Introduction: Hi! I’m SpongeyStar, Spongey, Sponge, Spong, pongy (or pongy the dum, long story), and more recently ScaredyPants (to get in the festivities of Halloween, which I merely celebrate). Enough of the name blabbering, I enjoy playing with my friends on Meep and helping my town become bigger. I joined Meep back in September 2014 and joined a town owned by xtjunior. I was pretty clueless as to what to do so for the first few days I was talking to myself in local, thinking people would hear me (but no, I was rejected..). Now, you can normally find me in towny just jumping around the town or dicing my bank off, or in Parkour, battling against the ragequits. Either way, I probably play Meep a little too much.

In my out of Meep life, I regularly bake things and scroll through food videos on Buzzfeed Tasty. I’ve always wanted to create videos like theirs, or just make their recipes. I also watch shows such as Parks and Rec and Spongebob and practice my coding skills. I play badminton for my school a term a year and plan on learning Karate soon. Being in my 2nd last year of school I want to gain as many opportunities as I can! In school In school I study German, English, Digital Technology, Maths, Accounting and Physics. I plan on becoming some sort of programmer or software enginneer when I am older, as I love using my technology and coding.

I also have participated in the Duke of Edinburgh Award for close to 3 years now. I suggest anyone starting up because it teaches you a great deal of leadership and you also can do service to the community, learn a new skill or a new sport. And best of all, go on 18km tramps, with 10kg packs, with very steep terrain most of the time! Such fun.

Why should you be Helper? Now for the why. The why normally comes of as the most important part of an application, therefore I have broken it down to a few solid points to help get my point across.

· Experience - I’ve been playing Meep since 2014 and boy have I learnt a lot. Being on the staff team twice, I have learnt that from making mistakes,you learn quite a bit. I also had a lot of experience from solving cases from advertising and spamming to macroing and hacking. I have gained a great deal of teamwork and leadership skills from clubs I’m involved in school and sports I play.

· Work Ethic - I come off as immature to most of you but in a situation when I’m dealing with a modreq for example, I will make sure to contain myself and be a mature and reliable staff. The community doesn’t want to have an immature, irresponsible person helping them on the server - how could they trust them? I may look like I’m goofy but I know how to be mature when needed. As in my previous run as staff, I participated in writing outlines for a few things like UHS (which isn’t available anymore), writing new quest outlines and tutorial suggestions. I feel like I can work in a team well where I can input my suggestions, to make the server a better place.

· Dedication - As it is currently the holidays I’ve been online for mostly all day. However when school starts I’ll me allowing myself a set time to play Meep and focus on studies, which are important at this time of the year. If I am not in game, I am readily available on Discord and/or forums. I always try to put myself amidst a project in Meep, big or small, to keep myself occupied. Recently I’ve worked on helping Mow build his 80 plot mansion, helping with Vamp’s town spawn build, and for the nation I’ve helped out with the new Nation Capitol. Doing these projects helped me to understand what dedication meant. I sometimes felt like “I am so tired and don’t wanna have another bar of this” especially when things go out of line, but to see the finished projects makes me smile, because all this was due to dedication. I can bring my dedication through to the staff team to work on any project and stay on and help.

· Involvement - I do take part in discussions in game and forums regularly. As I am currently staff at Legend, I have been welcoming and housing a few of the new members. It makes me happy to know that they have a home and that they’ll hopefully stay on for longer. As I am in New Zealand, my timezone (Like the Australian staff) allows me to access Meep at the night times when most are sleeping. I think it’s good to have 1 or 2 staff on at these times because I’ve seen some ruckus going on here and there.


· Justification - I have many friends on Meep therefore that could lead to bias. However I will not let bias come in the way of staffing and will do what is right, correct to the rules . I have also had experience with hackers from other servers and I’m gaining skills in how to notice them better, to make Meep a safer community.

People normally think of me as someone who can’t take criticism and always is bias towards friends. Sure I use to be like that but I have a tough shell around me that lets me take all the criticism I am given.

In my first few applications I got called out as wanting to be staff ‘just for the tag.’ I don’t give a hootin’ darn about the teal coloured text beside my name, but I want to be that extra hand on the staff team when times are tough/busy, and give my positiveness through the team as well. You’ll probably say ‘oh but you can just help people even without the tag’ but really, at times there are probably so many modreqs and only a few staff online. Even if there are no modreqs it’s important that a staff is online. What if there’s a serious hacker in PvP that’s unaware of? Or even someone is just being plain rude to another player? I’m glad to be that extra hand to serve the community well.

What are your weaknesses? Immaturity & thinking about actions - It hurts me to put this in my weaknesses every time I apply - but it is true. I got denied a number of times due to my immaturity. You’ve probably seen me say ‘dum b O’ to darkknight and my other friends but I definitely don’t mean it (Heh.) It’s just a joke we have. However I feel everyone needs to have at least a little fun every now and then, but in my case I have fun 24/7 when I’m on Meep. To help stabilize my immaturity I plan thinking about my actions before completing them. I had trouble with this in the past, take gambling for example. I love to dice on Meep and I usually do with every meeble I have. I just kept dicing all my meebles until I was left with nothing. But I soon realised I’m not gonna get a good meeble bank if I dice it all, so I started putting them in gold blocks, and it helped me. So really thinking about things before doing them really helps me, especially on the immaturity side. Immaturity will always be a thing of me, it probably makes up who I am now. But I’ll just lessen it, I won’t delete it forever. I will tell myself: “Do I really want everyone to see this immature staff member?” Nope.

Discord - I am not the most active person in using spoken-Discord (though I’m ready for a text chat anytime). I am extremely shy but if it comes to staff meetings I’ll definitely put my head in and listen. I think it is important to see how the community is going and chat with one another

Bias - Like I previously mentioned, I have many friends on this server. There’s a tendency to be bias against them and hold back on bans when they actually deserve it. I won’t let our friendship come in the way of this, I will still be their friend but if they do wrong they will be served right. They’ll understand, surely.

I agree with this. You're a wonderful friend and you've grown so much, but it is not a convenient time to be applying for staff. Without followers, people can't be leaders, and adding too many staff makes a server incapable of effectively doing it's job.
However, I am not staff and they are the ones who know by profession what the server needs, so I'll let them be the judge of that.

These aren't things that define maturity, these are parts of your personality that make you enjoy life and have a sense of humor. I've said a lot of bizarre/dirty things that confuse people and my friends are never sure where any of my thoughts come from, but I was still given three leadership positions last year and I'm training to be a leader as a profession. Actions speak louder than words, and saying things like "dumb O" doesn't subtract from your value as a friend or a leader. If anything, I'd say it makes people more comfortable because it let's players know that they are able to have fun and be themselves around you. Don't be so hard on yourself!

Considering that I have only come back recently, I don't expect my thoughts to be taken heavily, and I don't want them to. But it hurts me how long you think you've been immature, because that's not true. Even in the past, I don't remember seeing that as a trait that could of hindered you. Be more confident in yourself, you don't deserve to believe that this is a part of your personality.

I'm going to say the same thing I said on another person's application: You're a great canidate (experienced, nice, helpful) but there's too many people on the staff team for what the server needs right now (expecially people on the team with the same exact qualities as you), unless you can code like mad and happen to not want to destroy the server. So I won't vote but I don't think you should be interviewed/put on the team at the moment. Best of luck sponge-o

 

I see there being no need for addition moderation staff at this time due to the playerbase being so low.
