Is no one gonna bring up Westboro Baptist Church? They're planning on picketing Robin Williams' funeral because he played a gay character in a movie ;_; seriously

 

Yes agreed Skaros, in fact the NFL has signed many players with bad criminal history (several murder, rape, and about a billion drug charges) with little reaction from the public but people are frustrated about 1 homosexual man.
However on the other end of the spectrum I don't think Michael Sam should be praised as a hero, he is just doing what he personaly believes in like anyone else.

My personal belief regaurding gay rights is always that even though I'm not in favor of anyone embracing homosexuality belief is a right and as long as someone else's belief doesn't hurt me or society as a whole they have a right to it.

Ok, and just an additional note, a the people against gay rights have rights to. Whatever we may think its not right to tell someone else what to thing BUT this goes both ways, I don't call people against homosexuality bigots because they also have a right to believe what they want, I simply had to add this because I feel like society is going in the direction of a sort of "liberal fascism", traditional fascism enforces close minded ness while this form doesn't allow for close mindedness at all, everyone on any side of the argument should have their right of belief. It's ok to say "I hate bigots" but much less to say "I hate gay people".

 

Ok true. I try not to make a big deal out of it though, because I don't see why everyone needs to gossip about an athlete coming out.

I brought up this issue as well in an older post. If someone doesn't agree with gay rights, they can't just flip a switch and think differently. Our minds determine what we think, and we can't just change them as we please. So I don't hold anything against someone who disagrees with gay rights, because that's how they honestly feel.

Protesting. Marching around with signs and chanting. Generally getting in everyone's way.

And the things they say about Australia as well. I'm Australian, and while I'm not exactly a patriot, I gotta say I have a strong hatred of them as well.. Look up the stuff they say about us. It's bloody disgraceful.

 

I'm exactly the same. Aussie, not a patriot, but pretty *don't say anything that would get you forum banned* annoyed.

 

I honestly think the group should be shut down, because it's disgusting what they've done. I made a discussion about it on another forum telling users what they've done in the past, including protesting at a vigil for the Sandy Hook victims. Just disgusting.

Here's the thing, they have the right to do that, they should not and can not be shut down. As much as I hate that group they have every right to march for their twisted beliefs. So yes, if we say we are going to shut them down for what they believe than that is wrong. I in no way whatsoever advocate for their ideas but they have a right to make them known.

 

You know what's hilarious? They make parodies! Some of these are kinda funny, actually... lol

... Watch at your own risk. These people don't care about making Christian videos children friendly.

 

It's not because of what they believe, it's because of how they show it. They showed up to a vigil for murdered children and basically say that it's a good thing. Those parents had just lost their sons and daughters and this "church" just added to that. Something like that should not be acceptable.

 

Wow why does people fite over gay rights. Not that I like it, I think its gross when I see 2 men kissing with each other. *Throws up in a bag*

Also, I'll say again what I said in a previous post: I don't mind if you don't like homosexuality, because someone can't just flip a switch and have a differing opinion, and nobody has to like it, they just have to accept it.
