I don't support transgenderism. Convince me otherwise.

I'm confused by the lack of trans-genderism throughout all of human history and then the abundance of it now.

I couldn't care less what people feel like being, but I do dislike the insistence of specialized pronoun. I refer to people as "he" or "she", if you don't call into those two, I call you "it".

I agree exactly with what you say, and I've asked myself the same question before.

    I get your argument --

There are cases of trans-genderism that are based on criteria - A male's body not producing enough testosterone or other hormones that make them feel not male, or female.

But then there is a whole bandwagon of people who just want to choose a gender with no real criteria.

The argument is gender's role on society - But what role in society does gender play and how does changing the gender affect role in society?

Does your gender matter if you're dirt poor, or super rich? What are legitimate criteria's on this decision?

Questioning something doesn't make you against it - It makes you more informed on it.

The focus of transgenderism is where an individual feels they should be a different gender then their DNA and body actually show. There is one exception to this, but people are either born male or female. The exception is an interesting side case where they're half both from having an XXY 23rd chromosome. This is rare and isn't the cause of transgender debate. As such, I'll ignore this for most of my argument.

Some people feel that they are the opposite gender of their birth. Any other case isn't an argument in this category, but instead a message on where they feel they should fit in society. That's silly, as it does nothing to help anyone involved in societal issues of gender. As far as I can tell, transgenders, for whatever reason, truly feel that they have the wrong body. This then is a psychological condition, not saying that these types of people have a problem, but that they have an abnormal thought process. Psychological conditions can be caused by a variety of things, so it doesn't matter much about the cause. (Also, hormone levels have nothing to do with an individual's gender except that each gender usually produces different amounts of certain hormones.)

For those who are in the middle group, I don't mind them living life as an inbetween of both genders, but it would be difficult. Usually, doctors say choose a side and it's done. Straddling both genders is a difficult way to live, as it would be difficult to be part of any group.

it. is. ace. it has its own definition. it is not the same as sex. they are related. they touch on each other. they are not the same thing. The simple fact that you keep stating that they need to be distinct outlines your inability to grasp what it is. That may not be your own fault. The topic is tricky. Its confusing. I would be lying to you if I said gender is a simple and your an idiot for not getting it. Your not an idiot for not understanding a complex issue. However, you can't keep thinking the two are the same and say they need to be separate as if its not been pointed out that they are not the same.

No. You cannot. Thats why the argument is idiotic. You cannot freely pick random objects and make them a gender. then mockingly try to imitate the left's remark of "who's to say I can't". A dragon is not a gender. A dragon could possibly have a gender, a dragon itself is not a gender.

Ace, I took an entire concept with decades of research and tried to shrink it down into one sentence. Obviously the definition isn't complete. Please don't take that as the all encompassing definition.

I'm going to leave the post at this point. Was interesting to hear some of the things said. Slightly disappointed gender dysphoria didn't come up really. Ben Shapiro's arguments on it are actually really interesting to listen to if you haven't heard them. The things I think you should do more research on your own are

    1) The definitions of sex and gender and what explicitly separates the two things
    2) The gender spectrum
    3) What can be considered a gender and what can't be. This relates closely to the gender spectrum and I feel when you do your own personal research into the gender spectrum you'll see why the frog argument is non sense.

Enjoy the rest of the thread 7ace. I hope you get out of this thread whatever it is you are looking for.

Felt like it'd be appropriate to note that the difference between sex and gender is that sex is one's biological state of being either male or female, and gender is an individual's preferred gender, or what they consider their gender identity. Seems like the conversation would be several times more constructive if we cleared up the distinction between sex and gender.

    1) I believe in reincarnation.

    2) Assuming reincarnation, some will certainly choose to incarnate as both genders.

    3) (I'm under the impression that spiritually, we do have a gender.)

    4) If we choose to incarnate into a gender opposite our spiritual one, or live several lives as male, then switch to female (for example,) it could cause some spiritual confusion.

    5) I believe we incarnate as beings other than human (on other planets) so there are likely more than two (binary) genders to experience.

    6) I really don't care what another person identifies as their gender so long as they do no harm.

    7) How you identify your gender is far less defining than how cruel or kind you are in your interactions with other people. It is critical to act with compassion towards others.

Just to quickly clarify, why do you believe in reincarnation? And why do you believe that we reincarnate as aliens? A bit confused on how someone could come to that conclusion.

Oh come on, did you even read my post? I know about transgender people. I'm saying that I'm perfectly fine with transgender people doing whatever the hell they want, that's my FIRST SENTENCE on my post. I'm giving them this respect. I just don't agree with the process of "switching sex", it's biologically impossible, which is why I don't support it. I don't care what our "transgender youth" says, your sex can't be changed by how you feel.

If you're going to tell me in order to respect this person I have to pretend they're another gender they're not, I'm not doing that. Feelings can't change facts.

I think that transgenderism is now an issue because people in first world countries typically no longer need to worry about basic necessities, like hunger and thirst. Almost every issue young teenagers face nowadays is strictly social. Transgenderism is, simply said, largely a first world problem. I feel like in a struggle to differentiate themselves and in an absense of real challenge, teenagers are too quick and too sensitive to call themselves depressed or autistic. I feel like this extends to transgenderism, to a certain extent.

This is a whole other topic...!

"To quickly clarify" I would say about 25 years of contemplation and research.

    1) To me, an individual's belief system is just the limits they place on their own mind.

    2) Literally anything is possible because all reality exists within one endless mind (what most ppl tyically think of as God.)

    3) We too share the nature of that being, we are eternal, infinite, and limitless. We do not perceive ourselves to be so because we limit ourselves as part of living in this physical life.

    4) So if anything is possible, and we have no limits, and we have all eternity...

    5) ...then anything you believe is true for you. You create a whole reality and set of rules for yourself. You create your own truth.

    6) In this lifetime, you (and I) are experiencing what it is like to have limits. To have a creative idea and have to manipulate the physical constituents to manifest it.

    7) To me reincarnation seems quite logical and efficient. If we are infinite, limitless parts of that mind, then we would (like them) desire to experience. And would do so through living many lifetimes, sometimes forgetting our infinite, limitless nature in order to experience a sense of finite (limited perception,) limit (limited by physical bodies,) and a non-eternal existence (mortality / life span of 70-100 years or less / time itself.)

    8) It is my understanding that they (the infinite mind/ all spirit/ God) experiences through all of us and all of reality at the same time. So that's quite a lot to experience/be aware of!

    9) Lastly, it is my further understanding that this boundless experience shall continue to go on forever without end, but what is most perplexing to contemplate is that it has no beginning either... hence eternity.

Look, I'm not promoting that we don't discuss this, but you getting worked up about how people aren't giving good responses on a MINECRAFT forum is a bit crazy, don't you think?

This is a forum dedicated to debates, I should be allowed to promote one without the "this is a minecraft server" catchall argument being used against me.In hindsight, it was a bit stupid of me to ask here as I expected much more intelligent responses, but I shouldn't be deemed crazy for trying to promote a civil discussion. Despite this being a minecraft server forum, there's still a lot of intelligent people on here, people I've known for a long time.

I don't really understand how giving them your 100% respect is not identifying them as what they feel their gender is. A lot of being a male or female is brain chemistry, so yeah you can feel more masculine or feminine and if you want to give people who feel different about their gender your 100% respect, you should probably call them by the pronouns that they want.

I don't know a single teenager that has ever called themselves autistic. There's a big culture where you call people autistic as a joke because you might do things differently (which is totally fricked up, but that's a whole other debate), but you seldom see people self-diagnosing as autistic.

This isn't true. It's true that people in developed countries have more access to going through the surgeries and medicins, but people in developing countries can most definetly feel the same way as people in developed countries. They just don't have the medical resources as readily avaliable as developed countries do.

Can you provide me with evidence differentiating the chemicals found in differing transgendered people?

I know, I did that google search before I asked. :)

The reason I asked is that this topic is fairly complex and both sides often make arguments without having much information behind them.

My personal opinion is I couldn't care less what they feel they are, or want them to be referred as. But I think it's also distasteful to attack a person of being disrespectful based on that terminology. From my own perspective - I will always refer to someone as a he or she depending on how they most fit either criteria physically. I have no interest in delving any deeper into a person's live to pick up non-obvious or hidden signals of some third-party gender type.

I think it's a mistake to lump poeople who just don't care either way with those who are actively seek to hinder those people living their lives.
