The strategy and skill of keeping your mouse on another player? I'm not saying there is absolutely no skill in the current PvP, but this new combat adds an entirely new level. You have to use shields carefully, blocking when you need too, predicting your opponents attacks. Instead of just charging towards them with your sword swinging, you have to carefully hit only when you need to. Fights will be slower paced, but will require more skill.

The new combat will in no way make it possible for someone of a lower PvP skill able to defeat a better player. That is completely false in every way.

 

Did this update inprove pvp so it isn't all ping-based?

 

I think rather than support this crappy new style of PvP, you should probably re-think your strategy..

 

Sadly no. I have friends in New Zealand who said the new Pvp made it worse

Oh cute thing, I learned how to combo effectively with 1.9.

 

Solution: Learn how to use bows in close combat so you can alternate between swords and bows.

 

Ninety percent of people just press w and click again and again. Now that isn't a good strategy. I don't understand why this new PVP is terrible.
I think the reason is that a lot of people have gotten good at the current PVP, and don't wish for it to change.

No the old pvp, and I personally think the new pvp is better.
I was just looking at ti form a different perspective.

1.9, hopefully gets rid of spam clicking, which is good.

It makes actually have to use strategy. Hopefully.

Arrows aren't the bane of my existence anymore, thanks to shields. Hopefully.

I think god fights will take WAAAAY to long. Everyone will have inventory of splash pots (healing / regen) and gapples, because the hits will be 1 in every few seconds. What I'm trying to say is that you can pretty much eat a gapple without worrying about getting combo'd since you can't spam hit them while they're eating.

I am not a fan of this, hopefully they'll add an enchant or something that will make you spam hit again (lower time to 0)

I would be happy if they made it so that the heavier your armor and inventory is, the slower you walk or sprint.

Give it a chance guys. Seriously though it's not like it's the end of the world. All in all this will make everything more balanced during PvP but if you don't want to play the next update literally nobody is stopping you.

 

This is coming from someone who is obviously not a PvPer and if you are, you aren't very good. Arrows were never an issue to anyone who has a decent strafe. Sorry to be blunt. You are happy that 1.9 will completely change PvP and remove the parts that took skill. What you call "spam clicking" is actually called Jitter Clicking and you want it removed because you cannot do it or haven't taken the time to do it. PvP isn't something that you are supposed to just be able to jump right into and automatically be good at, with 1.9, that is what it will be.

Please explain to me how 1.9 will have more strategy and take more skill?

All this is is decreasing attack speed... it is adding a higher skill cap to pvp, not I have better fps and ping so i can land more hits and jump around more.

 

you can still blockhit, it just requires more skill.
