YOU are supposed to love thy neighbors as you love thyself. YOU are not supposed to disrespect them & treat them badly simply because they are gay or whatever it is. Look at it this way....
you broke a vase in your house, your parents are the ones that are supposed to discipline you, not your siblings. It’s not saying that Christians should be mean to gays, but it’s saying you’re not supposed to be gay.

If you read the Bible, the human body is NOT your body. It’s Gods body, we’re just using it. If someone allows you to borrow their car... do you change the rims? Tint the windows? No. You return it the exact same way you found it. Tattooing the body is changing the body.

I’m kinda confused as well with the what to eat stuff. I believe it’s saying don’t kill something you’re not going to eat & just like the apple Adam & Eve weren’t supposed to eat, rodents are the same thing.

I’m not a heavy Christian but I am a Christian. I believe the Bible is a guide book & people can interpret it differently. I don’t go to church that often because I feel preachers will teach you the Bible in the way they interpret it & I don’t like that. I’ll read & learn it as I want to. I do go to church to learn & ask questions tho.

I’ll have to look into it. I don’t think it’s the enslavement of non-Jews. I believe it’s talking about, if you owe someone any debt and you couldn’t pay it off you would basically become their slave for 6 years and on the 7th year you were set free. This is the old testiment tho. Typically Christians follow the new testiment.

It’s believed that Moses wrote the first testament (the testament that is used in Judaism) & different authors wrote the New Testament that were inspired by God & God told them what to write.

On this note, I don’t think the Bible contradicts itself but I try my best not to talk religion with others. I hold religion close to me & religion is a part of many people’s daily lives. I do try & correct things sometimes or make them clear when people don’t understand.

So I’m going to respectfully end me talking on this thread here. (Which can change in the future if I feel I need to come back).

I'm a full-time atheist, but we know that Jesus was a historical figure, the same as Shakespeare was, the same as George Washington was, the same as we will be. On the other hand, nobody can prove that he was the Son of God.

 

we also can’t go back in time of the “Big Bang” (which seems equally if not more far fetched than biblical stories), therefore none of you can say God doesn’t exist or the Big Bang didn’t happen.

God created the Big Bang.

 

Shakespeare and George Washington are in relatively recent history with well documented existence. Jesus is more comparable to Socrates, and their is significant debate as to whether Socrates existed. AFAIK the only firsthand accounts of Jesus are from his students, similarly to how the only first hand account of Socrates' existence is from his students (Plato and Aristotle).

However being gay is largely genetic (not nessecarily passed down from father to child however... studies show that gays have a much higher chance of fathering gay offspring) so... is this not similar to saying you not supposed to be black?

I dont think death is like sleeping. It is nonexistance. People envision seeing black, but you don't see at all, it is the lack of consciousness and thought and self-awareness, for eternity in not time at all. Fun stuff.
