What does being staff mean to you?

Hope I'm not the only one that felt like this when I was Helper (pretty bad one at that) but many times when I got on there were always modreqs abound. Almost constantly there's modreqs, and it's a challenge to be able to do them all thoroughly. I felt as though I should try to help as many people when I can, but also in a good manner.

As staff, it was a fun time, you get to know other staff members and trust them with stuff. The majority of the time I spent was nice, and I learned quite a few things. However, I was only a Helper, which frankly, to me has much less responsiblity than mods and higher. Obviously, it still takes a good amount of effort to do it, but in my opinion, you get judged more harshly by others the higher your rank.

Once I got demoted, my opinion had changed from before I was staff. Originally I didn't see how much time you could spend just helping people to people, and I didn't really have enough of that time. I still expect staff to try their best to help people out and not do a sloppy job, but you cut them some slack once you realize how much time and effort they spend on others.

Again, this is only my opinion, and a lot of it might be inaccurate because
A) it was a long time ago
Or B) wasn't exactly a good staff member

 

staff don't get paid man, theres only 2 people that get paid and thats fuzzlr- He gets all the donation money and yes sometimes theres extra that he may use. and the other person is Dblo- he gets paid for all the coding he does to make this server better.

 

Dblo is supposed to get paid, only if he asks to be paid is he

hes a tech. techs and certain archs get paid. moderation staff dont.

 

Well to me... Honestly I see the majority of helpers as blatant attention seekers. Mods are a bit more helpful. Supermods I've got no opinion on. Admins I honestly prefer if they just do their job and stfu, and if they do have to talk, do it modestly and not scream out 'I'm an admin watch me give away 10mil, which is why I like Onis and Sjoe. Fuzzlr... Just no. Just no bro.

tl;dr - Lot of work, lot of arguing for things that are simply common sense, and virtually no return, in the end, for the hours you put in.

Staff do not get paid. Some Architects get paid $$, and techs get paid $$.

 

It means a lot to be a staff member. Being a staff member on a server does not mean you can abuse your power, it means you have been assigned to help out the players and help the community.

 

Being a staff member means you answer questions that literally anyone with knowledge of the server can answer and you get a lot more likes on the forums.

Also you bring good ideas to higher staff who deny them because no one is open to any change
There's also a lot of drama and cliques

Being a staff member isnt just a name and a pretty teal chat color.

It's a family and a new story that's starting.
Staff requires the most tough traits to keep. Perception patience and responsibility. I believe only people that have those traits can be staff.
