It was our fault that we previously articulated to Hornemans that it was OK to engage in the activity that caused him to be banned. We did ultimately ban him for the same activity later on, seeing as it was contrary to our interpretation of the rules. However, we reviewed our previous correspondences with Hornemans that showed we had previously greenlighted this behavior. Therefore it was necessary to re-review the ban. We have informed Hornemans our new stance on the issue and interpretation of the rule so that he does not violate it again, and additionally clarified this in the Server Rules to be more clear in future situations.

I will be extending the ban to a temporary ban to provide assurance that the proper discipline was applied. In the meantime, we are having internal discussions about whether we will be taxing or eliminating his account balance.

This is the response people needed in the first place and not the ‘rE-ReAD tHe RuLEs’ mumbo jumbo. I’m glad you’ve provided a clear and full answer to this though, because as a result I think a less toxic and more thorough discussion can take place. Thank you for the clear up.

The point is that the old rules were vague as to whether what Hornemans was doing is punishable, since it was not specifically stated. With this case arising, staff members have amended the rules in order to specifically identify what Hornemans was doing as punishable. However, since the situation occurred whilst the old, vague rules were in place, Hornemans has not broken said rules and thus cannot be punished under them.

You could argue that by injecting money into the economy he was causing detriment to the welfare of the economy, therefore committing "acts against the server", however that statement in itself is incredibly vague and could be interpreted any number of ways. I know this probably isn't the place, but I would like to suggest that specific boundaries are labeled as to what qualifies as an "act against the server".

Nevertheless, I thank Fuzzlr for his response to this, as it outlines the situation in full and allows us the users to make reasonable and calculated conclusions.

Hornemans has played for many years he obviously knew what he was doing wasn't good, or he knew there was a fault in the system its like saying someone can swear because it wasn't clear enough for them in the rules. He had a conscious mind about what he was doing whether he knew how bad it was or not. Thankfully Fuzzlr realised this and is taking the correct actions!

"MeepCraft Staff reserves the right to use good judgement for punishments and ban lengths, along with combined infractions. Lying to a staff member will also result in a harsher punishment.

This rules list cannot possibly hope to cover all instances of behavior that is detrimental to the servers or community, thus the MeepCraft Staff reserves the right to warn, kick, or ban players deemed to be detrimental as well as the right to form new rules when needed. I have read the updated rules. Nowhere does it say why Hornemans was unbanned. It also has no mention of why other cheaters that have carried out similar acts against the server remain banned. Would you please re-read my question and answer it?
