I would go back to where it was but its not that important. Maybe it was because it went against what you were saying? Anyway, Snopes is so Liberal its unreal, they are 98% biased (imo) leaning towards Democrats and they release more "Fake News" articles then probably any other "Fact checking" news source out there. Ill let it rest though.

The Daily Mail Snopes Story And Fact Checking The Fact Checkers

This should be good enough, anyway. This isn't really a topic on what source is best. I was just pointing out your use of Snopes. Anything else you would like to talk about, via Trump?
    --- Double Post Merged, May 5, 2017 ---
Its too early to be talking about what the Senate thinks. We will see soon. Until then, I have no comments on the matter.

Segregation was ended in the Supreme Court case of Brown v Board of Education. Except it took over a decade for it to actually be implemented because many republicans refused to obey the court precedent. The republicans were then forced to desegregate school when the federal government established forced busing and congress stated that segregated schools would no longer receive money. So, technically republicans didn't end segregation, but prolonged it.

No, you're incorrect. After the verdict was reached, Democrat politicians created a massive uprising to try and reverse the decision. This was spearheaded by Harry Byrd, a Democrat senator from Virginia, Orval Faunus, the Democrat governor of Arkansas, who famously deployed the national guard to try to stop black students from entering previously white schools, Ben Sheppard, the Texas attorney general (also Democrat) who sued schools that desegregated, and George Wallace, the democrat governor of Alabama who was a terrible person in many ways.

Also forced busing did nothing to end segregation. It made both whites AND blacks mad (4% of whites and 9% of blacks approved), and in most cases didn't even change the racial breakdowns of schools. Plus, it made people sit on buses for hours and hours, which was a huge inconvenience--especially for people who stayed after school for athletics. Finally, it was a huge reason why affluent white people left the inner city for the suburbs, leading to urban blight and further deterioration of inner-city school systems.

Right, but the same racist element that was in the democratic party, they left for the Republicans during Reagan.

Sure, but I'm just pointing out the error in the history.

Also I would argue that the shift really began happening under Nixon, but that's probably just me being pedantic.

Yeah, my point was that neither "Republicans" or "Democrats" were really a racist party, but some people are just racist.

Meh, the opposition to Brown v. Board was almost entirely Democrat, as was the support for the Confederacy, the opposition to Reconstrction policies in the South, and the support for seperate but equal.

Right, because the sect of southern racists that are now in the Republican party, were in the democratic party in that era.

The Republicans were also the progressive party at the time. Now the Democrats are the progressive party.

I was just pointing out how you can dredge up old history to make your point. What Pmx said is flawed in the same way what I said is flawed.
Also, just to add on, what does "progressive" mean to you?
