Im gunna break this down Muunkee style.

Making money in this economy is a chore
. It's not FUN. The point of a Minecraft server is to have FUN and the point of an economy server is to become rich (i.e. make lots of money), and it's incredibly BORING trying to become rich when the only legitimate way to do so is to do hours upon hours of mundane, repetitive work. This is why we are currently seeing so many ban appeals of players who've resorted to all sorts of illegal activities in order to get the same rush they used to get out of being rich.
This is a hard thing to argue because yes, The point is fun, but this isnt any Minecraft server. Its an eco server where the point is to become rich, however whats rich? Rich as in everyone has everything and god gear costs 100,000 instead of 20,000? What defines rich? Ninjaroxy, Epixaid, and a few others seem to have no problem getting rich. It seems to be a lazy problem where you want to do 1 thing while afk for the majority of the server.

As a more experienced player (joined Nov 2012), I find it incredibly underwhelming earning a fraction of what I used to while working infinitely harder. I have to place blocks for an hour straight to earn 10-15k, and I'm a level 54 builder. Think about that for a second, the highest ranked builder on the server having to slave away for an hour to earn what he used to be able to in a few minutes. It's not fun and if I were new I certainly wouldn't hang around for long.

Its incredibly offsetting when you tell me you make a fraction of what you used to when everything is buffed lol. Just because back in the day we had 1,000,000 events, doesnt mean we need to kill the eco like it was in alpha. Youre comparing 3 years of an eco growth to 2 months and youre mad about it. Yes, you now only earn 10-15k but whats a god pick cost. 10-15k. So you want to earn a god pick+ per hour? 1,000,000 is now worth 150,000. Same value, less numbers. I dont really understand your side when you make this part of your argument.

And it's not just experienced players who find this new economy off-putting; put yourself in the shoes of a brand new player. They come to this server, have no clue how to talk in shout to ask for assistance or simply introduce themselves, they have no sense of direction and don't know how to get to towns, they see the quest masters and just go 'wtf is they' and walk off, they realise that making money is boring and simply log off, never to be seen again. No wonder our player count is declining. We need a short, sharp tutorial.
    Make a tutorial script then.

Now enough of my (hopefully) refined ranting, time for some proposals.
-Bring back paid minigames, you know, things that are actually fun to do. *By minigames, I'm referring to simple, easy to learn, games which don't require a huge number of players (which, let's face it, we don't have) and are popular among the community. Infected in particular <3 <3
They are coming back. we have 1 part time tech and t3k and I grind additions every day. They are coming back as are events and other small games like the soccer we added.
-Buff jobs: Yes Klutch, you've buffed jobs a thousand and one times. But many older players will gain no satisfaction from earning a meagre 2.5 meebles for cutting a log or 1.3 for placing a block. I remember when I got paid 12 meebles for chopping a log and 4 for placing a block, those days appear to be long gone. I'm no economist, but if jobs are buffed then shouldn't inflation allow the value of the meeble to remain relative anyway?
Ive buffed jobs time and time again. As mentioned before, Im not buffing at any extreme. I will continue to move values until theyre good and happy. Its been about 3 weeks since the eco actually balanced and the dupe bugs have all been fixed. Stop being impatient, or dont play on a recently opened server and come back in a year.
-More donor shop options: We have nothing to spend our earnings on. Yesterday, Vkl earned 325k from dicing. I asked him what we were going to do with it, he responded with something along the lines of "idk, let it rot in the town bank". Ten minutes later he decided just to dice it away because there was nothing fun to spend it on. Bring back grappling hooks, bring back tnt, bring back glass picks, bring back fun.
The hook plugin doesnt work with 1.11 and it goes back to the tech issue. We have 100 more things to worry about at the moment but we will certainly be adding new features and items to spend money on. This is a given.
-Add a tutorial: We need a short, sharp tutorial that will teach players how to teleport to towns, earn money, join a town and talk in shout. Keep it literally that simple. We don't need signs telling players how to /plot set perm ally itemuse on, we don't need signs advertising our empty and too often broken minigames, and for the love of Jay-Zus Christ we don't need a plethora of signs attempting to indoctrinate a moral code into players.
    Make a script.
    TL;DR:
This is a Minecraft server, making money should be fun. We shouldn't be confined to hours of mundane work to earn what feels like a fraction of what we used to, and then find out that the only thing we have to spend it on is paying upkeep and dicing.
I added mcmmo, a new jobs plugin with ranks, and actually pay for 6 times the amount of things you do. What is "Fun money?" I can make a spot in spawn that you just stand and earn 1,000,000 meebles fireworks will go off constantly. Will that help?

Spend time making money = have the best things on the server.
This isnt a server where you sign in and have everything. Otherwise it would be like alpha where the ONLY COLLECTIBLE ITEM is heads.

You're doing a great job klutch, yes its hard to grind meebles sometimes. But hey who wants an easy game. You and xT3k work so hard and I see it. Not many others do, but its very appreciated :)

I just want to add: As someone that once reached Top 10 in /baltop in the last eco. I never once had a problem with boredom or having nothing to do. I was able to do anything imaginable without having a second thought. Its a completely new aspect of gameplay when you're incredibly wealthy.

I do agree the system seems fair though :)

    +1?

Everybody wants to be rich, right? 50k is average now, everyone can make that with a little bit of work. What's "rich" to you, a million meebles? Lets go with that. How do you want to make a million meebles? Time and effort, marketing things to people? Or a /jobs buff? Nobody wants to put that much effort into making money (as evidenced by this and other threads like this), so lets go with the /jobs buff.

Congrats, thanks to the new /jobs buff you can make a million meebles with ease. Now you're rich, correct? No, everyone has a million meebles now because the /jobs buff made it so easy to make money. Now you're average, just like everyone else. And to boot, everything is either much more expensive due to the massive amount of money in the economy, or nobody sells anything because everyone has what they need.

The only thing that is even remotely needed is more ways of moving money from player to player. It's been forever since I've seen a chestshop that buys and sells VS. only selling, and /shop is hardly used from what I can see. I still see people buying/selling services and time, however, which is good to see. Town prices are fine, /jobs pays well enough, and with /vote back, I imagine we'll be seeing more people joining to help stir the eco up some more.

The point is that Klutch and Staff in general have this under control, and we need to trust them or at the very least make suggestions that don't insult the way that things are right now. This is a different time, a different economy, a largely different playerbase than times of old. You can't easily compare the two and you shouldn't expect the same trends, prices, ideas that existed before this economy.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate everything you and a portion of the staff team do for this server, Klutch. I'm only writing a thread like this because I feel obligated to point out where I feel this server is falling, and I completely understand that many people won't share similar opinions, I just ask you to respect them.

P:S. I'm going to write my response in red because that's polite, respectful and has no psychological links whatsoever to emotions such as anger, hate or annoyance.

Rich as in I can earn an amount of meebles which is significant enough to my brain to trigger even the smallest release of endorphins, allowing me to feel happy, satisfied or even addicted.Ninja sells ranks, your average player can't afford to spend $2000+ buying ranks for players. Epix exploited the fact that the end was infinite, and just sold elytras to his heart's content. Your last sentence I can't rebut, because it doesn't make sense.

My subconscious doesn't understand that 2.5 meebles is the same (in relativity) to 12 meebles. My body and its reward system will always process earning that as earning 4x less, because I've already trained it into expecting 4x more.
Yes the meeble is worth substantially more than it used to be, but I don't see town prices, for example, being adjusted to suit. It still costs 150k to make a town, which means now it takes 6x more effort (since the meeble is now worth 6x more) in order to create a town.

Saying that is just pointless; you know full well that I, along with another 7.3 billion people have no clue how to do that. I'm sorry I'm not a tech genius and I don't speak fluent python hiss hiss hiss.

    Good to hear.

As for jobs, I say fair enough, you know what you're doing.
As for the last bit, I'm outta here. I know from experience that it takes forever and a half for things to change on this server. Last time I was banned I was out for seven months, when I came back, the only thing different was a smaller playerbase, rumours that jobs were returning and a half-hearted and ultimately ill fated attempt at a reset, gamma.

Again, good to hear. I sure hope it's sooner rather than later.

    No, as above.

Nope, and neither will asking that question.

Not everyone has 10 hours a day to spend grinding meebles and even if you did, would you be willing to sit there for 10 hours grinding said meebles?
You're right, this isn't a server where you sign in and have everything. This is a server where you sign in and have nothing.

I ask that you respect the staff team and what they have done. They could have reset the server and still have people waiting in order to "make the perfect server" but none of us would be playing right now. Although I do feel there could be some changes with finding ways to make more money, spend your money on and more perks (and Klutch Putting the rich people that sell ranks is unfair because if the other 85% of the server could afford to buy their own rank and or wanted to spend irl on a server then they would be out of business) and I have a good feeling it will come in the near future. I feel we should be more concerned at that fact NO ONE DOES EVENTS ANYMORE!!

Being rich isn't the problem, it's that the meebles is deflating. It has been ever since sell was removed from shop.

I think that most people are just having a hard time adjusting to making less money. Most things cost much less than what they did in alphabeta, and theyre actually very much in line with how the new jobs system works. I think that with a little time, the value of most items will hit the point where they cost about the same as the did in the past, relative to the new terms of making money.

Read the very first bit of my post. You know; the bold, black and blatant bit.

It's not your sentiment I'm concerned about and my apologies for the way I worded my previous post, it definitely sounded like I was. It's that over the course of the four and a half years I've been on this server, everything just seems to be slowly getting worse and far less rewarding. It's gotten to a point where I don't enjoy playing anymore, and so I'm going to leave.

Minecraft as a whole has been getting worse. Older, more mature players/people move on to different things, so there's a ton more kids who do kid things. Minecraft is an old game, almost as old as TF2, believe it or not. Old Towny/iConomy servers like this aren't popular, all people care about now is small niche servers, hubs, and modded Minecraft. I bet you we're the last major server like this.

Please name a game that youve played for 4 years as much as Minecraft that hasnt gotten boring.
We try to make it more rewarding, but your logic is still ill. Your thought is that if I make it easy to get money its more rewarding but thats not how it works.
The way I have it set up now is rewarding. When you work for 5 days, 1 hour per day and finally afford a town on day 6 and say "YEs! Got my town". Thats rewarding. Logging in with 1,000,000 is not

The only change i would like to see: increase jobs rewards 500%, decrease /jobs limit to 5k or 10k per day.

The purpose of wealth (in meepcraft)
    • Keep score
    • Pay town upkeep
    • Pvp (bleh)
Any other action is in direct support of one of these three overarching purposes.

A smaller cap which is more easily obtainable would encourage more daily, casual play.

This would be very reflective of a real life economy, where a person goes to work most days to earn a small amount.

This would create steady linear wealth growth across the more casual player base (citizens and joined this month.)

To me, it's really a question of linear vs. exponential wealth growth. So long as you keep wealth growth linear, then wealth can and will be redistributed and overall the economy will grow at a steady sustainable rate based on the current player population.

I don't sell ranks, i just hit #8 on /baltop. I do this by redistributing others wealth to me, usually 5 or 10 meebles at a time via things like fences, chests, xpbottles, books, etc on v-shop and the occasional bigger item sell like a good pick or e-book.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with economic growth and ppl should be able to easily generate (a small amout daily of) wealth.
