Let's go through a little run-down of all our recent improvements/fixes!

KitPvP Revisions
- We have removed the Kit signs at /warp KitPvP and replaced it with a much better /kit command!
- /kits are currently being worked on by the one and only @reggles44, and we look forward to the new ones!

Stock Market
-Your stocks can now be stored at the Broker. All info will displayed in the GUI.

Staff List
- We have a new dynamic Staff List located as a tab at the top of forums
- You can check here to see when we get new Staff Members or promote our current ones!

Vortex
- We have modified Vortex to prevent players from using /me while inside it
- Also, after 90 seconds, players will be auto-redirected to Spawn!
- No more waiting in Void for the world to come back up!

Infected
- Infected permissions have been completed
- Enjoy our new game!

Parkour
-Cactus-parkour has been added
-Lava glitch in Ultimate ice has been fixed

Forum profile pictures
-Profile picture bug has been resolved

Bug Fixes
- Bugs and glitches are being fixed around the clock to ensure the most fun possible for every Meeper out there!

Enjoy the limited-time Easter dungeon and take part in its parkours!

/warp extreme design
The spawn has been raised by a few blocks so that players can’t run back to safety upon leaving it.

Rules Update
The Towny Extreme rules have been posted. Read them here.

Extreme Ore Generation
We have adapted the ore generation so that it is easier for players to find diamonds and to even it out we have made iron harder to find.

Improved Quest Clarity
Thanks to the amount of feedback we have had for the quests we have worked hard on making them easier to navigate with clearer paths and a quest compass to help lead players to their next location.

Combat Log
Combat log is now disabled for dealing with mobs.

Tax on Bounties
We have added a 10% tax on bounties to prevent people from using them as a way to transfer money.

Bugs Squashed
Extreme Portal
The portal at /warp spawn labeled as “Extreme” now sends players to Extreme.

Recently Accepted Suggestions
Extreme Chest Shop Logs
Chest shop logs will be available in extreme.

Forums Trophies
More trophies will be added onto forums for the older meepers.

Removal of /warp extreme
The /warp extreme command to teleport to Extreme spawn will be removed on Saturday, April 18th.

Parkour Commands
Parkour will be receiving an update and more commands will become available.

Towny Name
Towny will be called “Classic”.

Quest Journal Text
The color of the /quests journal text will be changed to a more readable color.

Custom Mob xp
Custom mobs will be changed to drop xp.

Extreme Saplings
Birch and dark oak saplings will be added to Extreme.

Happy Birthday qaz!
On the 13th of April the fantabulous qazweenie was feeling down on her birthday, so Adriana and Midnight took it to make her have a memorable day. Adrian built an amazing cake fit for a quartz queen while Midnight provided the distractions. We then had a party with friends where we sung various renditions of Happy Birthday to celebrate her day.

A Very Meepy Wedding.
A sleep deprived Katronica and friends decided it was a good idea for Katronica to get married to a very special Waifu. A lack of sleep led to a baby and a divorce on the same day!

The Romantic Adventures of Viperfan!
What a week it has been for Viper! Romance was certainly in the air for this meeper and what a wild ride it was. With the server watching in a live stream thanks to Clue, Viper and his new girl went on a dangerous adventure where they faced many troubles and much death along the way. Unfortunately, we must report that this relationship did come to an end; a tragic ending to a wonderful love story. The true Romeo and Juliet of Meepcraft!

MeepTimes Contests
In this section, the community will get a chance to participate in a quick contest in each MeepTimes! There will be a 25,000 meeble or 4,000 skull prize (from the MeepTimes writers) the person with the best answer, chosen by the Meeptimes team. To be entered, just reply to the thread with an answer! Winner will be paid with the release of the next MeepTimes.

The Project: Revamp

What is Revamp?
Everyone has been hearing about the revamp for a while now, so we’re going to be featuring various aspects of it in the coming issues. This time, we talked to @CluelessKlutz and @LordInateur about the overarching project.

Let's Talk!

When did the idea of such a massive revamp first take hold, and how did you decide to make it into what it has become?
Originally the idea came from inside of staff in a casual discussion, but at that point all it entailed was updating some games and a new spawn back in February of 2019. Over time, as I planned things out, I realized something at this scale wouldn't be nearly enough to succeed. Thus I spent the next few months planning out the idea of Towny Extreme before talking it over with Fuzzlr over the summer. After that, the direction was established, and I worked on it for hundreds of hours. Unfortunately, my academics had to take precedent which lead to massive periods of time in which little work got done, but finally got the time to finish things with my Spring break, leading to the release. - @CluelessKlutz

What are you most proud of in all of revamp?
For me, the dungeons have honestly been a super fun addition to the server and the overall gameplay loop of Extreme. - @CluelessKlutz

I'm most proud of how well our staff team is working together to launch new features, fix bugs, and change to fit the needs of the playerbase. - @LordInateur

What did you have the most trouble with?
Timing for sure. Academics have been absolutely pounding my schedule and dramatically reduced my availability to develop the needed content. - @CluelessKlutz

There've been a couple of bugs that have turned out to be hellish--the Villager bugs were very nightmare-inducing. - @LordInateur

What part was most fun to create/design/implement?
Designing the lore and custom features behind a world like Extreme has been quite a lot of fun. While the quests themselves can be pretty on the fly, I have enough lore in my head for the next 2 years about this world and everything in it. - @CluelessKlutz

How have you measured success?
To me, the success isn't as much in the numbers as it is the enjoyment. While it's nice to see a higher player count for sure, I think the real value is in seeing how much people have been able to enjoy Towny Extreme, the new spawn, and the other features being added. - @CluelessKlutz

In terms of this project, I've measured it in terms of the increasing number of players who enjoy being online at one time, and the increase in staff involvement. - @LordInateur

When did you first join Meep and what kept you around so long?
From my very foggy memory with the capacity of a goldfish, I joined Meep in early 2013 when I was 11-12, after one of my middle school buddies told me about this server. Although my friend no longer plays on meep, let alone minecraft, I stayed for the long haul of 2013 trying to immerse myself in such an interesting community. After an incident in 2014, just a couple days into meepnetworks, my rank was charged back from Supreme, bringing me to VIP. From that I decided to quit and move on. Fast forward to 2020 being a first year college student, I found myself finding a lot of free time. In doing so, I wanted to see if meep still existed as what I was familiar with, like in 2013. To my surprise, nothing really changed from what I remembered when I was just a middle schooler. Meep still provided the same community that it had, despite a shortage of players since the time I have played. It was honestly a surreal experience to see many of the OG players in 2013 still logging in and to see how much they have grown. Although I took a long hiatus on meep for several years, the community found its way to bring me back as an active player.

You said you're in college. How did you choose the school you are attending?
As I said I am a first year college student. I am currently attending the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, hoping to major in Economics and minor in International Relations. Even till this day, I get lots of questions as to why I decided to go international instead of choosing a school near me (California). Since I am a dual citizen in both Canada and America, my options were opened up to a larger selection for 2 different countries. There were many factors as to why I chose UBC but, the main reason as to why I chose it was because of my sister. My oldest sister is essentially one of my role models and she attended UBC many years before me. I always wanted to follow in her footsteps due to her success and how much she impacted my life, thus making my decision to UBC a no brainer.

Why does your sister inspire you?
My sister has always been there for me ever since I was little. She has always guided me through life and school, giving me the best possible advice. Additionally, my sister has always been successful both in academics and in her specific career. Her constant work and efforts modeled me to be the same way. I would not be where I am today if it wasn't for her and her influence to be successful and work as hard as her.

Was it difficult moving from California to BC? What are the biggest differences for you? Do you have an obvious preference?
I feel that the move was definitely interesting. There was a huge culture shock that I had to face and I slowly had to immerse myself in this new culture day by day. I think the biggest difference is the people itself. Canadians (in my personal opinion) are a lot more passive aggressive compared to Californians. As a native Californian, direct and straightforward answers are very normal to me. So when talking to a native in Vancouver, it can be kinda hard to tell if they are angry or not, hahaha. Preference wise, I feel that my hometown in California will always be my true "home." Although Vancouver itself provides so many opportunities like its nature, amazing people (despite their passive aggressiveness), and great food, California will always be so natural to me.

Why did you decide to go into economics and international relations?Do you know what you want to do as a career?
I choose economics fairly last minute, if I'm being honest. I originally was set on pursuing computer science as a career, but after taking an AP class in computer science, it honestly wasn't for me. Along with taking AP computer science, I was taking both AP microeconomics and macroeconomics. I have never thoroughly enjoyed a class until taking these two AP courses. Although it might be the teacher that taught it, making it so enjoyable, I always involved myself in some form of business even when I was young. I would partake in buying and reselling "hyped items" to make a bunch of side money. For international relations, it was also a study that I didn't consider until applying for college. For my family and myself, we have the opportunity to fly around the world once every year to a new country, like France, Sweden, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, etc. Traveling around the world and exploring new places has always been so fascinating to me. So in doing so, I hope to use economics and international relations to continue what I love to do, but on a larger scale. Although nothing is set in stone, I hope to focus my career internationally in a tech-business centered career.

What traveling experience was the most impactful to you?
I think traveling to any European country has always been so memorable to me. It's very hard to choose a specific country but traveling to Europe has always been an amazing experience. The architecture, history, unbelievable food, easy public transportation, and the environment itself is just so special to me. This year (if the virus blows over) I was to travel to Dublin and travel around that part of Europe independently.

What are some of your hobbies?
Aside from meep, as I said previously, I usually buy and resell "hyped goods" as a side hustle. I invest a good amount of time to buy shoes and what not to sell for a larger price. Other than that, I am into photography and filming. I use a Canon Rebel t6i, 70d, and 80d. I used to do short films for fun and editing them with adobe premiere pro. For photography, I used to do a paid system doing self portraits for events like graduation, prom, or just in general.

Coming back to Meep, what have you been doing on the server since you got back?
Since my return, I have just been involving myself with the community a lot more than I would've in 2013. I've been messing around in Legion in towny extreme, voice calling a bunch of the meep people, and dicing all my money away to Viper and Spongeystar.

What’s been the craziest moment so far?
Craziest moment? Not to put names but there was a town hall meeting in regard of towny extreme with like 50+ people in the same vc. It was extremely quiet and as Clue was ready to start the meeting, someone proceeded to use the bathroom and the audio of just someone peeing was quite the highlight of my meep return.

What’s been the most unexpected thing about coming back to Meep?
I honestly did not expect many of the OG meep players (from the time I've played) to be around the same age as me and experiencing the same things I am going through. Back in 2013, I thought everyone was like in their 20s playing and I remember thinking "don't say anything dumb or else you'd be exposed as that one dumb 12 year old." But to my surprise, a lot of the players were in the same shoes as myself. It is honestly such a surreal experience to think that a lot of the meep players, and myself, grew up but are coming back now, as if it's a sitcom reunion show like Friends lol. To me and many others, it seems that Meepcraft grew up alongside us.

As many of you have might figured out vshop has been specific to each world. Luckily that will be changing and it should be the same vshop on every world/server going foward. To do this the vshop will be wiped, meaning players need to remove their items before we can implement it cross server.

This was mostly a day where we were fixing bugs and unintended behavior in the server.

Notable changes during this update:

• Fixed previous performance issues with database queries on some plugins.
• Currency: You can now use /pay to pay both offline players, and pay people cross server. It will only pay one person at a time, and will pay the person the closest similarity to the name you type.
• Staff: Refined their abuse commands.
• Staff: Schematics are now cross-server.
• Parkour: Fixed players not getting prize money
  
• Parkour: Fixed issue that caused staff to be unable to change the prizes & cooldowns.
• Parkour: You can no longer /tpahere in Planet Parkour.
• Towny/Skyblock: Minecarts and boats are no longer cleared by ClearLag.
• KitPvP: Item frames are now rotated correctly.
• KitPvP: Fixed scoreboard.
• KitPvP: Fixed issue that caused staff to be unable to edit permissions within the specific location.
• Teamspeak: Updated to the latest version to fix annoying popup.

I'll have more fixes tomorrow as I have an entire list in front of me of things to fix. I'm adding one big feature a day, starting with a few features for staff today, so don't be worried

It has been over two years since Meeptimes began! In that time, countless writers have contributed to not only keep it going, but continually expanding its content and interest. In twenty-five months, there have been fifty editions of the Meeptimes, with an average word count of one thousand, six hundred words! For the more statistical readers, there are approximately 77,982 words in the previous forty-nine editions, made up of 438,216 characters.

Storytime with the Crew - The Tragedy of Darth Clueless the Ruthless

Clueless quickly reread the script. “Alright, that should be done. Can you give that a readthrough, Mid?” Midnight took the script, had a quick readthrough and gave a thumbs-up. “Should be ready to go. Nice job, CK.”

Clueless smiled. “Thanks. It’s gotta be something special for our 50th edition. Meeptimes has come a long way,”

“It sure has. The story idea is great, but isn’t it supposed to be based on something that actually happ..?” A woosh of wind swept past Midnight and Clueless, and they heard a sound of breaking glass, suddenly rendering them blind for a few seconds. When vision returned, Midnight coughed. “What was that?” she questioned, puzzled.

“I don’t know. A disturbance in the force, I sense.”

“Not more of your Star Wars jokes, CK! We have a problem! The script is gone!” Midnight looked on the ground around her. If t simply was the wind, it couldn’t be too for away. She and Clueless searched the bushes around, but nothing. There was only one thing to conclude.

“I don’t think that was a woosh of wind. That must’ve been an ambush. The glass? That was a potion. This was set up,” Clueless concluded.

CK and Mid checked some logs - who was it? And only one name popped up in the result - AdrianBFaust.

“Adrian! What do you think you’re doing? That’s for staff eyes only! You can’t just go swiping things from Midnight,” Clueless confronted in Nation Chat.

“What are you talking about, CK? I’ve been working on Operation Takeover, like you said!” Adrian defended.

“Well, tell me how these logs say you took a specific piece of paper from Midnight, then. Logs don’t lie.”

“I don’t know! I didn’t take it! I swear!”

Clueless was still skeptical; teleporting to Adrian, he checked the logs in the vicinity. Was there a chest opening? A teleport? A /chest, or /ec? But nothing. Adrian was innocent. He had been here for the last hour, working on Operation Takeover.

“Alright, fine. Nothing here. Sorry,” apologised Clueless.

“It’s all good, man. Oh, by the way, we got some updates on Operation Takeov...”

“Shh! Not here! People could be listening! Do you know how insecure local chat can be?”

Adrian paused. “Well, I do now. Talk on Discord later.”

Clueless gave a small wave, and teleported back to Midnight.

“Anything? We need that paper back. Lord wants to post this edition, and he’s getting unhappy. We’re gonna be late,” Midnight asked, clearly concerned.

“No. Adrian didn’t have it,” Clueless confirmed.

Midnight checked the logs again - and it was still there. ‘AdrlanBFaust - item_throw(potion) - 15 min ago’.

“It’s still the same thing. Adrian threw it. So he had to have taken it.” Midnight concluded.

“No, wait a sec. Check the logs again. Pay attention to the name,” Clueless requested.

Midnight, wondering what on Earth Clueless was up to, checked again. “AdrlanBFaust“.

“Aha! It’s a different name. What a sneaky guy...” smiled Midnight. “So we go get him?”

Clueless nodded. “We go get him.”

The duo teleported to the name, technically AdrLanBFaust. They quickly /vanish’d, looking around and talking in messge to hide their presense. They were in a mesa biome, in Towns. The town that had claimed the plot - “douknodawae”. Quite ironic; the duo did know the way. Quickly flying down deep into the plot, they discovered hundreds and hundreds of pistons, creating a rackety din in the depth of the area. Water flowed at the bottom, gradually levelling out into a hopper. It was a duping system, no doubt about that.

“This is... interesting,” said Midnight, in awe at the sheer scale of the system. “How did we not discover this until now?” she inquired.

Clueless, leaning from foot to foot on the deep floor of the plot, shuffled anxiously, appearing to be in deep thought. “I don’t know. And this is very, very strange,” he admitted.

They found AdrLan a short while later - in the depths of the plot. Through a small, 1x2 tunnel that seemed to go on forever, he was there. Flicking levers and buttons, and oh, the beacons. So many beacons. And in the middle of countless, countless beacons was the paper. The paper that the duo needed.

Clueless sensed a smell. A smell of... potion. A creation of AdrLan’s, he was not sure. He wasn’t going to risk going in there without potions of himself. Quickly collecting potions of invisibility and harming from his /chest, he gave some to Midnight, and threw them at his feet, hoping the sound of the breaking glass wouldn’t alert AdrLan to their presence.

Through the racket of the pistons, the glass broke. The duo froze, waiting for AdrLan’s next move, but nothing. He didn’t move. He hadn’t heard the potions.

Clueless let out a long, quiet sigh. They were in.

Sneaking as they walked, they made their way behind AdrLan, and observed the machine. It was intense. The beacons changed color every millisecond, it seemed. And the paper inside was constantly being pushed aside by the pistons behind the beacons. And the racket, oh, it was unbearable. Clueless privately messaged Midnight, saying, “I’m going to get my bow out. Become visible, then negotiate with him. If he tries to escape, all he will see is my bow.”

Midnight grinned. “Sounds like a good plan.” And with that, she toggled her /vanish.

AdrLan jumped in surprised. “Oh my… what are you doing here? I’m not doing anything! Nothing! I swear! I’m not!” he shouted over the din of the pistons. Midnight smiled, wincing as the pistons pierced her ears. “We’re only here for the paper! Turn the pistons off! Now!” she demanded.

AdrLan shouted, “No! The process is almost complete. Soon, the MeepCraft Server, Forums and Discord will all be destroyed! And it will be my doing!” he laughed, an evil type of laugh.

Clueless looked at Midnight. She’s not going to crack under the pressure. She’s not. Sweat dripping off her face, Midnight shouted. “I’m going to give you one last time! Turn off the pistons!”

AdrLan sighed. “What are you going to do about it?”

And that was CK’s cue.

He fired.

The arrow found its mark. He slumped to the floor. With a puff of smoke, his lifeless body disappeared. CK quickly toggled his vanish, and yelled, “Quickly, we need to turn this machine off and get out of here!” He walked over to the beacons, and with his Nutcracker, started breaking them in hope to reach the paper before anything worse could happen.

Midnight found a big, red button on his desk over the wailing sirens. She sincerely hoped it was the kill switch, and hit it as hard as she could.

The plot went silent.

And a voice came from the tunnel.

“You didn’t expect it to be that easy, did y…”

And the world exploded.

The sky was raining fire. Chunks of clay, stone and grass fell through the air, breaking to pieces as they burned in mid-air. CK sat up, looked around; Midnight was lying on the ground. He crawled over to her – unresponsive. There was no time for romantic ending shenanigans. He picked her up, walked over to the bundle of beacons and grabbed the paper. As much as he hated the millions and millions of Meebles that were lost in these beacons, he had to go. This plot was about to go sky-high.

He tried a /warp towns. ‘Error: You do not have permission to execute this command.’ Clueless frowned, and tried again. ‘Error: You do not have permission to execute this command.’ Panicking, he went back through the tunnel they had came through, hoping to fly out of the plot before it went up. Hoping it wouldn’t cave in, he stepped in, and saw none other than AdrLan himself. He looked over at the figure, low health and low hunger. “You haven’t seen the last of me, I promise you that,” said AdrLan, before he disappeared with a poof of smoke.

Clueless shook his head. Using the control key to the best of his ability, he sprinted through the tunnel, flew up above the plot and watched from the sky as the mesa biome exploded. TNT had been placed all throughout the plot – Clueless guessed it was for this exact reason. He smiled. ‘That’s one more thing we don’t have to worry about, I guess.’

Lord was shouting.

“Are you guys done yet? It’s been hours! We need this story ready for the Times, or we’re not going to get it out on time!”

Clueless and Midnight sat on a slab at Towns spawn. They looked at each other, with a small smile. “We’re done. Have you got it, CK?” asked Midnight.

CK nodded, then checked his /chests. His smile disappeared. “I don’t have it.”

“What?! Are you serious? You’ve been wasting all this time?” Lord looked thoroughly disappointed. “Can you rewrite it quickly? We could still have time to get it out today…”

“I’m only kidding, Lord. It’s right here,” CK smiled, and showed him the piece of paper.

The Project - Valentines Day



What is the Valentines Day Project?

The Valentines Day project is a seasonal event in which spawn was decorated heavily, and a exclusive quest was added to celebrate the holiday!

What role did you fulfill in putting on this event?
I helped create the spawn and made up the idea and outline for the valentine’s day quest. - @xAlexbearx

The role I had with this event was writing the majority of the quest and helping lord test it and figure out solutions to the mini issues. - @Midnight_Galaxy

I made sure that a copy of the world was available for the architects to work on, coded the new quest, and implemented the Valentines world and quest plugin for St. Valentine's Day. - @LordInateur


Which part did you enjoy the most?
I was impressed by how smoothly this event went, and was happy to see that all staff members had the opportunity to come together to work on it. I don't think I had a specific part that I really enjoyed. - @LordInateur

I love making quests, making the characters, figuring how they will act and what they say. Basically telling a story, I love it! - @Midnight_Galaxy

I enjoyed mostly the making of the quest, but the spawn was fun too. - @xAlexbearx


Do you believe people have enjoyed the event?
I’ve been busy over these past few days, but I believe that a lot of people enjoy the spawn and some of it’s humor as well as the quest. - @xAlexbearx

When I was asking around about the quest people said they enjoyed it, they also gave suggestions for future quests which I will be taking on board in future! - @Midnight_Galaxy

Yeah, I think people always like new worlds and builds that pop on the server. - @LordInateur


Why do you believe it is necessary to do these kinds of events?

I think it’s important to honor a lot of holidays and special days to make the playerbase have some fun. Especially for the meepers that don’t have family or friends to spend holidays with, I think we should try our bests to make everyone’s holidays enjoyable. - @xAlexbearx

These events are necessary to keep the community engaged, because the community is the part of Meep that keep old players around and makes Meep exciting for new players. - @LordInateur

I don't know if it's necessary, I just think it's fun! You know have a specialised event or quest or anything for anything is fun. It's something different, encourages the community to get together and have fun! - @Midnight_Galaxy

Humans Of MeepCraft - Feat. @Lilliya

How did you first find the server?
The old Meepcraft trailer on YouTube. I didn't own Minecraft at the time (legally) until I saw the trailer. It had millions of viewers, I can't remember but it's out there somewhere.


What is your greatest achievement on Meepcraft?
My greatest, hmm... That's a tough one there, but I'd probably say changes on my behaviour. I used to be very toxic, I don't know if some of you know. In a sense I still am, but I try my hardest to lay off it. I would say the cheesy "getting staff", but in my point of view, I find my attitude more drastic and greater than becoming staff.


Which block is the best block and why?
Wow, this is harder than I thought. Oh, wait a minute - TNT is the best block.


If you could add one command to the server that could never be removed, what would it be and what would it do?
Oh boy. Everything I'm thinking of would get me banned! I'd probably add /vkl, and it'd be put in local to count VKL's ban count. Here's to hoping he gets unbanned soon, never forget.

Was that a suitable high five? I think so. I just wish my husband Kling would see me as a suitable partner.


Which day of the week is the best, and why?
'oof', Friday. That's the day I like to take walks, it feels relaxing on a Friday more than any other day. I have no reason to why, it just feels natural.

What in the bloody heavens is this? I can't say I've ever heard of it. What is this boulderdash? I mean, it's English, so I can understand it, sure.

Which (Star Wars) prequel movie is the best?
Had you said movie, I would have known straight off the bat, but for prequels... Probably the Godfather 2 or Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies. Wait, what? Star Wars? I've never seen a Star Wars! I didn't even know what a Jedi was until I was 17. I'm more of a war movies or fantasy type of guy.

Hello all. So after much debate its been decided that mending is to be removed for now.

BEFORE YOU FREAK OUT.
Fix notes have been added to voting, and this has allowed us to keep an otherwise scratched plan.

First what will happen:
A shop is being placed in spawn to sell your mending books. If you do not sell, they will turn into normal books at 4:00am.

Believe me, i know it stinks but its what needs to be done for now. You guys will be compensated with whats coming up however.

Along with the money you get for the books you have and the fix notes you can get, this has allowed us to create a new job in the upcoming jobs update. This job will be able to fix armor for players and get paid for it. This job was scratched until we realized how awesome it would be now.

Ill also be throwing $250,000 of my diamonds into lava today to uncelebrate this occasion. Yay.

Thank you for being understanding and we will work with some of you on a est server to see if we can reimpliment a less OP version of mending in the future.
