What were the best/worst/funniest applications ever accepted or denied and then accepted later?

I like Sjoe's first application which was denied after only 3 comments due to editing (but was later accepted). He clearly didn't let that stop him from becoming one of the most beloved staff members!

Ugleh's tech application was weird! At that time you weren't even supposed to apply for tech through the forums process you have now! He first developed boomo and I thought he was pretty chill but it turned out he xrayed and we've never seen him since. We don't really talk about him now. One of his comments was, "I don't feel I need to put in a lot of effort in my app if I am not getting paid for the position. Its just like "Meh, ill try to apply." Funny, funny dude. Wonder what he's up to nowadays.
