How is this legal???

You guys are like toddlers that don't even want something until they see another toddler playing with it, and then they throw a hissy fit because now they want that thing too.

 

All people want the pwarps for is to sell for meebles.

 

A lot of the ones I found would have fallen if pwarp tax was not broken.
They were not used

I just put the one I got in my town so I can get to it easier hahahaha

The "main" person just has them because why not.
If you're going to go inactive and not have enough money to pay pwarp tax, why do you deserve to sit there with a useless pwarp when some active player can make some great shop or whatever the poo with it?

So can you then accses what is left of this players money and give that to m? Sins basicly what you did then is that you gave them something worth 30000 meebels for free from anotehr user? How is that not theft? You take something that is not yours without premission and give it to someone else? Or did you have premission from the player that owned the pwarp to do that? If it was a auto reset i would understand it because then everyone has a chance to get it, but giving it to players can make it look like ''oh i like you so i will give this to you'' that is a terible policy. Unless there is info that i do not have. And yes i do agree that this is a mistake. #learn from it.

The fact that you are defending something that stands agianst the rules makes no sense to me. The fact is you can't say when a pwarp has been abandoned, is it when a players towny data resets? Is it when a players money resets? When is it? If there was a automatic system that reset it like with towny data there would be no issue. But when a staff goes ahead and does this without any premission from the owner of the pwarp, it is theft. I think this is a mistake and there is a simple solution to the issue. And that is to learn from the mistake and not do it. Another thing is that pwarps like /pwarp shop is worth a insane amount of money. If a player was inactive for 30+ days and it was given away and that player came back then what?

 

I think it's easy to clarify when a pwarp is abandoned. When a player has their eco data reset it means they lost *everything* in towny, but since pwarp upkeep is broken they get to keep the pwarp name indefinitely. This isn't fair because active players should be able to get the pwarp of the unused and wiped accounts, if they are not taken away then they will sit their forever. It's basically like they got wiped but since pwarp upkeep is broken then staff have to circumvent the system.

If someone is inactive to the point that everything is wiped I doubt they will be worried about their pwarp. Meep makes it clear that if you're gone for 60+ days you lose your stuff.

So if i understand your logic correctly, you think instead of makeing a trello card that makes a fix for this bug then waiting for it to get fixed by the techs on the server. They should rather just give technicly millions (over time) away to people in pwarps? There is a difference between staff giving away stuff and the server doing it via reset. And there has been no info that this is a possibility for anyone before this. And we have never done it before so idk.

 

It'd be fine if June just deleted the pwarps, but giving them to players is complete wrong.

 

Pain, I think trying to fix the bug is a great idea. Unfortunately we both know that towny issues will sit for years without being touched *glares at the towny issue trello card*. I do think fixing the problem is better than circumventing it, but I don't find it a heinous act of crime to take a few pwarp from wiped accounts that shouldn't have them anyway.

 

It isn't a crime to take them away, but June was giving them to certain players for free. Not at all fair. How would have someone like me had the chance to get a free pwarp? I had to pay for all of mine? Why should people close to June get free pwarps

 

You act like she was caught using smods powers to xray, or spawn in eco ruining items. She gave like 3 kids a free pwarp! I give free stuff away all the time why is that a bad thing? I'll pay the 30k for each pwarp cost so now they're no longer free and nobody but me can complain because I paid.

After sending 90,000 to June I understand why she didn't make people pay for the warps. It's because they can't just /pay Meep they have to /pay June, but I'm guessing she isn't doing this to make money for herself so she didn't need the payment. I can imagine the backlash if you guys found out she made people pay *her* 30k for each pwarp. "Why are you making money off other people's pwarps?!"

So now June has 90k more for no reason and 3 kids got a free pwarp. I hope we can all be happy now

She gave windowisdaddy a few dozen, and in the 15 minutes from this thread being posted before the smods stopped, a ton of people were running around finding old pwarps and taking them.

Windowisdaddy made a thread about selling well known pwarp names that he had procured, I have a screenshot of the list, these are just the ones he felt were valuable pwarp names. he claimed to be paying "about 100k" in pwarp taxes a day on these pwarps, at 3k a day per pwarp thats at least 33 pwarps, so it wasn't just "3 kids" it was a pretty wide spread thing, and since it wasn't made widely known only one person got a decent chance at it.

 

There seems to be 3 main complaints that arose from this thread. Im going to try answering each one as fully as possible, and then i'm going to get a milkshake.

1. How is giving away pwarps legal?​

A. Giving away pwarps seems legal because the players that the pwarps are taken from have all been wiped with reset towny data. Additionally they all have been banned and each pwarp was unusable because it was dangerous. Staff took pwarps from inactive players that should've had them wiped so they can keep circulating around the active players. Meep gives full notice that anyone gone for more than 60 days loses their stuff.

2. Why didn't people have to pay for the pwarp they recieved?
A. People didn't have to pay because there is no way to pay the server for a pwarp transaction. The only possible person to pay would be the supermod giving away the pwarp, but it would be seen as a scam if supermods were taking old pwarps and selling them, so instead they give them away for free so they dont earn an unfair profit.

3. Why didn't everyone get a fair chance at claiming a pwarp?
A. Well according to @DwarFmorf101​

Therefore we can tell that there was no special privileges to special people. Anyone was allowed to find an claim an abandoned warp, some acted on it while others didn't. Apparently a ton of people actually got one after it was made public, so if someone didn't get a pwarp I assume its because they're lazy and don't really care.

This is absolutely not true, I can give you the list of pwarps, but around half of them are in a town.

Simple, delete the pwarps instead of giving them away, if someone wants one then they can pay the 30k.

That quote is out of context, I said In the 15 minutes before the practice was stopped there was a ton of people running around getting pwarps, before this thread, which I bet is where 90% of you found out this was a thing that was happening, only (AFAIK) windowisdaddy was doing it.

If you pay attention to several others peoples (opinions) then its not even an idea that would come into there head, in most peoples views it was stealing, most players wouldn't even think to ask "Hey mod, theres this guy whos been 60 days inactive, can I have his stuff", now I am sure that the policy for this was given on the spot, they hadn't had the idea that if someone asked for a pwarp from an old player they would give it away, so they decided it was cool and said yes, at that point, they should have made it public, especially after giving windowisdaddy around 30 pwarps.
