Stock market?!?!?

They were removed for a massive abuse in the system.

The abuse was quite simple: the plugin checked stock prices through public websites (I believe ours ran off Yahoo Finance, not clear on that, though). The public websites were updated every five minutes to conserve their server resources from constantly having to change. However, the market is obviously in real time. Therefore, you could purchase an app or something more reliable to track stocks, and you'd know what the market would do five minutes later, give or take.

 

Make something that randomly simulates stock prices that are not real?

Im sure there are a few people in the meep community who could help.

 

I thought about this. Then I wrote pseudocode for it. I realized that without real world events influencing stock prices it becomes a random number generator and the speculation involved in a real market would be meaningless.

 

Imagine if we had a plugin that took into account all of the actions and purchases related to the economy and used them to calculate stocks? I'm not saying we should, as that would be incredibly complicated, but still... Cool idea

 

It was abused by being abused. Duping the stocks, buying Chinese stocks that fluctuate millions per day, the server updated the prices a few minutes after a stock moved IRL so people would buy before it moved on Meep. Theirs no solution with it right now. Im not going to fight back and fourth to make it barely work when it will just be abused again.

 

Make it so ours don't fluctuate so much and it should fix it xD

Also We could do the town stock or player stock too and you could not be able to buy into your own stock! If you buy into a town it would not only provide building funds but could fix itself up more too!

 

So what I'm getting from this is that you all:
Want it to work exactly like you want it to
Affect the community
Be bassed on meep.

If you have demands this strict, all I have to say is:

 

Do you even know what the stock market is?

 

Very easily able to be abused in terms of an eco standpoint, thanks for the suggestion.
