Clearly, everyone understands that on this server, 'donate' means exchanging money in return for perks. Is it really false advertising in that case?

If meepcraft would use this as it's Term of Service then you guys have no real argument:

Perks. Throughout your Meepcraft experience, you may accumulate "Perks," which constitutes a limited license right to use a feature of Meepcraft when, as, and if allowed by Meepcraft. Perks are a fictional aspect used in the world of Meepcraft. Meepcraft may charge fees for the right to use Perks, or may distribute Perks without charge, in its sole discretion. Regardless of terminology used, Perks represents a limited license right governed solely under these Terms, has no real value, and is not transferable or redeemable for any sum of money or monetary value from Meepcraft at any time. You agree that Meepcraft has the absolute right to reduce, manage, regulate, control, modify and/or eliminate Perks as it sees fit in its sole discretion, and that Meepcraft will have no liability to you based on its exercise of such rights. Notwithstanding any other language to the contrary, as used in these Terms and throughout Meepcraft in the context of Perks transfers: (a) the term "sell" means "to transfer for consideration to another Member or Meepcraft the licensed right to use Perks in accordance with these Terms" and (b) the term "buy" means "to receive for consideration from another Member or Meepcraft the licensed right to use Perks in accordance with these Terms." Meepcraft may halt, suspend, discontinue, or reverse any Perks transaction (whether proposed, pending or past) in cases of actual or suspected fraud, violations of these Terms or other laws or regulations, or deliberate disruptions to or interference with Meepcraft Online.

You receive a non-tangible virtual asset. This asset can't even be used in the physical world, you can't sue meep and have a judge order them to give you your virtual goods that only exist on Meeps own website. With proper wording they can legally declare the transfer of perks for money as a donation.

Denied, this is all worked wonderfully for the past 3 years, there is little need to change it now. If you're uncomfortable with the wording, then the choice is yours to make whether you donate or not.
