It's completely ridiculous to say it's reasonable to abort a child because the woman doesn't want to be a mother, or she doesn't have the resources to be one. Adoption or foster care is always an option, even if the kid spends 18 years hopping from home to home they still have a chance for life to be what they make of it after that. Let me ask you a question when you drop your ice cream do you wish you could just opt out of life? It doesn't make any sense to take someone's chance for a good life because they may experience some hardships along the way.

@Muunkee why are you calling for Klutch? lol, you say something to me you should expect something back? You said a disability, Down syndrome is a disability. My aunts step son and his wife were having a baby and they asked them if they wanted to abort it because the child had a 97% or something like that chance of having Down syndrome. They declined and the baby came out 100% normal.

I'm on my phone so excuse me not quoting you on this, bare with me here.

Okay so rape? Again I'm not a female so I wouldn't know HOWEVER! Adoption is not a long process unless you yourself are adopting the child. Shoot do you know how many parents have dropped children off at the fire station? (please don't do this)

Sure I would take something back I did, but not in that case. Kill the soon to be child because "you don't want to be a parent"? Absolutely not. Would never cross my mind as a parent and if I had any say in it as the father it wouldn't be a "no" on abortion but it would be a HELL NO!

No one forced you to get pregnant? We're just (us pro-lifers) trying to force you to carry the child, were not even asking you to raise it JUST SPIT THE THING OUT!

I'm not say we should all behave the same way.

I didn't miss your point. Your point is trying to make abortion seem like a good thing when it's not. Something's you just can't reverse in life (well in this case you can but shouldn't be allowed too)

Okay so safe abortions? Well then the mother will have to suffer and live with it forever on top of the fact that we could shut down any "illegal" abortion clinic that does these.

Okay let me say this again, ITS ILLGEL TO FIRE SOMEONE FOR BEING PREGNANT! So no it won't happen. Did you know a company also can't fire someone for going into the military? Running for mayor? President? Like there's a list of things they can't fire you for.

No I'm not saying that because you date with pregnant your a whore. However, to abort a child because you "may or may not get a date" is ridiculous.

Again, abort the child because of a few stretch marks?

If you pick a good man to have sex with you'd have 2 incomes.

Im not saying all women are trashy but to abort a child due to a few stretch marks or higher numbers on a scale OR "Not wanting to be a mommy" is ridiculous, people who think that way deserve no child, ever!

So your good with same day abortions?

The brain we need comment was 1 example, free college is ridiculous. Work for it. I think college can be cheaper but not free. Especially 4 year universities, those definitely shouldn't be free. If anything I would agree on a 2 year degree being free.

What are you even trying to say?

You cant use hypothetical stories in order to make a true story seem real.

That's the problem, you're telling women they have to go through 9 months of pain, tiredness and sickness; go through labour, which you can actually die from, by the way. Even if it doesn't look like there'll be complications beforehand. For those 9 months, that woman's body does not belong to her, you are "forcing" her to give up her life for nine months just because you want to see if the baby that comes out is the next picasso.

There is an abortion limit for a reason, it is before the child can survive on their own outside of the woman. Up until that deadline, their lungs are not developed, their brain is not developed. As @Muunkee said, they cannot feel pain, they have no consciousness, they are a collection of cells. The baby would know nothing.

It's unreasonable to ask what the baby would say if you asked them because at that point, they literally cannot think, feel or speak. After that point, sure, but that's why there's an abortion deadline.

As a side note to the "spit it out" comment. A baby's head is roughly around 35cm if carried to full term and, if my maths is correct, that makes the diameter of the head around 20cm. During labour, the cervix, vaginal canal and vulva only stretch to about 10cm. Try and spit a gobstopper out that's double the size of your mouth stretching at its furthest point. Can you imagine that your mouth would tear painfully? It's the same thing that happens down there, and that's the least of it. It's absolutely not a case of just spitting something out.

As for your comment about hypothetical stories, the purpose of them is to make a further comment using a situation with similar storylines in order to further explain or give an example of a situation. You absolutely can use hypothetical stories to make a true story seem more real. See above.

Sure it is! That child is still a child. Its under the age of 18 right? If you didn't want to have a kid, be responsible, stop fooling around, and use birth control. If you were raped, that's a different story...

Why does a woman, in your eyes, only get rights to her own body if she was raped first?

If a woman was raped, that child is still as much of a child as if the woman wasn't raped. But if the woman isn't in the place to have a child, and the child's entire existence will be full of suffering, confusion, and regret, maybe it is better that it didn't exist. In my eyes, abortion is murder. In certain situations, that can be justified. But with abortion, it isn't a woman having rights to her body. It's her having rights to murder.

I do agree with some of what you've said, i just don't believe you can call it murder. Up until the point where abortion is no longer viable, ie when the baby can survive on its own, sure because then it is an actual person. But before that it's not developed, it's not a human being, it is a collection of cells. If it was murder then people would go to prison for it.

I think a lot of people here are looking at abortion as if it's an easy decision. For some it is but for others it can be agony but they know they would not be able to give the child a good life and unless someone actually comes up and says i will adopt your baby, what else can they do. Give up nine months of their life on a maybe?

It's not really killing someone if they haven't been born yet... I believe abortion should be legal because there is no child to "kill." Imagine if someone was raped and were forced to have a child, the child would grow up not knowing their father and/or knowing that their father not only raped their mother but may have raped many other women which could cause many problems. Also imagine the mother, every time she would look at her child she would remember the experience and how awful it was which may lead to abusing the child. On that note, if the parents didn't want a child and were forced to have one, the child may end up being abused. Another thing is what if someone forgot to take birth control pills? A tear in a condom? Or if a pregnant woman's spouse/significant other leaves them? And are we forgetting that making abortion illegal will not stop it, it will stop safe abortions. Women will get hurt trying to get an abortion from an inexperienced doctor. So getting an abortion is not killing a person, it is stopping a life before it begins. It is the parent's decision and should be legal.

Literally women give birth everyday. There is a lady right now spreading her legs to spit it out. I know there can be complications. When my mom gave birth to my brother she had the choice to get rid of the child and survive or give birth and let the baby survive. My brother is 21 years old and my mom is 41, healthy and living. I understand that was 20 years ago and technology is different but the handful of women who actually die from giving birth is not a high enough percent then the women who give birth everyday. I get labour pains hurt, I get your stretching your stuff down there however it's 2 days of pain and boomthe child gets a life. A chance to live.

@Phoosey why is it that we pronounce someone dead when their heart stops beating, why don't we pronounce them alive when it starts? It is a child, it never got a chance to live it never got a chance to survive and breath fresh air. The waiting list for kids to be adopted is so long that many families would take that child. The kids that don't get adopted (not all but many) were the ones taken away from their family due to drugs, abuse, etc etc hardly anyone wants to adopt a 10 year old they want the baby that they can raise as their own.

Generalities do not account for individual situations. Of course the death rate is lower than successful births.

Also, I'm pretty sure it's more than 2 days of discomfort.

As my friend said, "I agree with it because it's killing babies but I disagree because it gives women a choice"

    (I'm joking btw, idc)

I have not, but I grew up almost next door to an Christian adoption service, and most of those kids were very unhappy. Did you know that at any one time America has roughly 125,000 kids waiting for adoption, with about 25,000 being adopted every year?

I guarantee you if you went to that adoption place and asked all them kids "would you rather stay living here or allow me to shoot you" 99% of them would say "I want to live here" you know why? Once they are 18 and graduated from school they can go to college, get a job and live a normal life. If more people donated money into the adoption houses instead of the abortion clinics the kids would have a better life.

Another solution: Make adopting a child easier and cheaper. Many people dont adopt because it cost thousandssssssss to adopt them. Make the adoption service cheaper or hey instead of free college how about free adoption services?

It's literally up to 9 months of pain
I guess you could say 8 because the first month has little to no effect on you
but once you hit past the first month, you have sickness, pain, growing, hormone changes, its not like carrying a beach ball in one hand and then throwing it out the window once you've held it for 9 months
You're talking about pregnancy like it is easy in any way and its just a couple days of pain. It 100% is not.

    And additionally..
It's not about if the mother CAN carry the baby or CAN deal with what follows. If I got pregnant today I am more than capable of carrying the baby up to birth. But why the hell would I wanna do that? I don't want a kid, I dont want 9 months of inconvenience and pain and in general unhappiness because of the unwanted mess, and then the child has to be sent away somewhere which I'll be kind of depressed and guilty about regardless of the fact that I 100% don't want the kid, I just don't understand why you would prefer me toss the baby to god knows where, I don't know why you'd prefer a trashy woman toss a kid in a dumpster, I don't know why you want to make a rape victim be reminded of their rape every day up until the birth of this child, and then have to deal with further pains and expenses, whether they keep the child or not.

Why do you want people to be miserable?

If more people donate to abortion clinics there's less crappy lives.
would you rather have 1 crappy life and many collections of cells removed, or many crappy lives.

You want many crappy lives because you want mom to have less rights than dead people and babies be spit out regardless of circumstance, that makes sense

You're giving the mother a crappy life too y'know. It may not be as permanent but you also have to consider the living are more important than the barely existing.

Some women would rather kill themselves than raise a baby.

And please watch and respond to the video I have posted about the unsafe abortions. Because as I have stated many times, you make abortions illegal, they do not stop. Safe abortions stop. So, by this logic, you want more people dead because you want more babies to be "spit out."

Less rights than a dead body. Safe abortions vs. unsafe abortions. A collection of cells die vs a full grown healthy woman.

I don't know why this is a debate.

Well, not necessarily relevant because with an abortion they don't become fully-fledged sentient beings.

    I'd support cheaper/easier adoption.

I do not understand your thought process, this is literally the same reason people support abortion. It costs much more to actually have a child and raise it than it does to adopt a child. Maybe if you can't go through the adoption process you're not financially stable enough to be a parent? The same line of thinking is used for those who abort..

It costs between $5,000 to $10,000 per year to raise a child. The average cost of adoption is between $10,000 and $15,000. If you adopt a child over 4 years old you've already saved money.

It's not exactly outrageously expensive, unlike college tuition which can be $60,000+ per year.

I don't know all too much about the adoption process so I can't comment much on it, but I would assume it has to be rigorous in order to keep any weirdo from being able to get a child.

Edit: Additonally an estimated one million LGBT couples are seeking adoption. You've said you want to prevent them from being able to take a kid out of the foster system just because of their sexual orientation. Do you really think a kid has a worse quality of life with gay parents than in the foster system?
How about you go to a foster house and ask how many kids would rather stay in the system than go to a loving home which happens to have two mommies or two daddies.

If a couple doesn't want to have a baby, then it isn't fair in my opinion for that child to be born already knowing they aren't wanted and led to a harder life than a child deserves. It isn't right to force someone to have a child just because they have a fertilized egg.

Considering having a child will consume your life, it should be up to the people who will need to care for the child. A bystander who doesn't have to care for a child or this child in specific should have no say whatsoever in whether or not someone becomes a parent. And the mom will still have to carry the child for 9 months and go through the pain of labor just to give up the child for adoption according to your logic.

What about overpopulation? Rape? If someone doesn't want to have a child, they shouldn't have to just because they have a fertilized egg.
