i mean, i don't really play anymore. but i'm just confused as to why fuzzlr is keeping the server up... surely the 'donations' can't be enough to pay for all this server hosting and other things(techs sometimes have to be paid) with the playerbase as small as it is(what is it, 8 servers? more?)

he must be using out of pocket money - but why? every time i check he hasnt been online in atleast 2-3 weeks. the last post he made was just for a sale on 'donations'

soo... he's just kinda spending money for something he doesn't even really use? i dunno

the server's great, the community is probably one of the strongest i've seen with people still here after almost 5 years and all... but i just don't understand why it's all staying together

When I first joined after the reset, I got welcomed by a lot of people an that made me feel good and made feel welcome to join the community, and although there were a lot of people on when I was usually on. Over the next couple weeks I started to talk to more people, and I would watch the chat and all, and I learned about all the different people on the server.

I felt like I knew them and I figured out who the regulars on the server were and since it was so such a small and tight community I learned everyone's usernames pretty quick. It was nice not to have a irregular pattern of people on so you can become close and maybe connect, and it just makes you love the server more.

I think the server is good if you have friends that you have stuff to do with on the server. If your friends leave for whatever reason, then it isn't fun because you want things to be like they were before but obviously you can't recreate that same feeling with other people :/

I think it has one of the least toxic communities of any server out there. (you still get a few bad apples though) Parkour here is better than most parkour servers imo. Towny is good and whenever I feel in the mood of playing some Minecraft again I sometimes play. Definitely a gem of a server.
Overall, I think it is a great server.

I used to play on this server, and it was a lot of fun. Competing to be #1 on /baltop, giving away my fortune in crazy contests, even being a staff member for a bit. I tried logging in the other day and saw that the population is down, and all the old stuff is gone, and I got a little sad. Hopefully this server can rebound and be fun again. I'll check back in a couple months and see.

Servers don't cost as much as you think. I believe it's around $40 a month for a server capable of hosting meep. Money still is flowing in and enough had been flowing in the past to keep it up. Also I believe even with his great in activeness fuzzlr has a soft spot for meep.

Unfortunately there's nothing anyone can do about the decline of the server. Realistically, Meepcraft will close down in the foreseeable future. I've played on and off for the guts of 5 years, but I feel EULA and blacklisting was the final nail in the coffin for the server.

However, I don't agree with MeepNetworks and how it was handled. It took Fuzzlr months to realise the damage it was doing to the server. At the start of MeepNetworks the server peeked at 1000+ people and at the end it barely broke 300.

The server was never going to be around forever, but it's possible that the lifespan of it could have been prolonged if some of the people in leadership positions had made better choices and had been less greedy.

I disagree. Meepcraft isn't that expensive to keep up (as stated above), and even with the low amount of players donations alone are probably enough. I agree with MeepNetworks killing the server though.
