I think gays are awesome, brave people. Having low self confidence, i would never be able to do something so bold. Gays have every right to find love as staight people do.

Yeah, hard.
There's a reason we don't mix church and state. Haven't you heard? Why are you claiming that laws are already based on religion? Why are you saying that someone's opinion is wrong simply because that's what they believe?
"Oh and don't forget people, we all know that people can marry their horse legally in places like texas (I kid you not this is real), but Dave and Sam can't get married because of the religious text with more than 500+ contradictions in it, that is taken out of context means that it's against the law."
This, just... no. There IS a separation of Church and State. Why else would this even be considered...
Now, since you brought religion into this, I'll state blatantly that my religion tells me being homosexual (or "gay" which is a stupid term to try to insult someone with... I mean, really? It means happy, like wtf who came up with this???) is wrong.
But guess what?
It also tells me that I cannot judge others. That's between God and them. I can't have a problem with gay people, and don't, because from my experience, many of them are extremely understanding, kind, and helpful, as a lot of kids who have been bullied are.
Quite frankly, anyone who isn't homosexual really can't argue about homosexuality being innate or not because, well, they don't know.
Yet... at the same time, being homosexual has almost become a fad... who knows.joshofosho, Lilliya, AmericanCroc and 8 others like this. -

Well let me tell you guys this, there is no legal definition of a religion(go ahead go the library or a book store and look it up in a Marriam Webster's legal dictionary and show people here proof that there is no legal definition), so you can literally go say that you're (insert new religion name here ist) and that anyone that believes that according to their religion that being LGBTQA+ is a sin, is not only condemned to eternity in your religion's hell, but that their soul is split into one thousand+ different different pieces, so their suffering will be a thousand+ times greater than what they say is going to happen to you when you die.

Side note, I'm becoming a lawyer just so I can sue as many a holes that think they can in any form bully kids of any orientation and get away with it, I may not be able to send them all away, though I can certainly at least pay for the kids that they've tormented's therapy bills for a year or two with the money. Bully is poor? I guess they should've thought of what can happen to them when they get sued for tens of thousands of dollars, before they laughed at doing *insert horrible thing here* to someone.
Not even that much money, no problem, I hope they like over crowded juvies with kids that were put in there because of them beating the crap out of a homophobic tool bag that hit them for years, and was not able to get the bully in trouble. (This sadly happens due to courts siding with the bully, because it's hard to convey years of mental abuse in mere words)--- Double Post Merged, May 8, 2014, Original Post Date: May 8, 2014 ---

I notice a lot of bills against gay rights being passed, but what about like mistressmacabre said, clothes made of unnatural synthesized fibers, why are there no laws being passed banning those because those are against the bible? Why aren't there any campaigns to raise money to ban those kinds of clothes from states? How come I see bigotry against something that's easy to get done, and doesn't affect the law makers, yet there is no biggotry when it comes to something that would not allow them to wear their fancy 2k+$ outfit that's cosy to wear to meetings.
Where is the bill that according to the bible should be done without question, about a married woman grabbing some guy in a place she shouldn't, having her hand cut off? WHERE IS THIS BILL, IT'S IN THE BIBLE ISN'T IT? DOESN'T THAT MEAN THAT IT SHOULD BE THE LAW? OH, AND LETS NOT FORGET THE PART ABOUT PAYING YOUR SLAVE EVERY WEDNESDAY, CAN'T DO IT? THEN GET A SLAVE..OOPS THAT'S A NONO IN THE EYE'S OF THE US, MY BAD, IT'S JUST IN THE BIBLE, AND SHOULD THEREFOR BE LAW.
Before someone mentions the bible being against gay rights etc, and therefore the gays are going to hell one more time, consider the above. I can keep this on for days. (I actually can, I have an entire word document filled with these, and entire paragraphs of this stuff : D )LadyReggles44, WeAreNumberUno, me64 and 8 others like this. -
Bumping this back up for the sake of stating my own opinion on this topic.
Gay rights is, in my opinion, a big issue, and something that I fully support.
I believe that no matter what your personal believes are, you should support gay rights. I am a Christian myself, but I don't believe that being homosexual or any other sexual orientation besides heterosexual is a bad thing, and I don't believe that homosexual people are any more likely to go to Hell than heterosexual people are. If you do believe that homosexuality is wrong, it shouldn't really matter, homosexual people should still have equal rights. Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing on your beliefs or calling you wrong if you do believe that, you can believe whatever you want to. However, even if you don't support homosexuality, that absolutely does not give you the right to control the lives of others based on your beliefs.
Everyone should be able to live however they want to, as long it doesn't harm others, and homosexuality doesn't. On top of this, homosexuality is not a choice, but a natural thing. There's been a lot of studies to confirm this, but even if those can't convince you, think of it this way, if homosexuality was a choice, then why would many people who are homosexual spend years before they come out of the closet because of the fear of being rejected, discriminated against, and treated differently, when they could just "decide" to be heterosexual instead and then not have to worry about any of this?
Back to religion, if you're a Christian and you are homophobic, think of the parts of the scriptures that say things such as "Do to others as you would have them do to you" and "Love your neighbour as yourself". Would you treat yourself this way or want others to treat you like this because of something about yourself that you think is sinful? Probably not. Most sins are regarded as bad, but aren't treated as too big of a deal when they are done, because everyone sins. So, if homosexuality is a sin, then why is it treated as something so much worse than many other sins? People shouldn't be treated differently just because they sin in a different way than you do. Also, if gay rights and/or homosexuality in general is illegal, then should that mean that all things that the Bible has scriptures against should be illegal too? Should things such as eating pork, eating shellfish, wearing torn clothes, tattoos, etc. be illegal too? And the thing is, people can choose not to do these other things, but most of them are easily forgiven or not really regarded as sins, but homosexuality is not a choice, and it is considered worse, and I don't believe that that it how it should be. If you do believe that it is a sin, you should still accept homosexual and not treat them differently, just like you accept other people that you know despite their sins.
Another thing is, if you're a Christian, then you most likely want to spread the religion to more people. So, what do you think is a better way to do that, by being kind and accepting to people no matter who they are, or by discriminating against them and not accepting them because of the way that they sin in your eyes? I don't know about you, but if I was not religious, I probably wouldn't consider becoming a part of a religion if its followers treated me like that.
Overall, whatever you personally believe is okay, and you should be respected for your beliefs just like other people should be respected for theirs. But that does not at all give you the right to control the lives of others, discriminate against them, and be jerks based on what you believe. Just be nice, loving, and accepting to everyone, and let them live their life how they want to and by being who they are.LR_Davius, Captain_Twinkies, NHPSR225 and 7 others like this. -
Why should people have the right to make their own decisions?
Blasphemy!Cherrykit, TimtheFireLord, TrisDa and 7 others like this. -
Here's where we draw the line: Gay couples pay taxes and are consenting adults. Kids and animals are NOT consenting adults and they do not pay taxes. Adults are capable of making their own decisions and being functional members of society. You won't have an animal be able to sign their own marriage license. Kids are too young to make their own decisions.
To make things plain and simple; we draw the line at consensual adult love.Cherrykit, kwagscraft, Splendy and 6 others like this. -
Ah, another thread where I can preach on my metaphorical soap box.
Probably, as many of you older forum users know, I'm a strong believer in gay rights and still firmly am. Alongside this fact I believe in the Bible. in an attempt to not offend other users, I'll keep this brief and try to keep out of most of the "praise God" aspects of the Bible and rather focus on teachings that most of society agrees with. In the New Testament, Jesus teaches that the most important commandment is "Love thy neighbor as thyself". To truly love your neighbor is to not see them as what they are but see them as yourself. In the parable of the Good Samaritan, a Samaritan man comes across a Jewish man lying on the ground, dying. Although Samaritans and Jews at the time did not care for each other, this Samaritan treats the Jewish man with care and love. The parable is an explained story of "Treat others as you would want to be treated."
So how can you treat others like you would yourself? Well, if you would like to get married, let others get married. If you would like to eat, let others eat. If you would like to do X activity, let someone else do X activity and don't hinder them from doing this activity. To follow the Bible is to follow the principle of "love thy neighbor as thyself". Every commandment in the Bible can be related back to that. Your neighbor is everyone in the universe, and if you are to truly love them, you do not hinder them.
Politicians put their hand on the Bible and swear to uphold the Constitution, they did not put their hand on the Constitution and swear to uphold the Bible.
This topic hits home for me and I'm very passionate about it. Also, in an effort to not offend, this will be my only post and I hope it opens up some minds to the topic of Gay Rights. -

I apologize for any repeating, I read no part of this other than part of the first page. I have some things to point out.
Let me begin by saying, if you hate/dislike members of the LGBT community and it isn't for religious reasons you need to reconsider how you are acting. I will address religious clashing a little bit later.
Here is a short story I read online, some of you may of heard of it.
" I went to subway today to get my favorite sandwich. The man in front of me ordered a different sub. I got really pissed because he didn't get the same thing as me, even though it didn't affect me in any way."
Why does it matter how other people choose to live their lives when it affects you at a bare minimum? Grow up and deal with things you don't enjoy in life, because there are going to be a lot of them.
If your problem with LGBT people stems from personal morals due to your religion, I have some words.
People say that in the Bible, it is said that there is to be a man and a woman. The Bible also states that you cannot divorce, but look what we've done. Divorcing is now common among the human population, even devote Bible-believers. Should we then seek punishment for those who are divorced? As well, in the Bible it is clearly stated that "God loves all his children." Is that forgotten? Do we pick and choose what parts of our religion to listen to? As the great Mack-le-moar once said, "Whatever God you believe in, we come from the same one." We fight and argue about religion and race now at a time where we are past racial segregation. This is no different, I believe in equal rights for EVERY human. Accepting each other is the first step to peace and love, or the human race will eventually destroy itself.

I am a Catholic. And despite what my religion states, I believe gay marriage should be legalized. This is because that, as stated in the bible, you should love your neighbor as your self. And it only serves to sicken me when a person states that and than proceeds to preach hatred toward homosexuals.

I think Skaros was thinking of these verses:
"If any man takes a wife and goes in to her and then turns against her, 14 and charges her with shameful deeds and publicly defames her, and says, ‘I took this woman, but when I came near her, I did not find her a virgin,’ then the girl’s father and her mother shall take and bring out the evidence of the girl’s virginity to the elders of the city at the gate. "And the girl’s father shall say to the elders, ‘I gave my daughter to this man for a wife, but he turned against her; and behold, he has charged her with shameful deeds, saying, "I did not find your daughter a virgin." But this is the evidence of my daughter’s virginity.’ And they shall spread the garment before the elders of the city. "So the elders of that city shall take the man and chastise him, and they shall fine him a hundred shekels of silver and give it to the girl’s father, because he publicly defamed a virgin of Israel. And she shall remain his wife; he cannot divorce her all his days. "But if this charge is true, that the girl was not found a virgin, then they shall bring out the girl to the doorway of her father’s house, and the men of her city shall stone her to death because she has committed an act of folly in Israel, by playing the harlot in her father’s house; thus you shall purge the evil from among you." Deuteronomy 22:13-21
(Disclaimer: I don't believe any of that ^. This is just for clarification.--- Double Post Merged, May 8, 2014, Original Post Date: May 8, 2014 ---
Just one example from Huckabee:
You say that if one is not homosexual, we cannot argue whether or not homosexuality is innate. That is what science is for. Most notably, genetics, neuroscience, and psychology.
Homosexuality was removed from the Sexual Disorder section in the DSM in 1986 because it is NOT a psychological disorder. There is also no evidence that neurological trauma causes homosexuality. There is, however, evidence that certain genetic markers on the X chromosome may be linked to homosexuality at CONCEPTION. This means that a gay person is born gay. It is not a choice. Too many peer reviewed articles to list so I'll just give you the link to google scholar with a search term: http://scholar.google.com/scholar?q=homosexuality+in+dna&btnG=&hl=en&as_sdt=0,14&as_vis=1
As for you thinking homosexuality is a fad: Who would choose to live a lifestyle that most often involves ostracism, oppression and being viewed as a second class citizen? People lose their families and friends when they "come out". They are bullied and have less rights that heterosexuals. It's disgusting that humanity has not yet overcome these stigmas. It is definitely not a "fad".
I am happy to know that you are accepting of LGBT individuals, though.Cherrykit, Lilliya, Tigressnerd and 6 others like this. -

Exodus 20:14 "You shall not commit adultery."
Deuteronomy 22:22 "If a man is found sleeping with another man's wife, both the man who slept with her and the woman must die."
Leviticus 20:10 "If a man commits adultery with another man's wife--with the wife of his neighbor--both the adulterer and the adulteress must be put to death."
Proverbs 6:32 "But a man who commits adultery lacks judgment; whoever does so destroys himself."
Leviticus 21:9 "And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the whore, she profaneth her father: she shall be burnt with fire."
Deuteronomy 25:11-12 "If two men are fighting and the wife of one of them comes to rescue her husband from his assailant, and she reaches out and seizes him by his private parts, you shall cut off her hand. Show her no pity."
Matthew 19:9 "I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, and marries another woman commits adultery."
For adultery
If a damsel that is a virgin be betrothed unto an husband, and a man find her in the city, and lie with her; Then ye shall bring them both out unto the gate of that city, and ye shall stone them with stones that they die; the damsel, because she cried not, being in the city.
