When did you join Meepcraft? 20th September 2014
Introduction: Hello, I’m SpongeyStar, a 14 year old girl from New Zealand. Most of you know me by now, so I’ll keep my introduction short and sweet for those who don’t. I’m in my 10th year of school. My favourite subjects include Robotics, Maths, English and physical education. I enjoy playing Badminton and basketball. I’m the sort of happy person, finding myself never that angry. Outside school I massively enjoy playing the piano. I am capable of playing Fur Elise and recently started learning to play The Entertainer and Scarborough Fair. I don’t have anyone teaching me, I just teach myself.
As you can see by my name, I’m a huge fan of Spongebob Squarepants. People may think why a 14 year old is still loving Spongebob, but I’m telling you there are older people who still love Spongebob too. Never let anyone put you off liking something.
Why should you be Helper? You may be thinking ‘This girl is soooo not patient and keeps applying for staff’ or ‘She’s too needy for staff’ etc. Well this time, I’ve waited a few weeks. I feel I’ve improved on all the things you’ve told me to improve on and if I haven’t I persist to. I’ve been writing this application for a few days hoping I’ve shown why I do deserve to be back on the team.
I joined Meepcraft in late september, 2014. I was a fan of parkour and was trying to find a good parkour server. Other servers I’ve been on felt too chaotic and when I tried to talk no one really helped me. When I joined Meep I found out there was parkour, and the chat was not as chaotic. It felt like this was the server I am going to be on for a long time. I then discovered towny in Meep, and joined a town in alpha (Owned by xtjunior) I knew this was the right server. Xt was very welcoming, and very soon I learnt lots of helpful commands such as /g and /msg.
‘Work before play is what they always say’
When I was previously staff, I never did the job well. I was using shout more than /done and didn’t take the job seriously as I was suppose to. I’ve had staff tell me I needed to do the modreqs before play. Otherwise it was no use of me being helper. This time, I’ve recollected the information about what I’ve done wrong and improved. If I do get accepted this time I will make sure I do not go about parkouring, building or talking to my friends before I do modreqs. The community has many new players coming in and I don’t want them feeling like they are ignored.
‘Dreams don’t work unless you do’
In school, I am doing the Duke of Edinburgh Hilary Award. This is an award run by the DoE trust that aims at young people to live life to the fullest. The award is split into 4 sections: Service, skill, physical recreation and adventurous journey. In skill you have to learn something 1 hour a week, in service you have to do good to the community 1 hour a week, physical you have to do some sort of sport 1 hour a week and adventurous journey you go on an overnight camp learning how to pitch a tent, use stovetops and survive in the wilderness. I just started this year and already am feeling better of myself. I feel I’m more capable to go past my limits; I didn’t think I’d be able to take a hike up a very steep mountain for 2 hours then back down, but I did. Motivation plays a big part in this award; if you aren’t motivated you won’t feel good and you’ll just be put off. (I recommend you guys doing it, search it up.) On the other hand, I recently got my school report back. It was very pleasing and I was proud of myself. I got 3rd in my class for English which was a big improvement from last year. I always dreamed about me getting good scores in class, and it happened. I also entered a Robocup competition with my friends for school and we surprisingly gained 1st place, heading to nationals. We had our ups and downs but together we made it work. We knew we had to get the robot working in time only if we worked together; and we did. Working in the staff team is a team work. If you are working yourself you won’t get the joy out of it. If you work as a team, you will learn and become more cooperative. I am a very hard working student and achieve great scores in exams. I may sound like I’m boasting but in actual fact it helps motivation.
‘A champion is someone who gets up even if they can’t’
I make sure I get on MeepCraft everyday. With school starting soon, I’ll be on less at the peak Meep times. When it’s 7pm for me, there aren’t many staff on and there are people asking questions in shout. I try my best to help them. Also, if I’m not in game, I’m on forums. I’m constantly checking forums whether it’s checking alerts, liking comments or just browsing. As for teamspeak I’m not a frequent user on it. I’ve written about teamspeak in the weaknesses section below.
‘Wake up with determination, go to bed with satisfaction’
I’ve been on MeepCraft for 10 months. Within those months I’ve been here, never quit. I passionately love this server and hope to continue through the server achieving great things. I try my hardest to make this server a better place; reporting players and telling people to follow rules, and if I fail, I persist to continue and improve.
‘The only source of knowledge is experience’
As you may know I was helper before. Within that time I made sure I learnt the most I could. Prism is a very tricky part to learn, we can all agree on that. In my spare time I use to just look on google about prism commands to just refresh my knowledge. If I do become helper again I will be less stressed, knowing the commands and such.
What are your weaknesses? I’m don’t care what people think of me, I am telling you all my weaknesses so I can show you I am improving.
Shyness/Teamspeak: Mostly all of you probably never seen me on teamspeak. My parents don’t really allow me on it, I respect their opinion. If I am on it, I do listen into conversations and try to participate by chat. If I were home alone a few times, I try to say a few words but they don’t come out. Once I did say ‘Hi’ a few days and I felt like I was gaining confidence. If I do pop in teamspeak for atleast 5 minutes I feel I will overcome my shyness.
Too independent: When I was helper, I didn’t feel like asking for help if I needed it. I wanted staff to see I’m responsible and capable that I didn’t need help, when I actually did. If I did ask for help things would’ve gone a lot smoother. Next time I need help I will put my voice out and get the help; nobody’s perfect.
Immaturity: Yeah. I’m immature and I know it. Being a 14 year old most people think I am 12 since I’m immature. I need to stop saying ‘pls’ and ‘i cri’ and act like a 14 year old. If you met me in real life I won’t be as immature. I’m always immature on the internet, don’t know why. If I do find myself in an immature situation I will tell myself ‘Do people really want to see this community having immature staff? No.’
Bias - I have many good friends on this server and it’s hard to say no to them. But sometimes you just gotta get things right and prove your point. When I was staff I did kick a friend once or twice for swearing; I need to let it go and tell myself I’ll get no where if I’m too nice to my friends.
Please give any other information you might think is useful for us to know: If I were given the opportunity of being helper again I’ll make sure I don’t crush it. I will do all modreqs before play. Thank you in advance for all the feedback, and I hope you take this application into consideration.
