There are a ton of reasons for why the server is dead, several of which but not all can be attributed to the admins and developers. And, because of some of them, no "plan" will ever bring the server back to life.

For one, its player base way back when all grew up. Minecraft as a whole is dying and there are a host of objectively better games out there, an economy based towny server that for some reason focused on 4-5 new spawn iterations and stupid minigames just isn't appealing to anyone.

Also, the current environment is potentially the most boring thing I've ever seen. Ever since the "family friendly" label started being applied to the server, it just made playing on it seem disingenuous, similar to Ninja's reluctance to swear on stream during the height of his streaming career . I can't speak for the three people that are currently enjoying it as I write this, but the social aspect that made the server fun for people like me just isn't there anymore. No one has any sense of humor, and it just seems lifeless.

As for why the server is completely devoid of culture? I can't really say for sure. It could be the developers' aforementioned reluctance to actually address any pressing issues pertaining to the actual backbone of the server, and how that killed off the server population that was legitimately fun to be around. It could be that those people just grew up and stopped playing Minecraft. I don't have enough information to effectively identify the cause of the server's death with 100% certainty; I just know for a fact that the playerbase that brought the server to its former glory is gone, and it's never coming back.

Sorry if this seemed like a hate thread, but I seriously don't see how people continue to think it's possible to revive a minecraft towny server in 2019, especially with how boring the community is. Like ffs, my post of my 1v1 with Caleb got deleted because I used Gucci Flip Flops as the music (yikes roxy). Vlad is permabanned because he made a bad, edgy joke about some admin's wife. Next time someone says something about white people having no culture, show them this forum.

Most work currently is being put into the general economy and gameplay mechanics. KitPvP is in open Beta currently, which means it’s cut off from everything else for testing purposes of the kits. In full release, everything ties into the greater economy.

We have decided to abandon updating to 1.13 entirely due to its incredible lack of performance (approximately 60% more latency than any operation carried out in 1.12) and move to 1.14 after its release.

Towns is the primary focus of our developers, while I work on other things since I lack the experience and knowledge to develop things for the towny plugin as of yet. Regardless, there is a plan in place and it is being worked on.

One thing just lead to another to another. Meep never learned its lessons when it should've, and this is the result. I don't regret the thousands of hours I spent browsing forums or playing the game and I've definitely learned a lot from the server and its people as a whole, but I don't think Meep learned. It was just one blow after another, some were inevitable, some were preventable but countless mistakes just lead to what we have here now. 2013's MN + CG was the first instance, where some questionable decisions were made and we started over anew from there. After that, we had ups and downs but EULA came, bugs, nothing getting done, and just rules being too strict and chasing away large portions of the playerbase. To top it all off, we didn't even learn from MN and had our servers reset, leading into Towny today with really nothing to do.

I'm thankful to Clue to all the work that he's done, as most the other staff who've done their part.

But I don't know if there's coming back from this one.

Meep was a community first and foremost, it wasn't always about the game. People had arguments, disagreements, etc. But in the end, people came back.

Without those people here, it's going to be extremely hard to pull off another revival. Minecraft as a whole isn't what it used to be for a lot of us, and I hate to be the pessimist here, but maybe it's just time.

A mass unban will not work when updating to the latest version. Majority of the server must be working or else the efforts will be a waste.

    a roadmap i suppose.

do the admins have full access to server files? is fuzzlr's absence delaying certain issues from being fixed? the server says it supports 1.13, except if you try to log in with 1.13.1 or 13.2 it doesnt work. it also actually doesn't work with 1.13 either, it just kicks you. so it's 1.12...?

im glad that kitpvp is coming in now, but shouldn't towns be more of a focus? i'm not sure what the teams plan is right now... but i hope that we might get to hear a bit more sometime soon.

edit: i would personally just like to see all focus put into one thing and polish it. lots of things are on meepcraft, and all of those things were once great. but over time, due to a lack of maintenance each one of those things has deteriorated... i think it'd be best to cut the dead weight so that players can be more ... centralized i'm not sure if that's the right word. the server is small, so spreading players out on a lot of things might be a bad idea. makes the server seem... smaller than it already is.

i had a gander through the MeepLabs stuffs and i noticed that one of the claims on there was that they created the worlds #1 minecraft server... this was nearly true a few years ago. it's practically impossible to reach that point again but it's a shame that it's not the way it used to be. i just hope something can be done
