Given the sheer number of incidents we're having with people shooting up groups of people it would seem that any erosion of checks isn't a suitable course of action. I would dare say until we decide we want to properly tackle the issue of gun control/mental health that yes, just receiving mental health benefits should disqualify you from owning a firearm.

The issue with that Trump did isn't that he removed something, but like most of his actions, there is no suitable replacement in the works to replace this rule. I would have been fine with clarification of this rule and legislature excluding certain diagnosis that is agreed to not pose any risks. But this is not something that happened.

I would argue at this point something is better than nothing.

You are correct, the right to bear arms is a right. I believe it is time to push a political effort to amend this amendment and begin curbing this right, given from the many examples of people abusing it to the detriment of society. Just like my children and toys, when they fail to treat them properly and use them properly, it's time to take them away.

At this point a Constitutional amendment is the only viable solution to reform gun control, given the absolute lack of action by congress to do anything on the topic, including addressing the mental health issues.

The law needs no replacement because it seems it was redundant. Courts can still deem people mentally unfit and take their rights away.
If the right to bear arms is indeed a right then it exists regardless of the constitution. It is wishful thinking to believe a gun ban of some sort will stop criminals from getting guns, with a relatively cheap milling machine or 3d printer you can print a gun, and if a gun ban were to be implemented the hundreds of millions of guns in the US wouldn't vanish overnight. Additionally your analogy of comparing gun owners to children is facile because you would only take away a child's toy if they misused it; you wouldn't preemptively take away a child's toy away.

Trump: Take guns first, then go to court - CNN Video

President Trump Suggests Executing Drug Dealers

'Trade wars are good,' Trump says, defying global concern over tariffs

Lots of joking this week this.

But in all seriousness, can you point to a single source where it indicates it was a joke? It's astonishing how so many of his jokes seemingly don't sound like jokes at all.

@Deinen, stop just reading captions. As someone who is apparently pro-gun control (you), you’d think you would like the first one. However, that’s not really what he is talking about. (I love when people use CNN, true news right there!).

Anyway, I’ll use a recent example. Nikolas, the parkland shooter, posting the nonsense he posted on social media, basically telling the world the crime he is going to commit. In that instance, Trump thinks, take the gun first, then go through due process. Under Trumps proposal, Nikolas wouldn’t have been able to shoot up a school. It’s a good idea & it’s not unconstitutional like the Obama era gun law that YOU, Deinen, defended.

Yes, executing drug dealers, like El Chapo, what’s the problem?

Trade wars; I’m not an expert on trade nor am I going to act as one. However, I do know Trump came into the Presidency with an America First agenda. I don’t see a problem with a tax on imported & exported goods.

Also, I didn’t say he was joking about everything that he has said this past week. Just the fact of being a lifetime President. Which we all know, as well as Trump, that sadly that isn’t going to happen.

That was just one example. He isn’t talking about the small drug dealers he is talking about the large drug dealers. The ones smuggling them across the border, the ones with huge amounts.

The legal principle of due process (something enshrined in the Constitution) is that you can only take away people's rights when they have been found to violate the law by a court. Out of curiosity can you cite a single expert in constitutional law that thinks Trump's proposal is constitutional and respects due process.
Drug dealers are legitimate business men and women.

@MeepLord27 - Is amazing to me that Obama can do so many unconstitutional things & when Trump says something that needs constitutional fact checking the Democrats are all of a sudden for the constitution. Democrats only favor the constitution when it helps them & their agenda.

Drug dealing isn’t a legal business.

I am not a democrat. Nothing democrats believe or do has any relevance on the points make. The fact that you have to compare your president to the democrats betrays the fact that to anybody not caught up in retarded partisanship Trump is a despicable oaf.,
Legality != Moral. Slavery was legal, the Holocaust was legal, drone strikes that kill citizens are legal, sitting peacefully at home smoking a plant is illegal.
To parrot an argument you put forward on another thread - drugs don't kill people, people kill people.

I never said you were a Democrat. I’m saying, in general. Democrats don’t care about the constitution unless it helps them (then they use it) and then they don’t care when it hurts them or helps the other side.

I don’t see how it’s unconstitutional to take someone’s gun away before due process if there is literal proof that they’re mentally unstable & put people in danger. Prove me wrong.

People do kill people. Drugs are taken by people. The drug doesn’t jump into your mouth, nose, etc when you’re asleep. The person taking the drugs is hurting/killing themselves. HOWEVER, that is besides the point. The point is, most drugs are illegal & drug dealers (not pharmacists, as I had someone tell me they were a pharmacist for people without prescriptions) so selling drugs, is illegal. So it’s an.... illegal business.

Have you ever wondered how you would decide "literal proof that they're mentally unstable" is in fact proof?
Read my previous post carefully and tell me where I said it was legal.
Then your point is a total no sequitur: If you agree democrats have no bearing on me why would you bring them up in response to my criticism of trump?
