I love how we call white people out then have affirmative action programs that give certain groups (not usually white) and advantage over any other person.

It's like I can't have a civil debate about racial issues with someone without them trying to brush off my point of view because I'm white. Honestly, there likely is some white privilege to a degree, but that's the case for almost any country where a certain race or ethnic group is the majority. Problem is, people seem to have this belief that all white people are privileged and all black people are oppressed, which is just incorrect. The "privilege" one has depends largely on wealth. Will Smith is loaded, can give his kids a great future, and he lives in a great area with practically no crime. Is he more oppressed than a white person living below the poverty line in a trailer park?

Black people have significantly higher rates of poverty than white people. This is likely because of the fact that it's only been about 50 years since the civil rights movement. Nobody will ever be able to properly address racial issues in the US without acknowledging that money plays the biggest role

People who have stereotypical African American names get something like 50% less callbacks when they send identical resumes to employers. This suggests that the other numerical disparities we see between blacks and whites are due to race, and that when employers know the race of potential employees they factor that in.

Is this supposed to somehow justify employers discriminating against black people?

but what if the employer is black? wouldn't white people be discriminated against? discrimination is natural, white people are just the ones who get called out for it

Are white people subconsciously perceived negatively? Also something being natural doesn't mean it is moral.

you know why? blacks discriminate against whites just like whites discriminate against blacks. It's "linked fate" they're like you, so you watch their backs I guess

No, and racial discrimination does likely exist in the work place. Thing is, it's probably not just limited to black people. When I was 16, I tried applying to a McDonald's for a job. Didn't get it. I later found out that the manager that interviewed me hates white people... Called my friend behind her back (who worked there at the time) stupid because she's white. He said it in Spanish so she couldn't overhear him talking about her. Kind of makes me wonder if that had anything to do with my interview

    muh anecdotes.
You would be able to observe black employers disadvantaging white job applicants if this was true.

The employer was hispanic -- not black. Although, that's aside the point because it still has to do with bias against white people in the workplace. A manager calling someone stupid for being white is never acceptable.

I'm sure black people are more disadvantaged than white people. I'm not here to play a game of tug-of-war on who gets the most oppression. But people seem to deny that anyone can ever be racist against a white person, but that's simply not the case. When a black person is in a position of power over a white person, there is always the possibility of racial discrimination.

Some people get this idea that because they are oppressed, they suddenly see everyone from the "privileged" group as the oppressor unless they somehow prove themselves otherwise. And this has lead to some forms of racism against white people. I've seen people argue that no minority can ever be racist, and that anything they do that would really equate to racism is nothing more than being "prejudice". That's just not correct. You can be racist against white people. It's just less common and not as big of an issue.

I didn't say it was acceptable. Regardless it is an individual example (anecdote) so it proves just about nothing.

Nobody on this thread said that, there is no reason to bring it up.

I was talking more in general. As in, I don't care whether or not anyone in this thread was talking about that. But whatever

It seems you only care about statistical data if you don't care about anything I've said. Am I right?

If you are going to make a broad assertion about society you need to be able to back it up with data about society, not data about you.

There absolutely is white privilege - That is just how the cookie has crumbled given Europe ruled the world for hundreds and hundreds of years. If China and other Asian nations ruled the world for that amount of time there would be an Asian privilege.

Should white people feel bad about it and actively try to depress their own standing? No, in my opinion that's just dumb. I enjoy my white privilege and don't complain when others are given a leg up nor do I try to depress their standing as well.

Things are what they are, and they will certainly change.
