As you may or may not know, I have been playing on a citizen account for about a week. And tbh, it sucks.
To start with, nobody listens to you. Like if there's a debate going on in chat, a citizens opinion is basically never considered. But then if the same thing was to be posted on a ranked account, people automatically start to acknowledge it.
Also, any citizen who wants to get into pvp, might aswell not even bother.
To begin with, a large majority of people who pvp are Elite+, which means if you are good enough to kill them, all the stuff you get is /fix'd. Now yea, you can go fix it with diamonds, but you can fix it like once, if that. Most of the time, going to an anvil with armour that is fully broken after being /fix'd it says "Too Expensive". So instantly, instead of having to buy about 20 diamonds for around 10k, they have to go and buy some brand new armour and sword for like triple that price.
Yes /fix is a very large privilege in donating for Elite, it really doesn't make pvp fair and worth it at all for anyone who doesn't have elite.
And continuing on with the pvp problems, any good pvp'er who is a citizen is basically just going to get called a hacker. I went to kitpvp on my alt (baring in mind I'm not even that good) and was fighting people (mostly donors) and they just kept calling me a hacker. I think I counted about 6 different people hackusating in under 20 minutes. "F off you hacker", "Get lost stupid hacker". I then went on my ranked account and fought the exact same people, and guess what, they didn't say a word.
Like I know pvp isn't a very big part of the server, but still any citzen who wants to be involved in it will probably be scared away from the entire server with these problems.
Additionally, people basically just disrespect Citizens. Like the other day, I was typing in chat "/warp pvp!". Yes it may get annoying, but there really wasn't any need for the countless amounts of people (and let me add, all donors), spamming me to tell me to "shutup" or "get lost you citizen skrub". But then when I type "/warp pvp" on a ranked account, nobody says anything.
I'm not sure on what suggestions/improvements could go along side this but.. it kinda had to be said.

A lot of issues can be traced back to purchased perks, such as /spawner, /fix, etc - However, it's a bit late in the game to begin changing that up, especially when you've spent years advertising those purchases.
Whatever the solution is, it has nothing to do with products I've purchased with US dollars.
"Nerfing" or reducing any perk is akin to digitally buying an album, only to have half the tracks removed a few months later - Unacceptable.CrazyYoungBro, KaiUsesThis, smk and 8 others like this. -

You make some good points, but my opinion slightly differs. What you said that your opinions as a citizen are never being considered, you are 100% true, but I don't believe that it is all because of the rank. I feel that the reason that many times it seems that the ranked people communicate more is because they have been playing longer then citizens and actually know each other and have seen each other around. People who know each other communicate more often, and that is just how people work. The reason I feel this way is from personal experience. I often have global muted, and I don't have a wide circle of friends, so I am very often times neglected in communication or ignored, even though I am of the Supreme rank. But I can't really complain, often there is so much input going on that a person will selectively choose who to listen to, and that person will often be someone they know/have spoken to before. When selectively choosing who to respond to, of course people with colored chats and shiny ranks will stick out more, but that is simply because there is so much going on. If you were to be placed in a one on one scenario, you won't be ignored nearly as much.
As for /fix, you are absolutely correct that citizens (and ranks below Elite) are at a fairly large disadvantage. Even with this in mind, I feel that /fix is a wonderful perk, and something that Elite+ deserve. The Elite rank is nearly 3 times as much as Minecraft itself, if it did come with some serious perks, then it definitely would not be worth it.
As for your rank being an influence on whether or not people believe you are hacking, it is somewhat expected, but is still nonetheless frustrating. I myself am more confident in someone's pvp skills when they have a rank, not because I view citizens as lower beings, but simply because the ranked player has lasted this longer in Meepcraft, so odds are he has not hacked before. Of all the hackers I've seen, I can only recall 1 hacker that actually had a rank, which was VIP. Even so, I highly discourage accusing anyone of hacks for numerous reasons, and your personal experience is disturbing.
Your "/warp pvp" is a wonderful example for consideration. I often question why people with ranks have so many more people caring about their ads and overall chat. It may be as simple as a colored chat catching more people's eye, or that ranked person has many friends, but I have often observed that unknown people do not get the attention they rightfully deserve. Me personally, I am more likely to visit a /pwarp or /tpa if the person is a citizen/new player. They often sell things like overpriced logs, but I buy them. I buy them to support the new player, and allow him to feel like he did something in the economy; since he might even quit the game since he is too often ignored. I personally encourage supporting smaller shops and new players to help them get attached to the economy.
My overall suggestion to everyone is to remember to consider what everyone has to say, not only your friends, or the people who do business well and can you make you the most money. Everyone wants to be included, but too few actually are.CrazyYoungBro, cooey, Toostenheimer and 5 others like this. -
Oh! How about citizens get a rank when they play long enough. Not a donor rank, but just a tag that says Citizen, or Experienced, or whatever thing like that. Maybe for that rank throw in a minor perk, like an additional sethome or something.
That would give nubsicles incentive to play more, and rankies to trust the cits, without them having to donate.Toostenheimer, Bob4444444, LadyCassandra and 4 others like this. -
too be fair, perry, you spent the entire time acting like a troll haha
edit: i suppose the only lesson out of this is to reach out to citizens! sit in spawn and talk to them. let them join your town. it's the most we can doCrazyYoungBro, KaiUsesThis, FatIsNoob and 4 others like this. -

I always said this before; the appearance of the chat makes quite the difference.
You are used to seeing this:
(G/Whatever) [Rank] Name: Text text text
When a citizen talks, it's just this:
(G/Whatever) Name: Bla Bla Bla
Quite frankly, it might just be a "Bla bla bla" 'cos I feel like the absence of a rank tag makes the whole line invalid.
I know, that it theoretically shouldn't, but it does. I see citizens as something "lower", "less worthy", so do you.
I (among many others) have suggested before to give citizens a [Citizen] rank, which I believe would make an even so small difference.
And that's, @shains , the least you can do.CrazyYoungBro, KaiUsesThis, Cherrykit and 2 others like this. -

To be honest, I feel that a cit's problems can be solved with popularity. If I get on my supreme alt account, which only a few people know, I don't get many responses either because no one knows who brownie000 is.
Let's look at some recent citizens - @Glambert_Girl and @Fortemizuki . They were both citizen and yet very popular. They both have a forums account and are semi active and talked a lot in shout. They got a lot more recognition than a 'normal' citizen. (they aren't cits anymore but they were very recently.)
Problems by simply being cit, aren't simply from being cit. They're from the community not knowing them and therefore not caring even half as much.
We should care about every citizen, but consider the above if you're a citizen and want more recognition. Become more popular and make friends. Get a forums account. Hang out with people. Let people get to know you.sicklynerd, Toostenheimer, LadyCassandra and 1 other person like this. -
