judging by your sig, you're talking 2b. 2b's sever file is 2 terabytes (which is why it can't be converted to a P.E./Xbox edition, it's too big and broken)

 

So the average player who wants to download one of these worlds wouldn't have enough computer memory and those that do would have to have their computer download the world for an hour or two. Nice.

 

I didn't know the specific numbers, just that @FamousZAmos said that the Beta world's size was 2 terabytes.

No, I said 2b's is 2 terabytes. Meeps are like 3 or 4 gigabytes because limited world size
(to put things in perspective, Meep towny is 10k by -10k, and 2b's world is 30 million by -30 million.)
Took like ~20 minutes to download gamma for me, should'nt take you long

 

if you explore the entire thing to 30 mil all directions, make the maximum amount of maps, and hundreds of thousands of written books, yes

 

I heard a calculation that the entire Minecraft world in whole is 5 pentabytes, but I haven't fact checked it.
