Best Posts in Thread: Ways to make 5,000-20,000$ a summer?
-
Okay so. Lets say you find a job that pays 10$ an hour (you'd be pretty lucky tbh) I've been working for two years with no formal education and the most I've made is 12.5$ and my brothers who have bachelors degrees make aboyt 16$
So 10 is a very reasonable number, you'd probably make a little bit less but lets just use this as a guide.
10$/hr * 40 hrs a week (8hrs a day 5 days a week) is 400, subtract 20% for taxes and you'd be left with about 320 a week.
Per check would be about 640$
Assuming you have a three month summer (no idea how long yours really is.
Estimate about two checks a month so
1280*3= 3840$ that's how much money you made this summer, not including gas to and from work and other expenses.
I worked two full time jobs for three months and made 7950$.
I woke up at 3:45am did chores at home, took a shower and drove 20minutes to work and then started job 1 at 5:30am worked outside all day doing hard labor to turn around and got off at 2pm to drive down the road to work at Job 2 working from 2pm-10pm then taking another 20minutes home and go to bed. I did that Monday, Thursday, and Friday.
Tuesday and Wednesday I worked job 1 7am-4pm
and Saturday and Sunday I worked job 2 2pm-10pm and very often I worked job 1 as well at random hours throughout the mornings if there was things to do (typically there was).
So I worked on average 80 hours a week, yes I said week. That's what most people do bi-weekly
I'm not saying it's impossible to make 5,000 in one summer, but you need to be prepared to work you're ass off. Chances are you'd have no time for Minecraft.
You need to keep in mind the expense of working, clothes, lunches, and transportation. If you're working a job to buy a car there's no reason you're parents should be paying for your work clothes and lunches ect...

Okay so...last time I checked a 13 year old cannot make 5-20k in one summer. Especially since your only 13, you legally cannot get a job.

hey! As you guys know, I'm 13, and like Range Rovers. Because new they're 130k, I need a way to buy a used one. To pay for my dad to drive me to one and me to drive back would cost a lot, on top of the 13k or so for a used one. So, I need to know a way to make the amounts stated above in ways for the next 5 years that don't interfere with schooling, leaving enough so my parents don't hound me for blowing my money on a luxury car. Oh, and for those concerned about where I'd keep it, I have a 6 car driveway, and we only have 2 cars. So, plenty of space.
This is Canadian dollars, so don't go crazy. It's about 3,000-13,000US--- Double Post Merged, Apr 24, 2016, Original Post Date: Apr 24, 2016 ---

Why buy a Range Rover now if you can't drive tell you are 15-16... I suggest you save up for the next 2-3 years. I am 16 I worked as a lifeguard for 20 hours a week for a span of a few months and I was able to buy a $2000 dollar computer. I am not saying that it isn't dueable... I am just saying if you work for the next three years and work I would bet you could make $10 grand in three years...
Though what I suggest you do is a few of the following:
1.) Open a lawn mowing business, I mow 10 of my neighbors lawn every week in the summer and I make $20 per lawn so $200 per week
2.) I don't exactly know what job you can get at 13... But I started my job at the pool making $8.50 a hour and now after pay raises I make $9.00
3.) Ask around your house if there is any chores needed done. Most parents like when you work to get something, and they try to help you out
4.) Myself have invested 2.5k in stocks and I recommend you do the research and invest in some not too risky stocks
5.) I am starting to go into Bitcoin mining but you need a large investment to do it, my dad and I are going 50/50 in investing 5k in it
6.) Don't play minecraft/don't ask a minecraft server filled with kids for money advice
I am going to say it will be almost impossible to make 20k in a single summer without a formal education... Though this is a better option. I swear no one will see the differnce, and it is the newest version!
But maybe my tips can help you or someone elseLast edited: Apr 24, 2016FunGUY, n00bslayer_99, cooey and 3 others like this.
