Allow me to explain exactly what dungeon was and why it ruined the economy as it was.
In Dumgeon, you would run through a series of tunnels composed of stone brick walls, dirt floors, and leaf doors you could break. It was filled with zombies, skeletons, slimes, creepers, blazes, and witches. In certain rooms, you could find chests that just break when right-clicked. They would drop random items, all dependent on luck. There were basically 2 ways to play it.
- Gameplay
1. Wear solid diamond armor with full enchants, and just tank through hoping you don't get killed by another player.
2. Wear nothing; sure you died a lot, but you could run in, grab loot, tp out.
Simply put, it generated a lot of rare items. Some chests would drop emerald ore (valued at $1500 Meebles each at the time), diamond armor, gold ore, etc.
- How It Ruined the Economy
Dungeon was very fun. It is one of the original reasons I decided to check out towny (to store my loot). I believe it can easily be added back without destroying the economy. Instead of dropping items at random, it should have the same map, but have loot rebalancing. In my opinion, if it only gives mob drops, and "special" items like enchanted iron armor (at best), it could make new players feel like they can make it on the server. Before you all start saying this would kill the iron market, let me just remind you of two things: iron farms, and it's iron armor, not something that can only be made of iron.
