours, Merked has been keeping an eye on them. They’re not trying to get in, just repeatedly throwing things around them.” Clueless turned back to his book and Hestia stared at the wall ahead of her, sighing.
“I wish things were different.”
“You’re not alone.” A slight comfort to her, Hestia took Clueless’s words in and rolled them around her head. Yes, she was no longer alone.
***
“There’s more of them.” Qazini and several others sat around the main dining table the next day, I was rather enjoying their discussion so far.
“Thank you for stating the obvious.” Mega replied, “I’m not sure what we can do about it other than trying to dispose of them all. It does mean drawing more attention though. I just don’t like how they’re grouping so close to us.”
“Honestly, we don’t have enough firepower to do things from a distance.” This time, it was Klutch who spoke up.
“Surely there’s more we can use than just guns, we can get a little creative.” Kling stated; he found some paper and a few pencils to write with, the whole table putting their heads together to try and find some semblance of a plan, should things go awry.
I liked these people, they were fighters even though the odds were highly stacked against them. Many had come from afar with few and next to no possessions, living on the bare minimum. It was interesting to see such an obvious show of resilience to the infected. While I watch them discuss several possibilities, I can tell you that people are taking shifts to go on watch, to clean, to cook, to go out and find supplies and make sure everyone can carry on fighting. Yes, they were an interesting group of survivors.
***
“Hey,” Loli had been watching over the unconscious girl Adrian and Teddy had brought in a few days ago, she’d finally started stirring. “Can you hear me?”
The girl’s eyelids were fluttering and she groaned a little, not used to the light. Slowly turning her head, she took in her surroundings.
“You’re safe, for now I guess.” Loli told her, smiling slightly.
“Th-thanks.” The girl coughed, clearly not used to speaking out loud. “Where a-are we?”
“Beached just off the coast, my friends found you lying next to the road a couple miles back.” Loli handed her a bottle of water and helped her sit up in the bed.
“Call me Uki.” Uki sipped on her water, still drinking in her surroundings. “Thank you.. For bringing me here and looking after me.”
“You’re welcome, we have to stick together.”
***
“Guys, I think we have a problem.” Yes, I think so too.
“What is it, Adrian?” Hestia asked, the noises from the creatures outside had been growing steadily louder, over the past few hours. I could tell she had an idea of what Adrian was going to say, but didn’t quite want to believe it.
“We either need to get rid of them or run.” Klutch answered, Qaz nodding alongside him.
“I don’t want to leave, but we simply can’t kill them all. We’re overrun, and terribly lucky they’ve been quite passive for this long.” Silly, I noticed, had been a near-constant voice of reason in the group. I often found myself agreeing with her, not that they even knew I was here.
“Silly is right; but even if we do decide to run, where are we going to go? They’re still going to see us and attack either way.”
The discussion went on for an hour, everyone joining in and trying to think of a solution. Klutch was right that they didn’t have a lot of firepower, certainly not enough to take them all out. Perhaps not even half of them, when I think about it. I enjoyed the struggle, listening in on each of their ideas, their growing worry and weariness of it all. It is rather amazing to see humanity pushed to the limits, then keep going further. I was starting to feel more disappointed that this might actually be the end for them, though.
A good two thirds of the group were looking resigned to their fate, thinking this was the end. The fire gone from their eyes. Others, however, kept trying. Relentless in their discussions, their planning.
At the end of it all, they were getting more and more surrounded by the undead, those infected with the disease to bring down mankind as it was known. Though not clever, the ‘zombies’, if you want to call them that, had noticed things moving on the ship, had become more curious, had attracted other zombies. It was only a matter of time before they worked out how to get to the ship, and then there would be no time to find a way out.
Interesting.
I watched as the group of resistance fighters gathered on the deck of the ship, beached on some sand. They carried with them each a small bag of food, a blanket and personal belongings. Every one of them had some sort of weapon designed to effectively kill each of the undead. Whether they had been here a day, or a year, they were all fighting the same fight.
All of them looked determined to try and find some way out of this, I hoped it would last. I’ve been waiting for the game to actually begin.
Hello. My name is Fuzzlr, welcome to Infected.
Humans Of MeepCraft - Feat. @SillySilver
How did you first find Meepcraft?
My brother was playing Meepcraft, and I became interested about the server, so I later joined in because it sounded a lot of fun.
How did you come up with your name?
I have been moving with name Silver in the internet for years, mostly because it sounded feminine to me. So, I wanted my name to somehow roll on tongue or mind easily, and I thought of the word “silly”. So I added it onto my name, and because I am pretty silly by my personality.
What is your favorite thing to do on the server?
I absolutely enjoy the community, talking to my friends and just having a chat with other players. But when I’m not talking, I mine and do other things to earn meebles.
How do you like the 1.12 update so far?
I think it’s wonderful, I especially love the parrots since birds are my favorite animals. And the new things are really interesting, I should dive more deep into what the update has in it.
If you were given a million Meebles, what would you do with them?
Buy ranks for other Meepies! Or give it to charity as...well, paying it to other players. I am already Ultimate so I don’t need to buy ranks for myself, so I would buy ranks for others.
Is there anything else you’d like to add?
Not really, other than I really wish Meep would get whitelisted soon, it’s a little upsetting how quiet the server is and I remember the old days, I really hope we can reach that status someday again.
Welcomes and Farewells

CluelessKlutz’s House Party
Everyone enjoys a good house party, especially when the homeowner doesn’t invite anyone! Earlier this week, Onceuponajano, EllieEllie, L_e_, and Teddypines invited the entire server to invade Clueless’s home for a party, which he later agreed to. Then Ellie and Once convinced the poor homeowner to enter flower parkour, but this is not a horror story, so no details are being released about that. See images from the party here.
/warp Hornemans
When Fuzzlr got online for a quick fix of towns, the community all gathered at the newly created /warp hornemans, as Fuzzlr had created an NPC. Following a suggestion, they decided to write a new quest. The nearby Supermod, CluelessKlutz, quickly generated a document to use, and let anyone with the link edit . . . that was a mistake. Soon after, it was spammed with random sentences and the script of the Holy Grail movie. View the screenshots from the event here!
The Project - Tutorial
What is the Tutorial?
Tutorial is an important aspect to a new players experience on the server as it gives them a insight of how to actually play. It is the first world a player logging onto the server sees, and thus needs to generate a positive first impression.
Who’s been working on it?
- @CluelessKlutz has been the leader of this project, while also helping create the outline.
- @0zblox has been working on building the tutorial map.
- @Vamp1re_Man has assisted in creation of the outline, as well as worked towards creating the plugin.
Let’s Talk!
Over the past week questions have been sent off to some of the key people involved in this project. Using their answers, let’s get some insight on this week's project -
What is your role?
My role on this project was the organization and outline. So if any of it goes wrong, it’s probably my fault. - @CluelessKlutz
What was is your overall experience working on Tutorial?
Tutorial has always been one of my passions. It’s so often overlooked that it just never gets done when it is really one of the most important worlds on the server. - @CluelessKlutz
Do you enjoy working on it?
Absolutely, I’ve wanted to update this for ages, and I mean ages. This is actually the third tutorial revamp I’ve worked on, but other issues rendered the previous two useless. - @CluelessKlutz
How do you think the players of Meep will like the improvements?
Well, the hope is always that players will love it, but it honestly won’t affect current players as much directly, though maybe indirectly by guiding newer players to the worlds they want to be in. - @CluelessKlutz
How do you think the new Tutorial will affect the server and assist new players?
I really hope that it explains things to people much easier. The more the tutorial can explain, the better. Sure, there are things that would just be too long to include, but at least this is going to keep it from being as overwhelming to learn how to play. - @CluelessKlutz
Do you have anything you would like to add?
Obviously, a tutorial isn’t something that will stay the same forever, because the game and server is constantly updating. Still, it’s been over two years since Tutorial was last updated, but now we should be able to stay on top of it by bringing it into the most current version.
Overall, I just hope that it can get players, new and old, both going all on their own so they spend less time having to find stuff out, and more time having fun. - @CluelessKlutz
Let’s get some Architect and Tech input!
What input have you had on this project?
I’ve always been pushing for a newer and improved tutorial and had previously had plans to create a tutorial similar to the current quests. On the current project, I’ve been helping advise and give ideas for basic structure of the tutorial to ck, however the majority of the work so far has been from him and 0z. - @Vamp1re_Man
My role in the tutorial is to create a new, exciting map that players can enjoy in addition to learning the essential commands needed to enjoy Meepcraft to the fullest. - @0zblox
How difficulty do you believe these changes are to implement?
From a Tech perspective, tutorial is a really easy project to implement. A majority of the tutorial is simple holograms which only takes a single in-game command to add. Of course, if we want to add a quiz, rewards, specific commands the player has to run, etc. it will require a bit of code but really it’s all quite simple. - @Vamp1re_Man
What do you go for when building something like Tutorial?
First impressions are always important. The tutorial world is the first thing that a newcomer would see upon joining Meepcraft and I strive to give an awesome glimpse into Meep that would hopefully make the player want to stay. - @0zblox
Storytime with the Crew - The Halo Tournament: Part 2
And that’s it!!!! The finals of the grand halo tournament have been decided at last! The crowed roared in anticipation as the announcer went to hand over the trophy to the winners….
But wait, our story doesn’t start there. It all began on one fateful evening, when four teams made up of the best Halo players Meep had to offer entered in the Grand Halo Tournament. Each player, determined as any to take home the victory for their team, awaited eagerly the day where they could demonstrate their skills to the rest of the server. Each team, made up of four players, was not only hungry for the tournament trophy, but to show off their superiority and claim the title of best Halo player.
First up, Team Bern stepped into the Arena to battle Mastered PvP. Having returned to the Halo arena just for this tournament, Raycovel promised to be quite the threat. Slightly inexperienced, but greatly making up for it in confidence, MasterTurtle_101 had spent all day practicing with his team to sharpen his skills. Fruity_196 had grinded all through the night to get her level up. Hardly needed an introduction in the realm of PvP, Cleaves510 also had prepared for weeks for the tournament. Together, they made up MasteredPvP.
Over on the other side of the gap, stood the master berner and troll of Legend, AdrianBFaust. EmperorMeznik stood alongside his long-time friends, holding his rifle tightly. _Peero_, a longtime Halo player, grinned as he clipped the ammo into the his sniper rifle. Finally, EniBeast entered, checking that all his grenades were in place.
After getting set in place, the two teams quickly engaged into the action. Watching from above, CluelessKlutz sized up the enemy as he observed the battle waging below him.
“Feel the bern!” Adrian yelled as he chucked three grenades behind him at MasterTurtle. Looking back, he saw Fruity explode as Meznik’s shot hit home.
“Yikes, these guys mean business,” Clueless muttered softly.
Barely holding off the red onslaught, Raycovel fired again and again, narrowly dodging one of Peero’s grenades. Cleaves danced in and out between the members of Team Bern, scoring points left and right as he racked up kills. Boom! He suddenly exploded into a million particles. Back and forth, the lead went. Finally, it was declared that Team Bern had won the round. Without so much as a cheer, but a sigh of relief from Adrian, Meznik's, Peero, and Eni, they reloaded their weapons for the next match.
Taking notes on how everyone moved, Clueless whispered to Boom, who was sitting next to him, “Think we'll do well?”
Smiling sinisterly, Boom replied, “Oh they won't stand a chance against our secret weapon.”
“Your hacks?” Ck taunted.
“Ye, no one beats my skill aura. Plus I need this for my daily hackusation. You know I can't go a day without it!”
“Will your two dorks be quiet so we can watch this?” Hestia teased. “The next round is starting!”
Turning their attention back to the arena, Team Bern and Mastered PvP were well into their second match. The map was called Zanzibar, and its most prominent feature was an enormous object in the center that resembled a wheel. Deep into the battle, Mastered PvP began a push against the red team by tricking them into facing all four of them against one of Team Bern. First they nailed Adrian, then Meznik.
Peero swung his axe at them rapidly, desperate to avoid getting killed. Nailing Cleaves, he dodged from side to side, evading dozens of attacks. As the round ended, Mastered PvP was announced as the winner.
The tie breaker began within moments, each team determined to move on to the next stage. Fighting furiously, Ray charged the enemy again and again only to get blasted each time by a well placed round. “Would have been nice if Caleb didn’t throw us to the sharks,” he complained.
“Let’s do this!” Eni shouted, pushing ahead with Peero close behind him. Little by little, Team Bern’s lead increased. Despite all their efforts, Mastered PvP simply couldn’t catch up. In the end, they lost, and Team Bern moved onto the next round.
“Quite a close one,” Clueless remarked. “Reminded me of how close the duel between Darth Sidious and Grand Master Yoda was in Revenge of the Sith.”
Sarcastically, smkorpi asked, “Is there anything that doesn’t remind you of Star Wars?”
“There really isn’t,” Boom mentioned. “Now let’s watch the next one. Epix, Alex, merked, and Jaden are going up against Team Bern. I believe they call themselves the Mesa Miners.”
Rushing forward, Epixaid weaved in and out of the rocks on the map, narrowly avoiding countless projectiles. He leapt high into the air, and blasted Meznik in one quick shot. As they both continued. Team Bern fired down at them from the high ground.
Adrian fired another round, hitting merked straight in the helmet. Ka-boom! She respawned back in her team’s bunker as the explosion cleared. Avoiding Meznik by a hair, Jaden returned fire, clipping his arm, but not killing him. Drawing his energy blade, Jaden sliced EmperorMeznik right across, dealing the finishing blow, yet the points for the round were nearly tied. “Time for the winning blow!” Peero yelled as he squeezed the trigger on his rifle. It was a perfect shot, going straight for Epixaid. Epix looked at it, but knew there was nothing he could do to avoid it. As the deadly snowball got within one block, the game ended! The Mesa Miners had won the first match!
“Noooo!” Eni screamed. “We were five points off!! Which we would have gotten in that shot killed Epix. Making quick work of the second round, Team Bern tied it 1:1. Again, the finale would determine who won.
The crowd cheered wildly as the last match of the day began. In the smallest TDM map, the Nether brick contrasted greatly against the water below the platforms. Hiding behind pillars between shots, merked snuck along the side towards the enemy base, only to be surprised when she was ambushed by Meznik! Before he could unleash his barrage, he suddenly poofed. Looking back, she saw Alex standing there, smiling. As the match continued, the score would shift back and forth as each team performed better in different areas of the map. Frustrated, Adrian jumped out from his cover in the last few seconds, only to be hit instantly by merked and Alex at the same time. Suddenly, the match ended, with the Mesa Miners emerging victorious.
***
“Well, looks like it’s our turn,” Clueless remarked. “That last match was quite intense! Good thing we already warmed up a little bit ago, too.”
“What’s our team name again?” smk asked.
As if in response to his question, a voice on the speaker system announced, “Now the Mesa Miners will face off against the Mythical Warriors!”
“Well, that solves it, I guess,” smk chuckled.
All geared up, both teams entered into the arena. “Something look different to you about the Mesa Miners?” Boom commented. “I don’t see Alex, because that’s Viper standing there.”
“Meet our secret weapon!” Jaden beamed. Known throughout combat arenas everywhere, Viperfan17 was famous in Halo as one of the fastest jitters, meaning he hit hard and fast with his glowing power hammer. “Now let’s do this!”
Still, the match had already begun. Countless shots pelted the environment in near misses on both teams. “Gosh, I hate this map,” Clueless complained. “It’s so hard because the red teams spawns up in this dropship! So anyone on blue can just snipe where the entrance is.”
“Yea, but let’s win this anyways!” Boom shouted, as he spun around dealing untold amounts of damage. Chucking two grenades into a small tower, flames burst out the top, making the tower look like an enormous torch. Slowly losing, the Mythical Warriors all began to tire. Pushing with their last reserves of strength, Hestia fired rapidly across the stream. Ck fell off the bridge while narrowly evading.
He flung a single grenade towards the enemy, and nailed Jaden. The crowd watched in amazement as the best of the best fired over and over at one another. It was a clash of titans. Inching ahead, the Mystical Warriors worked their way to catch up.
“Good thing we love sniping long range,” smk laughed as he nailed Viper from across the map. “Viper is great until you get him a long ways off, then it’s much easier to hit him since he relies on his Power Hammer so much.”
Barely pulling ahead before the end of the round, Clueless, Hestia, Boom, and smk managed to secure the win.
Taking a short break, both teams were allowed to rest a bit. While they were grabbing some lunch back in Legend, the thump of music came from Ellie’s home. “Sounds like Onceuponajano is having another dance party at Ellie’s,” Hestia smirked.
Running over to knock on the door, both Ellie and Once came to the front door only to find Boom standing there. “Egg, Once, go to sleep!” he yelled. “It’s four in the morning for you!” As smk, Clueless, and Hestia laughed at the scene, their minds could not help but drift to thinking about the next match.
“Hope we get a good map,” smk whispered. Both teams hopped into the arena after the crowd had returned. “I heard the profit from the tickets is going to the Meep Citizen Fund, too.”
“Either way, let’s give this a go!” Clueless declared. Once inside the arena, they had a clear view of the map: Zanzibar. Being the blue team, they sprinted towards the middle of the map to get a clear shot at the Mesa Miners as they came over the hill. Boom! Boom! The first two reds died near instantly. Bang! Bang! Some came in return, striking smk and Clueless. Sighing, Ck ran along the side of the map, only to find most of the enemy team rushing at him.
Ding! A hit on Epix killed him instantly. Suddenly, Viper jumped on him from behind and clobbered Ck with his axe. “I really hate that hammer some days,” he whispered under his breath. The match continued, neither side willing to give in, not even for a moment.
The last minute of the match began, and the Mystical Warriors were down by a thousand points. Defeat seemed certain, which would only lead to another match. “Bring the boooom!” MasterofBoom yelled as his grenades took three of red team at once in a ball of fire. And it was over! The score had been tied nearly for the entire game. And the winner was . . . the Mesa Miners!
Disappointed, the warriors walked towards the exit so they could prepare for the next round. The Mesa Miners gave each other hi-fives to celebrate stopping the tournament from ending so quickly.
This time, they went to rest at Boom’s home in Old Legend. “Can’t believe we lost that one . . . “ they all thought to themselves.
Seeming to appear out of nowhere, Ellie flew in the front door. “Congratulations, you guys! Knew you could do it!”
“What do you mean, Ellie?” Hestia asked. “We lost that round, and may or may not lose the next.”
“Oh! You didn’t see! One of the camera crews was coming up with statistics for each match by watching the footage, and noticed the kill count he came up with differed from the official one. Turns out it didn’t count five kills for your team!” Ellie explained. “You guys won!!!”
Jumping up and down, all four of them ran back to Halo, finding the judges waiting for them on a stage, holding four golden Halo trophies with their names carved on them.
Allowing each member of the team to take the mic, each gave a short little speech. The last to go, Clueless began, “You know, this all started a long, long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away . . .”

Humans Of MeepCraft - Feat. @onceuponajano and @Legend Emerged (L_E_)
How did you find Meepcraft?
I was looking around for a towny server and came across Meepcraft, the players and community were very inviting so I decided to stay. -onceuponajano
To be honest, I don’t remember it anymore as clear, but I think I searched Google for Towny servers and this one came up. So I came on, and just tried it out. You see, I once was interested in making my own server with a couple of friends. I always dreamed of making a towny server, but my friends were more interested in PvP and minigames, so I searched my passion to look elsewhere. - L_e_
What keeps you coming back to Meepcraft?
Mainly for the friends that I have made on the server as I have met people from all across the globe. The whole server is very friendly and inviting and it’s one big family that I love to bits! -onceuponajano
I’d have to say it’s more an addiction than most things, but the community, I don’t know how to describe it, but it’s totally different from other servers. People support everyone on here. It’s nice to get support on what you create and to play with people who are really friends. - L_e_
What is your favorite building style?
Ooh that’s a difficult question! I like to build in many different styles, for example: Medieval but recently, from the help of L_e_, I have found a new style that I love to build, Fantasy. We’re both currently building a new district in the town of Legend. -onceuponajano
Oh, you can guess. Fantasy of course! It’s just a super open style people mostly think is about witch huts, dragons, etc., but you can actually create whatever you like. I build in mostly every style, but my builds somehow turn out a bit fantasy anyways in the end. I just love color in my builds, but I guess that’s what makes them fantasy. - L_e_
What do you think is the most underrated or used block?
That’s another difficult question, I would say overused possibly stone brick, and underrated, hmm, I would say brick as a lot of people do not like the texture or colours used in the block. But I love the brick haha. -onceuponajano
Definitely the emerald block is overrated. It’s the most terrible block I’ve ever seen. Although I’ve used it in a couple builds, it is difficult to work with. You can use the block like as a gem or something, but that’s it. - L_e_
If you were architect for two weeks, what would you want to build for the server, and why?
I’d maybe give the towny spawn a redecoration or maybe work on a new Ctf map. -onceuponajano
Well, I don’t know where to start. I guess I’d be really busy with maps that could be useful for minigames, because new maps always create new interest. If I had the time to do it, I’d try building a new spawn, but I certainly would do that if I had more time. - L_e_
Once, what was going through your head when you got ultimate?
I was not expecting it at all, it all came as a surprise! I am just very thankful to Nyamekye for giving the rank to me, it has definitely made building easier!
...why are you a carrot, Once?
Hahahahaha. Both my skin and name are based on Youtubers! Onceuponajano is short for the Janoskians, a group of Australian pranksters that I used to love and watch all the time, and my skin is a carrot onsie from the Youtuber Hannah Hart!
L_e_, what does your name mean?
My name means Legend Emerged. That name was already taken, though, so I had to improvise with my name. I’m a superfan of legends, which is why my Beta town was called Legend.

The Maze
While testing one of his latest projects, @DBLOSEVN decided to host a small event. The maze, a system that randomly generates a maze within the desired radius. Despite deeming it impossible, several players braved the path, making it all the way to the end. In first place, @MasterofBoom was coined “MasterofMaze” by @Vamp1re_Man. The title of Second was bestowed upon @BritishAirlines, and third was given to @Flamedemond2. And let’s not forget those who were still trapped in the maze, desperate the find the path. Upon reaching the other side, the victors enjoyed playing with Vampire and @CluelessKlutz in building an invincible castle of . . . dirt.
Fuzzlr Bash
Thanks to his many vote keys, @Epixaid had quite a few disguise notes. So many, that when everyone come to /warp Fuzzlr, they could all disguise themselves as him, hosting the first Fuzzlr convention, all while atop the statue. See images from that here.
Storytime with the Crew - The Lone Villager: Part 2
Grass and leaves crunched as Bob trekked down the path. Sweat rolled down his face; it was a long, long journey. “Night is falling quickly. I had better get to cover before the monsters come out,” he realized. Finding a small cave, Bob blocked off the entrance, and placed several torches inside. The entire cave was lit with the flickering torchlight, as shadows bounces across the walls. Overnight, he heard hissing, growling, and clawing at his small cobblestone barrier, as many tried to get inside. Finally, they fled or burned in the sunlight the next morning.
Several more nights passed by like this, as Bob became accustomed to the wilderness. Late one night, a faint creaking noise awoke him. “Oh great . . . spiders. I hate spiders.” Sword drawn, the lone toolsmith stood. Fangs gleamed in the soft moonlight as the spiders began to pour through by the dozen. Slashing, weaving, dodging, slicing, Bob moved around as he swung the iron blade in his grasp. Little by little, he carved his path towards the exit, before fleeing into the desert near the cave of the night. Taking refuge in a desert temple, the cool, smooth sandstone was refreshing against the warm, coarse sands outside.
The next morning, he awoke to the skeletons burning, creepers and spiders retreating underground, and endermen vanishing, yet no zombies were to be seen. “Curious, none to be seen. But hey, not gonna ignore the opportunity.” Picking up the trail once again, he set out, determined to liberate his village. Over mountains, through frosty tundras, among lush jungles, Bob ventured, until finally reaching a tall ridge. When he looked over the ridge, Bob gazed upon a magnificent fortress, surrounded by a bustling metropolis.
On the other side of the city, he spotted another ridge, this one covered in tents and bright banners. Nearing this camp, the toolsmith began to notice something about this vast armed host: some were from his village. Now running as fast as his 8-bit legs could carry him, Bob bolted over to the camp. Larry, one of the village’s chief miners, greeted him with open arms. “What is going on? I thought you were taken as a prisoner,” Bob stated, curious.
“We were, actually. But then I, along with a few others, escaped to this group, who refer to themselves as the ‘Rebels,’” Larry explained.
“A week or two later, we launched a massive rescue mission, and recovered most of the villagers the enemy had taken. Right now, we’re preparing for the siege on the city itself. We actually were just discussing the need for more weapons! Could you repair the weapons we already have?”
Thinking hard, Bob pondered the matter. “Well, swords and bows are very different than the tools I normally work with, but I can certainly try.”
In a croaky voice, one of the village farmers whispered, “Do or do not, there is no try.”
“That sounds like something an old hermit would state to sound wiser than he really is!” Bob chuckled.
“There’s one other thing you should know,” Larry mentioned. “You may or may not like it, but we picked up a few friends . . .”
Clanging and pounding sounds filled the airwaves, as this dedicated toolsmith mended the blades, restrung the bows, and sharpened the axes. Hours later, he passed them all out to the army, who was preparing to launch their assault. Horns sounded, as the sea of mobs charged at the human fortress. Fireballs flew at the archers on top of the wall, who, in turn, rained down a hail of arrows upon the shuffling zombies. Slimes protected the horde of creepers , who detonated against the wall. “This is your idea of getting help!?” Bob shrieked, watching tan zombies march towards the wall, armed with the very blades he had repaired.
“Might as well take advantage of the alliance, probably won’t last long!” Larry shouted. Bursting through the holes in the wall came adventurers, armed to the teeth. Glistened aqua armor began to spread across the battlefield.
“Diamond armor,” Bob muttered. Battle-hardened warriors felled the zombies by the thousand, leveled dozens of creepers, and bulldozed through the skeletons and blazes.
Hours later, the battle raged on, with neither side able to secure the victory. Despite receiving multiple wounds, Bob and Larry both fought on. Finally, they came to the leader of the enemy, whom they learned was called the Burning Legion, lead by none other than the cruel troll, @AdrianIsEpic, who despised all leaders in the world, calling them corrupt. He claimed to be an undercover admin, but was secretly called the false prophet in all the alleys and palaces in the land. His sword, the Bern, clashed against Larry and Bob as the two villagers fought side by side. As the fight continued, Bob began to notice the durability of his sword was wearing down. If this keeps up, he’ll beat us by wearing out our swords!
Suddenly, a sharp snap filled Bob’s ears. Looking around, he saw that Larry’s sword had been broken in two. A horrified look filled Larry’s face, as he prepared for the worst. Adrian raised his sword, preparing to deal a devastating blow. Time appeared to be reduced to a crawl as Bob watched. All of the others were out of reach, useless to block the blow. In a split second decision, he knew what must be done. Leaping towards Larry, Bob outstretched his arms, crying, “Noo!” The Bern fell, striking Bob directly, but leaving Larry unscathed. Seeing his friend vanish before his very eyes, rage filled Larry. In a swift punch of sheer fury, he knocked the Bern out of the tyrant’s hand. Mercilessly, he swung the warlord’s own weapon at him, chipping off bits and pieces of his armor. Finally, a blaze intervenes, and sets the warlord ablaze. Then two other villagers grab him. They had captured him.
***
A few days later, the villagers stood once again in their homes, having parted ways with their allies and enemies alike. Larry dedicated himself to diplomacy afterwards, as both the adventurers and villagers began to discover ways to work together. A memorial had been erected to remind all in Sprucehollow of the courage of Bob the Toolsmith, the warrior who had saved them all.
Humans Of MeepCraft - Feat. @FlyingBurgers
Where did your name come from?
So, I was an old player, and I was like, “I want a short name.” I like burgers, and I like to fly, so FlyingBurgers was created.
What has been your favorite thing on the server?
The KitPvP! Not the people there; they irritate me. But some are great!
Who is your favorite person on the server, and why?
Buttfly 29 He’s my bff. I’ve known him for so long, and we’ve played a lot together, and we always have fun even when we’re working hard.
What restaurant has the best burger?
Not that trash McDonald’s. It can go die. I prefer a nice a&w burger, or Red Robin.
If you were to pick only one holiday to celebrate, what would it be, and why?
I like Christmas the most because it’s fun.
If you were given a million Meebles right now, what would you spend them on?
I would give it to Buttfly so he can make his city. I’m not really here for the game, I’m here for him and we can have fun together.
Who is your favorite Star Wars character?
I like the orange girl who gave Rey the lightsaber. (Maz Kanata)
Anything else you’d like to add?
Uhh, I like farming!

Storytime with the Crew
In this new little section, there will be a story each issue, continuing the story from the last edition.
Once upon a time, in a place known to as Meepcraft, there lay a kingdom, with daring citizens, all struggling to make ends meet in creative ways, doing /jobs and selling anything they could find. This land was governed by the most powerful couple in the world, @Courtneyyy and @KlutchDecals, the king and queen of the entire world as we know it. After a daring raid, a cunning griefer managed to sneak explosives into the kingdom’s control room, and destroyed the vast realms. However, Klutch and Courtney survived, along with the majority of the citizens of the kingdom. Despite this feat, when tragedy struck, the king and queen struggled to figure out ways to rebuild the kingdom to be as great as it once was..
“My heart is broken…” Queen Courtneyyy wept.
“I understand you’re upset dear, we all are, our economy lay in ruins, no income coming in, and all people are struggling to make bank, making bases in the wild and trying to survive with their friends, they have all abandoned this great /warp towns world because nobody can afford one! We need to restart our economy, it's the only way!” said Klutch
“I suppose you are right, KlutchDecals, this is the only way.” Courtneyyy exclaimed, heartbroken, but relieved, because even though the citizens would lose everything, they would get a fresh start and everything would be turn out.
Meanwhile, a few desperate citizens of this great server, struggling to make ends meet and trying to become the richest on this new land, found a way to become not only the richest… but most powerful residents in the world.
“By George he’s done it!” declared Romeo.
“What a genius he is! Oh indeed!” said Valerie, obviously obsessed with the scientist.
“Muahahahaa!” the Quest Blaster screamed sinisterly. “The king and queen will never find this great machine of mine, which duplicates items of great worth and allows us to sell them on the /vshop and at /warp bank! We will be rich again! We shall rise from the ashes and be the wealthiest of all in the whole land!!”
They continued using this great machine, day and night, hour by hour, until suddenly, millions of meebles were appearing on the market. Nobody suspected these 3 daring and risky meepers until…
To be continued...
Humans Of MeepCraft - Feat. Galaxybk
How did you find Meepcraft?
Well, funny story actually. I was looking for a capture the flag server, and I guess Meep had capture the flag before in the server description, so I joined… but I couldn’t find capture the flag xD. So I left for a few months and then I revisited and found out how the server worked. Everyone in the Meep community was very welcoming and I joined a cute little town.
How did you get your IGN?
I don’t know where the Galaxy came from, I guess I kinda just came up with it in my head. The B is for Bridget, which is my name. The K is my middle name but I’m keeping it secret ;3.
What is your favorite thing to do on the server?
I like making friends lol but I also like helping the server out, like if anyone has questions. I try to answer so the staff team don’t have as much work.
So, what have been your main plans since the server reset and what’s next?
Well, my original plan was to reunite with my old Meep friends and recreate Hyrule; however, the name was taken. So I thought of a new name recently which is a secret, you’ll just have to wait and see. I’m trying very hard to get enough money for it but I’m accepting donations anytime heheh.
What is your current favorite /dis?
Definitely baby llama or wither skeleton xD
Would you rather be completely invisible for a whole day or be able to fly for one day and why?
I would fly in Meep because I would practically be Ult and that’s my dream so I would do a bunch of good stuff with /fly and convince the staff team to let me keep it xD. For in real life, I would be invisible because I could pull pranks on people!
Welcomes and Farewells
Congratulations and good luck to @Noahnda, @NinjaRoxy, @Vexmae, and @Flamedemond2 as they embark on their journey as Helpers!
