Ok I admit to having 500K stashed away SOMEWHERE, but that is irrelevant.. Also it's large but unprofitable, the only reason I have stayed at this level is because I have tapped into it, I can't keep up with the demand otherwise.

A silver lining to his whole situation started by the EULA is that towns will fall and experienced recruiters will be floating around. Bigger towns may accumulate more staff thus we may see a trend similar to zipf's law start in meepcraft. At least till they fix it. I'm starting to see it emerge already.

I think that the top 30% of meepcraft earners should pay a 90% tax on any money they earn, and that it should be distributed to the bottom 40%.

Very socialistic theory, to be precise.
Some towns will fall, yes, but others will become stronger. Also, if it is unprofitable, why is this observed?
Also, regarding Dax, I would like to point that 25 million was sent to Dreamcraft when @Jwarian purchased it, and gave it back.

I get enjoyment out of the community and designing of a town as well. But I'm also playing on an economy server for a reason. That being to play with fake money.

You can enjoy the town for being a social and architectural hub while at the same time being in the black by having a symbiotic relationship between the town and the residents.
But I did like the idea someone threw out for having farms available to help residents make money.

    Well good for you.
For being able to afford 50k/day in upkeep...

I was always a fan of percentage based tax, however it was always very small.

%tax cuts down on upkeep a lot, it's about 25K/day vs 13K, I can vote. for 100% chance of 8K and 5K is relatively easy to make.

You need to be generating at least 65 meebles for every plot you have to keep your town from losing money, The cheapest healthy towns have taxes at 70 for plottax, zero for resident tax. If they make there plots to order, and have 10 residents all with the starting balance of 5.5k, +1 plot for the town spawn, you are losing 15 meebles a day, this is with 70 plottax however, Most of the succesful towns that are cheap have an 8-85 plottax, Now if you have 85 plottax, 85x10=850, your daily upkeep is 715 you are making 140 ish meebles a day. Now if nobody in this town ever does anything again (none of the residents not the mayor) this will last about 64 days, you will make about 8640 profit, which further lets the town stay alive another 12 days after all the residents leave, + the 50k in the town bank they start with means you survive about 81 days after you make no money, so 64+81 = 145 days of your town being alive, this is hypothetical if none of your town people get any money other than the starting stuff. 145 days is like 1/5 of the year?

The thing with a percent tax is that, if you just have 10 people with 5.5k, you have to make your percent tax 0.84 to make 65 meebles from them, i think? (im really really tired its like, 2 or something i need to sleep). which is fine, but after the first day they have less than that, so you would either have to change taxes, or kick the residents and give there plots to more new people. basically a pure percent tax town would probably die, unless you had some rich people in it to support the tax, the thing is, as a rich person (5-8mil depending on how you count assets) we HATE losing money, and are looking to do things the cheapest way we can, so chances are we aren't going to live in a high percentage tax town, we are going to go the the towns that are 70-85 meebles per plot, and get ourselves a private outpost mansion or something.

What does work though, and this is something i learned watching several very succesful towns grow from measly 40 person metropolises to the behemoths that they are now (mooville and Wildwildwest, a town that hit 134 players but then got sold and died) you can run a 80 meeble plot tax, and a 0.01% resident tax, This 0.01 percent looks negligible to rich people and poor people, but is actually quite useful, especially after residents become inactive and lose there plots, they still contribute a few meebles a day from the percentage tax.

Tell me if any of this makes sense im really tired and stuff.
