Interesting. I'll add links throughout the day
Players
Preet Bharara - Fired by Trump/Sessions after being promised a continuing position under the administration by Trump. In early March, a watchdog group asked Bharara to open an investigation into Trump's international business dealings. He may have also been investigating Trump's cabinet pick for Health and Human Services over potential financial violations. This report has not been verified.
Nikolai Gorokhov - Russian attorney. He's the one who was thrown from a roof or fell while helping winch a tub (maybe a jacuzzi) up to the roof, but no one else was hurt. He's been representing the family of anti-Putin lawyer Sergei Magnitsky. He's also a witness in a separate money laundering case in NYC that Bharara was investigating, the one the primary article from OP is about.
Sergei Magnitsky - This source seems questionable overall, but gives this summary of how he got involved. "The generally accepted narrative of the Magnitsky affair is that lawyer Sergei Magnitsky was employed by the American-born owner of Hermitage Capital Management, William Browder, in an effort to investigate the theft of assets from his companies by the Russian police. Magnitsky then courageously exposed these actions, was arrested and died in pretrial detention in a Russian prison after being tortured, beaten and denied medical care. It is this story of heroism that Nekrasov set out to tell, leaning heavily on Browder for the details of the case." There is more of a timeline that backs up that summary here. It's believed he was ultimately tortured to death in a Russian prison. The US Congress passed the Magnitsky Act in 2012 and it was signed into law by President Obama. This resulted in a number of Russian officials being banned from entering the US. Russia responded by stopping adoption of Russian children by US families and with a list of other people who were banned from entering Russia. Preet Bharara was among those banned from entering Russia. But why???
Viktor Bout - Russian arms trader. Convicted in 2011 on four counts of conspiracy to sell antiaircraft weapons and other arms to purported Colombian rebels to kill Americans. "The jury convicted Bout of all four charges, including conspiracy to kill Americans, conspiracy to kill U.S. government officers and employees, conspiracy to acquire and use antiaircraft missiles, and conspiracy to provide material support or resources to a designated foreign terrorist organization." The case was prosecuted by US. attorney for the South District of New York, Preet Bharara. This case is unrelated, as far as I can tell, to the rest of the story, but it provides a bit more information about why Bharara was on Russia's list. This is just context.
USA v. Prevezon - This is the money laundering case that Gorokhov was scheduled to testify in this week. This case begins with Sergei Magnitsky and his investigation with Bowder. This article dives deep into both investigations, so I don't want to get too far into it here. So now we see that Bharara and Magnitsky are linked back to the same original crimes in Russia. When Bharara opened the money laundering case, it connected an investigation from eight years before in Russia and pulled Gorokhov in to represent Magnitsky's family in his wrongful death case against Russia.
US Justice Department -- Here's their summary of the money laundering case and its history.
Russian mob - The Russian mob operated the money laundering scheme. Trump has a well-documented history of connections to the Russian mob in NYC, including them living in Trump Tower, the same one the Secret Service now guards. I cannot make any connection at this time between the mob in this case and Trump. Again, this is just proving bigger context.
Denis Katsyv - This is the man at the center of the Prevezon case. He is a client of the same firm behind part/all of the dossier, or at least the more salacious portions that have less credibility. This article gets into more information about Katsyv and Prevezon.
Further links become a bit muddier and certainly hard to show evidence beyond loosely circumstantial. The Russian arms dealer, Viktor Bout, hired former US AG John Ashcroft's firm to defend him for his appeal. Ashcroft was on the board of Constellis Holdings LLC, which purchased/acquired Blackwater, which was founded by the brother of Betsy DeVos, the new Secretary of Education, hand-picked by Trump.
Also just to state, these are the higher level Russian officials who have mysteriously died recently
1) Russian Diplomat; Sergei Krivov. On Election Day- found dead on the roof of the Russian embassy- First responders reported "head bashed in." Later reported as a heart attack. Nov 8/2016
2) Russia's ambassador to Turkey; Andrew Karlov- shot Dec 16/2016
3) Russian Diplomat; Petr Polshikov- shot dead Dec 20/2016
4) NATO auditor general; Yves Chandelon (Belgian) Involved in counter action against terrorism financing, shot himself? Very suspicious circumstances. Owns his own guns. Shot with a different gun.Shot Dec 27/2016
5) Former KGB officer; Olev Erovikin. Dead in the back of his car- Jan 2/2017 (Involved in leak to British MI 6 agent, Christopher Steele about Trump and Russia connections.) Jan 2/2017
6) Russia's ambassador to Greece; Andrew Malanin- found dead Jan 9/ 2017- Police investigating.
7) Russian Ambassador to India- Alexander Kadakin; Died of a heart attack Jan 26/2017
8) Possible US Intelligence asset and top Russian Cyber crimes agent; Sergei Mikhailov. He was dragged out of a Russian meeting with a black bag over his head- Jan 25/2017
9) Vitally Churkin- Russia's ambassador to NATO - found dead Feb 20/2017

For a refresher: Paul Manafort was the Trump campaign manager during the campaign, and while Manafort was campaign manager, Trump pressured the GOP to drop all anti-Russian rhetoric on the party platform.
Trump campaign guts GOP’s anti-Russia stance on Ukraine
AP Exclusive: Manafort had plan to benefit Putin government
"Paul Manafort, secretly worked for a Russian billionaire to advance the interests of Russian President Vladimir Putin...
Manafort proposed in a confidential strategy plan as early as June 2005 that he would influence politics, business dealings and news coverage inside the United States, Europe and the former Soviet republics to benefit the Putin government, even as U.S.-Russia relations under Republican President George W. Bush grew worse. Manafort pitched the plans to Russian aluminum magnate Oleg Deripaska, a close Putin ally with whom Manafort eventually signed a $10 million annual contract beginning in 2006, according to interviews with several people familiar with payments to Manafort and business records obtained by the AP."
So we now have Trump's campaign manager acting as literally an illegal unregistered foreign agent of the Russian government who was actively trying to influence not only U.S, but Europe and former soviet republics, to influence policy to be more pro-Russian.

You do understand freedom of speech does not mean free of consequences, correct? It simply means the government can't punish you for saying that. You can be fired from a job, you can be ridiculed in public, someone could even be offended and hit you and it still would not infringe on your free speech.
It's saddening that you label liberals as idiots, as opposed to having an ideology that you disagree with. I don't think conservatives are idiots, I think you're an idiot. I disagree with Klutchdecals vehemently on ideology, but he's a great damn guy and I'm happy to say a close friend and I don't see that changing. Why would I label him something he's not, which is what you're doing. Compared to the liberals you've been arguing in this thread, it seems they contain superior intelligence to you, based on how the form arguments, provide sources and counter points which you haven't done.
If Trump came into office and genuinely tried to do his best and genuinely tried to put this nation first, I'd give him a shot. He hasn't done this, he's put forth budgets that would decimate our domestic policy and insurance that accentuates all the horrible things with Obamacare and almost literally removes all the mechanisms that worked well. He continuously makes baseless accusations and statements on social media, absorbs and mimics a concerning about of Fox news and Breitbart. He undermines elected judges who disagree with him, insults elected representatives who counter his points and has disdain for anyone who actually calls him out. He's a petulant child. What is worse is we have roughly 30% of our population that buys into his propaganda like it's a cult and literally when presented with facts and reality, 9 times out of 10 they reply with "Obama....!" or "Clinton....!" or "MAGA" or "GET USED TO IT WE WON"
Do I have any fear anything Trump does will has a lasting effect? Outside of our standing in the world, not really, as 8 years (maximum) isn't enough time to sway a liberalizing population anyway. Speaking of liberals, there are more of them than there is of your side except now they also have the motivation to recognize an issue with a person losing the popular vote and winning the electoral college and they can easily move to begin changing that system to be more proportionally representative.
This is how it actually works in contract type work, and when a ton of people accuse you of doing the same thing, it seems likely you're guilty of something, right? If 20 people tell the police you just broke into this gas station, it's pretty likely you actually did do it.
Florida U.S. reps: Pay Palm Beach County for Trump security costs
--
WEST PALM BEACH —
Palm Beach County’s congressional delegation is unanimous in its support of the county’s effort to be reimbursed for expenses incurred providing security to President-elect Donald Trump.
The congressional delegation from Palm Beach County are all in agreement that the county should be reimbursed for the expenses it has paid to provide security to President Trump
The delegation has written a letter to the U.S. departments of Homeland Security and Justice asking for reimbursement money for the county.
This same delegation, the one from Palm Beach County, wrote a letter to Homeland Security and Justice Department asking for them to reimburse them.
Congress has set aside $7 million to reimburse local governments for Trump-related security expenses, but that pot of money is too small to accommodate requests from the county and from New York City, where the president-elect has held a series of transition meetings.
Congress voted to allot $7,000,000 dollars to a fund to reimburse local governments for Trump related security expenses. But that isn't enough money to reimburse the people who don't want to foot the bill, ya see?
On Dec. 5, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio wrote congressional leaders to ask for reimbursement for providing security at Trump Tower, where the president-elect and his family have residences. The New York Times reported that the mayor is seeking $35 million.
The New York City Mayor, Bill de Blasio, wrote congress to ask for a reimbursement (paid back) for providing security at Trump Tower, they have already spent $35,000,000 - Which is $28,000,000 more than $7,000,000
Fifteen days after de Blasio asked congressional leaders for reimbursement, Palm Beach County wrote to its delegation asking for help as it pursues reimbursement for providing security to Trump during trips to his Mar-A-Lago mansion on Palm Beach.
Fifteen days later the delegation from Palm Beach County wrote it's letter asking for reimbursement.

We asked for any kind of evidence showing that those 7 countries were a threat to our nation - None was provided.
We asked why not other countries that we do have evidence of being a threat (Saudi Arabia / Pakistan) were not included in this ban - No answer was ever given
There is a massive difference in comparing Trump to Hitler, a man who actively tried to wipe a race off the planet, and pointing out actions that are similar. Why would a list like this concern me? Historically these things are done before people enter pretty dark times socially because once you identify an enemy to lay your problems on there is a rather short time before people begin lashing out at this enemy, especially when they are taught that things are really more difficult than they really are.
How is this solicitation of reaction going to help America? How is blaming our perceived lack of jobs, despite having one of the best economies in the entire history of the planet, on illegals going to help? The issue isn't with freezing immigration from other countries deemed to be a threat. The issue is those 7 countries have never supplied people to commit terrorism within our country, to the point where Trump, even if he wanted, hasn't been able to prove ANY of his claims to the many judges who are currently asking him for it. He cannot prove those 7 countries are actually a threat, and that lack of any evidence whatsoever, not only runs parallel to anything he's said or done, but it's the reason why the Executive Order was deemed unlawful. Because there has been a whole group talking about it as a "ban" or "muslim ban", and nobody to offer actual evidence those countries are a threat.
What about the other countries in the Middle East, who have had people from their country commit terrorism within our country? A great majority of the 9/11 terrorists came from Saudi Arabia, a country who subsidizes a sect of Islam well known for it's extreme interpretations.
Additionally, those temporary blocks temporarily blocked over 60,000 legal American Residents from entering the country, from going home to their family and friends. It temporarily blocked countless businesses and corporations from doing business as usual, overall that action has put us at more risk in terms of global standing and giving terrorists the very opportunity to recruit off the back of this mistake.
The majority of illegal immigrants just come here and work, trying to provide for their families and while I 100% agree we need a robust immigration system adequate vetting and supervision taking an anti-immigration route, for our country, is not a policy that will suceed as it runs counter to everything that made this country great in the first place.
On top of this, humans have been migrating across the world for TWO MILLION YEARS - What makes us think we can stop this human behavior when 2,000,000 years of history haven't been able to do so?
On far as people with others believe - Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs and opinions, however what gives their thoughts any value is if they can back them up. I was never hammering on Blue because of what he believed, but the fact he hasn't been able to present any substances on why he thinks this way. Holding a set of beliefs without even being able to articulate why you believe this way and in what basis this belief is from is not acceptable, in fact it's a danger to our society and humanity in general.
Trump isn't Hitler, in any way, shape or form, however, I highly suggest reading on how Hitler rose to power, because it mirrors Trump's campaign in a lot of ways, a tactic often used in history. It begins as labeling our country the worse it's ever been, a violent, dangerous place that is poor and suffering.
Why is it this way?
Then he leads into statements that denounce other groups of people and begin laying blame on them for the shape of things in our country, all the while promising that only he, and he alone can save us all and make us great again. When people or press criticize his actions he goes on a tirade blasting them, their intentions and their qualifications.kwagscraft, Deljikho, Natsu and 1 other person like this. -
Right, but stopping illegals from crossing our southern border is not the same thing as not knowing who is coming in from the 7 countries in the EO. Visa process takes years and years to complete, we know who we're giving visas to. Additionally, refugees also go through a rigorous vetting process which takes at minimum 18 months to complete. I have no problems freezing immigration from certain countries, but that is not what this EO did - It prevented tens of thousands of LEGAL United States residents from coming home, disrupting their lives, not to mention the hit businesses suffered from such a disruption.
In regards to illegal immigration from our southern border, no wall or presence will completely stop it. Why not look to the logical solutions like punishing businesses who hire illegal immigrants, allowing a more orderly and accesseble route to obtain residency in our country or stopping our war on drugs, which give unprecedented power and sway to the illegal drug cartels plaguing Mexico and South America.
Your assertion on "If an American went to Iraq and Syria" is not inherently true, and when true has quite a few special circumstances attached to it; namely we've invaded Iraq and disrupted their entire way of life and we're actively trying to destabilize a government in Syria, no doubt we've made some enemies - Of course there is risk of American citizens traveling to nations we've invaded recently or are using partisans to take down a government.
Stop generalizing the other side, this "Ya'll liberals" dog whistle is just the same as saying Republicans are racist idiots - It's not inherently true, as each camp has sweeping ideologies encompassed within it. I'm fairly liberal and I couldn't care if everyone in the Middle East killed everyone else in the Middle East - It has no affect on me. What does affect me is the fear-mongering it leads to here, and the restrictions of my rights as a citizen and the ramping up to a further police state. I wholly agree with America First - Except Trump has no notion of putting our people first. Doing things as giving everyone access to higher education is putting America First, because it makes us technologically stronger and helps us further complete in the global economy. Giving the people access to reasonable and affordable health care makes us as a society stronger and saves costs down the road. Spending money on infrastructure to put people to work and make business more friendly is another way we can put America First.
I would be all for entitlement reform, requiring beneficiaries to work for their benefits similar to community service, but the entitlements you're talking about simply isn't long-term, section 8 housing takes years and years to get into, food stamps are meant to keep you fed and not much more. As far as veterans being homeless, I'm not sure why we couldn't just house them immediately, the federal government surely has the funds to do that - Or, not pointlessly invade two countries which ends up afflicting thousands upon thousands of soldiers with mental illness.
I think putting America First also includes American values, which this country was founded on. We're all equal, and we're all immigrants coming to a new land to find success, and the minute we ditch those values, we ditch the strength which propelled us to dominate the world. We're no longer America, we're just another country in the world.kwagscraft, CluelessKlutz, Erebus45 and 1 other person like this. -
Additionally, you cannot compare the migration via land route to Europe, compared to crossing oceans to get to America, we're simply never going to have to deal with the amount of people Europe has to.
But overall, as sad as it is, a couple deaths a year to terrorism isn't enough to make me sacrifice any amount of freedom - Nor is it enough to make me approve of measures that are inherently anti-American.Cherrykit, Ranger0203, Nager2015 and 1 other person like this. -
