Turning Shout Off

I'm actually very against the toggle-ability of certain channels. You have no idea what you're going to miss by turning each channel on/off.

 

True but I feel maybe you can have it where if someone is gonna say something important, like Fuzzlr or staff, then they can just turn it on for everyone using a command like /globalchat on all. I see where you are coming from though.

 

It's not even that. it's when you miss a really awesome deal on something, or someone's buying a lot of something you have a lot of, or there's an event you'd have liked to go too.
That's why I'm putting a -1.

 

Well then you have to sacrifice it. I know of a lot of people who would like to talk in local more then getting a good deal or something.

 

You're still not going to convince me with this. I think we'll find a lot more irritated people than satisfied by turning global or world off.

 

Well then they don't have to turn it off if they don't want to. Its not forced is just for the people who want to do it.

 

I'm somewhat on the fence on this one. I can understand both the arguments for and against this suggestion. My main concern regarding this change is that the global chat might devolve into even more ads. There are already too many people advertising casinos, pwarps, etc, and I'm pretty sure this is one of the reasons behind this suggestion. People don't want to see excessive, annoying ads. My point is that if the people who once had nice conversations in global leave global chat, then global will have proportionally more ads and less actual content. However, I have always been interested in avoiding those advertisements myself, so I'll give this a +/-.

 

I think you guys didn't get his point, he wants to disable global & world chat and keep chatting in local, so these two options wont really help him.

 

Ok i got an idea to add on to this. U can set chat channels, When u go to a different one, u dont hear anything from another, Also, all you hear is /msg and everyone in chat channel

 

That's a pretty good idea but may get a little confusing for new players. But If staff can explain it well then it would be good.

+1 I personally sometimes play with friends on my 'loraxthepug' account because they don't have minecraft. My friends have little siblings and if someone were to start shouting inappropriate things in chat such as obscienties, curse words, racial slur, etc then it can create problems. So I believe this is an AWESOME idea, and a great way to prevent preventable problems!I think there should also be a command to turn off local chatting and msg chatting for the very same reasons stated above and also a good way for people to deal with harassment until their modreq is answered. (I also think that for the /msg and /l chatting mods,helpers, fuzzlr and etc staff should be immune just so that if there is something really important needed to get across by a staff member they could.)
