Should Fireworks be Legal?

True, but harming animals should be taken into consideration when humans are doing something that's just for fun. That being said, I don't think that scaring a few animals with fireworks means that fireworks should be stopped or anything.

11:30 P.M. is a bit early to get annoyed with people still doing fireworks.

But then the families are at fault for blocking the street, not for using fireworks.

 

I can see why fireworks would be restricted in dry areas where there's a lot of dry brush or whatever on the ground--it'd be a massive fire hazard.

Not really.

11:30 feels like a relatively early time to complain about noise, but my staying-up-late biases aside, I definitely agree that fireworks generally shouldn't be launched that late; however, the Fourth of July is a single night of the year, so I think that an exception can be made and people can manage to put up with fireworks going late during that one night.

These aren't exploding barrels. They're not an extreme danger, and yes, maybe it's not always the handlers fault but it is a great deal of the time. If it's the companies then report it, do whatever, but look closer at the packaging and it has warnings and if people read those and paid attention they wouldn't get hurt so often. Like those kids lighting up 100+ sparklers at once.. it made a frickin bomb :| no warning on the box but come on..

In all honesty I would have too, swear I would've hopped right on the idea with my friends if I was one of their friends and I feel bad for them, but it wasn't the brightest idea.. It could have been avoided and wasn't like it was the sparklers fault or companies, because they weren't doing something normal with them.

I think they should be banned when in dry conditions, here in Nova Scotia, they have fire bans depending on the weather conditions. Why not expand that rule for fireworks?

PS: Has anyone tried to use a firework rocket as a weapon? Just curious. :/

I got a great ideea: stand over a box of 50 fireworks thats lit!! you'll be so lit too!!

 

At my school they do fireworks every year on le Canada day. It tipped over twice! One time it hit the school and left a blast mark on it (like 7 or 8) the other time it went straight towards everyone (we were luckily sitting on a hill so nobody got hit)

Let's remove fireworks from meep for absolutely no reason!

No fireworks should be banned, but they should be restricted based on the recent precipitation of the area. Just to prevent fires, that's it.

 

The Hwacha was a Korean rocket artillery weapon which had hundreds of arrows tied to black powder charges which would send them flying down range with a chance to explode on impact. It was used against the Japanese quite efficiently and it is also one of the first multi barreled rocket artillery weapons ever invented.

Personally I believe fireworks should be legal because it never hurts to have a fallback plan when the government starts taking guns...

Any time past watershed seems like a fair cut-off, though I would be in favour of banning them period. At least it's a clear line on when we start recognizing that people start going to bed, and if you're going to prioritize any demographic? Kids should arguably be one of them.

We're talking literally hundreds of animals per firework show, and that's so long as you live in a suburban area. Birds, cats, dogs, etc.

I believe we should ban fireworks because of the noise pollution they cause, not due to any potential safety hazards. Thoughts?

Both, ideally. Though I have less of a problem with fire crackers, just because it's not absolutely necessary for them to be used outside.
