Steins;Gate (a must watch)
Clannad (Makes you cry everytime)
Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica (This may look girly but it's really dark)
Code Geass (Mech suits and lots of people dying. Just a blast to watch)

Of course, I think most, if not of them, are rated R (mostly because of gore)
