Staff apps

If mic use is a requirement, add it to the list of requirements.
there should be a note below TS and skype that it's required and without it you can't be a staff member (unless an admin likes you cough Hi bigdaddy cough)

 

Why in the world would we deny someone because of a 3 minute download and install? We require skype, he got skype.

Regardless, there's no reason why if an applicant is completely qualified the staff can't just have them get skype. I'd like you to find me (both to prove a point and to see if you'll do unnecessary work) a denied application that was absolutely 100% qualified for the job but did not have skype or teamspeak

The staff is flexible, why you gotta be so salty, they can just download it like deinen said if they're actually going to be considered

 

You know there is a TS interview so what would make you think that is is NOT required in the first place?

honestly, i think the requirement of having TS/Skype/Mic is stupid to even have in the staff app SPECIALLY SINCE THE STAFF ARE NEVER ON TS OR USE THE SKYPE TO REPLY TO MEEP MEMBERS! if they staff want to talk to themeselfs all day long "great" don't bother interacting with the "community" you are suspose to be supporting!

He is on TS using his mic all the time! I don't see the problem?

 

Well I guess I'm the weird one that did.

 

Don't get me wrong, there "were" several staff that were online all the time, but not so much anymore and if they are on TS they are always muted, afk, or hiding in the staff rooms and don't respond to pokes or whatever. I mean I guess my "biggest" gripe over that specific issus is that ANY STAFF with REAL POWER are NEVER on it! ie fuzzlr, onis, cooleysworld, sjoeppappentrap, slicks, deinen0, Reggles44, and Quaddy! Okay quaddy is only some but always seems to be afk/muted/whatever and SMODS have some power but still really can't so anything worth wile at all!

 

You're right, I'm not on Teamspeak, I prefer text communication over verbal. I am always available on skype, my skype is the same name as IGN, Deinen0. We've never mandated one must be on TS frequently mingling with the players, it's a bonus. We do mandate it for staff business because frankly it's much easier to discuss things that need to be discussed.

 

Yeah, I understand and know this is no "mandate" just saying it would be "nice" if more "staff "(and players in general) used ts overall.

Is there any way at all to change the TS requirement? IMO it's a bit pointless; we could do an IM interview or submit interviews by email...

Also as Hornemans said, many staff don't ever really talk on TS.

Yes i was just stating facts, however i "do" fell that TS should be a mandated "staff" rule 100% of the time not just for "staff meetings" (which BTW it is mandated for only).

Yes, indeed. The reason is Skype is used for messaging, whereas TS is for voice chat. We don't need you to use voice chat on Skype, ever. Only TS.

 

Is text chat allowed on TS instead as well?

Some people play at odd hours with room-mates, girlfriends and parents. I dont think cases like that would permit the use of a microphone.

 

Interviews are done vocally.

 

So it's just the interview then.

After that I assume most people just use skype for everything.
