As many of you may know, I am Cyber_Punk_ and I have been playing on this server since 2012. I left the server and devoted my time to other things, in hopes to return to an improved community. However, to my most absolute heartbreak - I came back to an empty chat with the void of no presence. A chat that makes you have to test whether there is lag or not, due to the utter silence. Now, I hate pointing out the negatives in the server because, well, the server has never fallen to the low it is now. The server has never disappointed me to the extent it has now, and I hate to say it but I think if anyone disagrees - you are facing a sad denial.

The reason I am making this is not to gain attention. It is not the put down a server I don't play any more, it is not my place to state what needs to change because I do not have a say.
When I became staff, I had hopes of making a difference, of somewhat contributing my thoughts and ideas to the team so that an implementation could be placed. I cannot begin to fathom out the reasons as to why nothing has been changed when a clear fall has taken place. The current standards of the server are not the standards they should be at. And please, do not get me wrong, the server is still great but the community isn't. And although you cannot control the intentions nor actions of a community - nor can you control the activity. However, you can control the influx and you can change things to allow for a better communication, you can change things to allow for some sort of dedication and activity. You cannot implement further additions to the server without a player base. If there is no demand, there shouldn't be any stock - and that is exactly what the server is doing. Sure people love infected, of course people love pvp, and yes people play towny. But, why would you expect this to bring in players when there is no foundation? How can you expect people to talk in the chat when there will be no reply? The community is filled with colored titles next to names. There is no welcoming nor simple step to getting into the server for new players. Yes, the spawn in spectacular, it's immaculate to say the least but do you really expect a community to magnetize towards a spawn if there is no presence or simplicity? I won't name names but I joined another server a while ago and I cannot begin to explain how simple everything is. How simple the spawn is and how easy it is just to pick up on how to play. People are stubborn, people do not read to learn, they read to reply and that is exactly what this server expects. I am not saying change the whole server or just remove everything, no, not at all what I am saying. What I am suggesting is something simpler and yet far more effective. But at the same time the simplicity of this will most definitely have hate, but hear me out for a second.

So my suggestion is resetting the server. And I know just from this comment, half of you will throw a fit and complain about it not being possible and find every single possible negative impact this could have but really, what is there to lose? Through the years I have been apart of this community, I have seen more names return than leave after a reset. Sure you will lose people but the gains will be far far more. Do a relaunch, send out a mass email. Unban people. And I know for a fact just from me saying unban people - there will be an uproar of criticism but why are you fearful of something that could easily assist the community? Yes there are people who have been rightly banned and I would never in a million years consider them a space on the server but people do change. People learn from their mistakes. There will always always be "crime" or an injustice that will be provoked by certain people but that's why there is staff. When I was staff, I could care less about who I had to deal with because that was my job and I voluntarily signed up for it with no benefits. Yes it will be a lot of work but you as the staff are here to make a change and improve what you can, aren't you? And if you doubt this statement or insist on it being "too much admin and too much work" - Leave the staff team. No attitude like that should be an attitude from a staff member. I know for a fact there will be every reason not to let people back onto the server but how can you know without trying? How can you pass judgements and assumptions without having pure evidence that it will happen. Just reset the server. The economy needs a drastic change and the rich only get richer and the poor have no chance. I can't tell you how many people probably feel as though there is no room for them because there is no changes in the economy.

I have so much more to say about this and suggest the possibilities but if you will take anything out of this - understand that sometimes simplicity is the most valuable worth, complexity is in no way comparable to the simple. Maybe you are afraid of change and losing everything and sure you can't repeat the past and expect 2012 to just return. However, you got to where you are somehow, right? You improved and gained what you have through time and through starting from scratch like the rest of us. And you most definitely can change things to improve on the past and have an improved future. Maybe this thread is nothing but something you will read and pass over, or something that people will only disagree with but I know and I am sure you will all know in the back of your minds, behind the surface of your denial - you will have similar thoughts. And sorry but a reset is in order. Disagree if you want, I am not making this to change your opinion nor attempt to change your mindset but just consider it. Consider simplicity and the easiness of recreating something into a far better state.

I did, and that is why most people who leave staff do - It's too much work for a volunteer force to legitimately want to do for any length of time. The people who end up being staff for prolonged periods of time just don't play the game anymore.

Simply put, the server is how it is for the same reason as there always has been; half measures.

A reset isn't viable, that's the best way to lose a majority of the paying players.

 

^ It's also part: Argue until your mad for small changes that are logical and beneficial, lol.

- The answer it seems is to avoid spending thousands on advertisements, and new spawns until the games you host have content. Keep updating the game-modes, adding content, to keep your regular players here, and attract new ones. Doesn't matter how pretty your apple is when you're selling the same apples everyone else is. Get a better apple.

 

I do agree with you when it comes to that resetting the server would solve a lot of issues, but I think of that as more of a last option kinda deal. It would fix a lot of issues and I am sure of that, but I think that the thing we need to get done is to make it so that people that has a lot of money has something to spend that money on. And then make it so that the money flow will be redirected to the people that do the work in wild. This would also create a flow up towards the richer players, the reasons for this is that when the money moves more around in the economy it can make it so that it is easier to make money. But you also have something to spend it on. This would create a outflow of money and a inflow of money. Almost like the state invests money in to the community and by doing so the money moves in to a company and then the company gets taxed. It is a circle we need to improve because right now the circle ends after buying the Ultimate rank.

On the other hand I do disagree with unbanning Everyone, the main reason for this is that there are players that can never learn. We base this of people that we have given so many chances that they shouldn't be allowed back. These players have just come on to troll the server and they still are. We try to be fair with everyone, and give everyone a chance. But when they have gotten several chances and by that I mean unbans from permbans. Then I think that the people that are just running around being toxic and making it so that people that come on the server to have fun doesn't have fun, well then I think that these people shouldn't get anymore chance. We are here to have fun and relax, at least that is what I am here for.

Because they spend the money?

And guess what - A reset won't bring in new players much longer than the thousand dollar ads, the $5000 spawn. Point of the story - Nothing short of substance within the games itself is going to bring players around, the ones the server needs to be successful.

Paying some stupid kid youtuber $2000 to show up for a video, bringing along hundreds of players for a week, and never seeing them again.

Like, don't you see it doesn't work? - The server has tried this about a million times, and every single time it hasn't worked.

Perhaps the answer is stop wasting time on stupid aesthetics, and spend thousands of dollars putting in substance to the games, and more importantly, making TOWNY (You know, the one mini-game most people donate for) a custom experience for new players - So you can begin to leech them off other servers, by the simple fact that your game-mode is better.

The server's decline began as SOON as MeepCraft tried to be a hub server, with MN, and for the most part here.

I mean, I've been saying this since I was admin - MAKE A CUSTOM TOWNY WORLD - GET CREATIVE - INVEST IN YOUR BUSINESS - The one thing that brings in the majority of donations is an off-the-shelf plugin that barely differs than any other server out there. I can play your towny game-mode on any other server, with MORE players.

The answer is: STOP BEING THE 20TH PLACE TO SELL HAMBURGERS - BE THE FIRST PLACE TO SELL BACON CHEESEBURGERS.

 

You came back on at like 2 am my time. What did you expect?

Also today is Wednesday a school day for most kids. Why would kids be on an mc server at 2 am?

 

We're getting lots of new players, but the majority of them don't stay because reading signs is hard.

 

In my opinion one of the main current issues is the amount of techs we have. Techs are really hard to recruit because it takes skills that people out there are paying for. Also it is about trusting another person with access to the server files. The damage a tech can do to the server is insane and that is why changes take a lot of time to make. Our techs are really good at what they do but if you look on trello you can see what they are dealing with. There are things that they are currently fixing and that makes it so that other things has to wait. + with the client updates getting released soon they are going to have to update a bunch of plugins on top of the work on trello.

I am saying this because we do look in to what everyone says on the forums but we can't do everything by just snapping of our fingers. We try to make changes and push them true but sometimes it is not enough. To be honest in my opinion something needs to go, if we want meepcraft to have a stable economy and a flowing economy sacrifices will have to be made.

 

I actually feel that there are two ways to fix this. However, both of them involve a certain owner actually interacting with a certain community.

• Reset the server

Yes, I feel that this would help greatly. When I say to reset the server I mean to reset towns and meebles as well. This would fix the overall eco because it is literally starting from scratch but without the past exploitations like netherrack affecting the eco. However, this won't fix meep's greatest drawback.

• Shut down almost all minigames

This is meep's greatest flaw right here. Meep isn't a hub, so why is it trying to be one? I remember meep worked best when it had only meep colonies and then maybe spleef. If this server's main selling point is towns, than why are we dropping cash on new minigames? Even at that, if they are gonna keep the "hub but not really" idea, than they should fix the games they already have *cough* CTF *cough*.

 

There are a lot of reasons as to why I left the server. What you said explained was my whole thought process, along with other personal reasons. I will comeback if there is a reset. I want my meebles gone, and I want my rank removed.
When you have EVERYTHING, the game sucks. There is nothing fun to do, and nothing to work towards. I loved the game when I had first joined, when I had nothing, and I enjoyed working my way up the ladder. For the people who join today, there is no good way for them to go up the ladder, or at least no fun way. I was thinking of just throwing away my meebles, and never playing on my ultimate account every again. I experimented, and started to play on my regular account, and have a fresh start. I got bored in the first 15 minutes.
People are saying that people will leave when there is a reset. Well I can already smell the BS. Most of you guys devote half your fricken lives to this server, and I highly doubt that you just gonna leave. This is what you gonna do:

The next day...
Comes home from school, after thinking about the meepcraft reset all day, sits down in front of the computer. "I said I would never play meepcraft again. I already gave my attention speech, and I said hated it, and it sucks, and all that jazz... Im going to go to a different server"
The next day or two...
"This server sucks... I miss meepcraft... I think I might just go on and see what's up.."Sees that everything is reset, tries out a few things... " Well, why not I just give it a shot, and see if still good" Realizes, that this gives him memories back when he/she was a new player, and understand how much he/she enjoyed the game. He/she realizes what the whole main reason as to why he joined the server in the first place, and decides to stay with it, and starts to play all night long
After 15 hours of playing and gather materials, the old meepcrafter, is once again addicted to the game!

If this server was reset, and I lost my Ultimate rank and town, I would quit. But I guess that's what your going for, right?
