MeepCraft is at it again. Making things bigger and better.

The warp issue in Parkour was fixed (big thank you to Dblosevn)

We also added a brand new map (Thanks to andrewrobins)

The new Parkour map "Chill Room" is by far one of the greatest builds on the server. It is a very challenging map so be prepared to work at making all 16 of the checkpoints (1,500 meebles each) and finishing with a 25,000 meeble prize.

 

tl;dr:

MeepCraft is one of the first Minecraft servers on a stable 1.7.2 release.

Good job. You've made team fighting useless, as people can no longer hide who has the lowest health. People can now focus down who has the lowest health and ruins the whole point of strategy.

But hey, at least you can see pretty icons!

 

Today I closed staff applications.

We are spending a little bit of time refocusing our staff team and getting everyone trained and to a more stable position. We are in a good position and happy with the direction but just need to get our heads focused on the more important issues.

We WILL be accepting apps in the near future but for now, If you want to apply save your application and work on it.

 

Effective immediately:
"Rei's Minimap is now an illegal modification (along with Zan's Minimap, VoxelMap, and others) because it can include an entity radar. This gives players who use these minimaps an unfair advantage over others, and unfortunately, we can't allow it anymore. Please uninstall this modification as soon as possible.

We are actively looking for an alternative map for player to be able to use, please share maps you know of that would fall within MeepCraft's policy so that we can review them.

A lot has happened in the last two weeks - some Meepers had some pretty cool things planned for summer, and so here we are to show you a few Meepers in action! This week we grabbed @Melchior_Dahrk, Chopy10, @jmw4 , and special guest @nhjed!

What is your favourite biome's grass colour?

“I love the bright green one. It reminds me of Minecraft four years ago when all grass was bright green and there was no hunger bar or horses or bats or mobs with armor or creative mode or ... you catch my drift?”


Which era was your favourite Meep Era and why?

“I'm going to be a stereotypical old Meepcrafter here and say Old Meepcraft. The player count didn't even matter; the fact that back then we were a giant family, and the fact that Capture the Flag at the time was probably the most fun it's ever been, made the game a thousand times more enjoyable. I have extreme nostalgia from that period, and I wish many of the new players could've experienced it.”


What does 'nhjed' mean, if anything?

“‘nhjed’ doesn't have a meaning specifically (I literally just smashed my keyboard and voila) but I'm trying to think of a meaning because why not?”


What led you to become one in the art of Mudkip?

“I'm in love with mudkip. Swampert was my first ever level one hundred pokemon I raised from scratch 7 years ago, so the mudkip evolutionary line really hooked on me. Except marshtomp, it's really ugly.”


Do you believe that your ears get larger as you grow older, and that they never stop growing?

“That would be cool if my ears never stopped growing, but I'm 14 right now so my ears are really tiny, so I wouldn't know lmaoo”

“Probably the sound of breaking wood.”

“All though I haven't really learned anything from playing minecraft, I'd say that what I gained from it was amazing friends that are supportive not only in game, but in real life as well.”

“Gothic and Medieval. (Usually like to add something magical in there)”

Hello friends,

On Tuesday December 29th at 5:30pm EST we held a town hall meeting with Fuzzlr and a number of other staff members regarding the concerns the community had. Here are the main points we addressed:

• The new spawn
• Holiday unbanning
• Recent resignations
  
• Towny additions
• Minigames
• Stock Market
• Dungeon
• Bugs

To ensure this info is relayed to the rest of the community, @iMelXP took notes of the meeting and summarized it for me to highlight the main points. Below you'll find notes regarding each topic.

New Spawn

Concern: The design.
Response: The old spawn's layout had little ease of access and new players found it difficult to locate all of its features. Upon joining, they will first go through the tutorial then spawn at the center of the spawn with all the warps clearly labeled. Other attractions such as the donor lounge, donor shop, bank, spleef, and airship are all localized within the same distance of each other. Aesthetic improvements have been made and will continue to occur over the next few weeks. There are plans to add other attractions for our players as well.

Concern: The cost.
Response: The rumor the spawn cost the server $5000 is false. It was under $3000 which not only included the spawn by Blockworks (Hydraxus), but also a contract with them for more building in the future. Even with regard to the cost, it is thwarted compared to the budget for advertising and development.

Concern: How does the spawn increase player retention and donations?
Response: By creating a spawn that is easy to navigate, new players are able to find each attraction without any problems. With a confusing spawn, players will most likely not spend time on the server. Player retention automatically translates into donations.

Holiday Unbanning

Concern: Why?
Response: As a gift to players we gave people who had minor offenses a second chance at belonging on the server. Some with greater offenses were allowed as well, but all ban history is still taken into account. When one of these players commits an offense it will be weighed with their history in mind. Most players have proved they are happy to be back and haven't committed any more offenses. Those who have were dealt with accordingly.

Recent Resignations

Concern: What's happening?
Response: The holiday unbanning, Fuzzlr explained, was rushed to get it done for the holidays. There was little communication to the rest of the staff team, especially the administrative team, in this process. There was also concern within the staff team in general about the flow communication between Fuzzlr and the rest of the team as well with high staff and low staff. The holiday unbanning problem caused two high rank staff members to resign along with the communication problems. @XChaosZeroX has returned after a long discussion about how Fuzzlr plans to improve this situation. Fuzzlr admits fault and will be open for more communication to the entire staff team. The whole team is now encouraged to personally message Fuzzlr with any concerns when that option wasn't apparent previously. Additionally, the supermods have extended communication to the lower staff encouraging them to speak with us about any concerns.

In that same vein, the community is encouraged to continue to use the numerous channels of communication for concerns about staff or server development. Suggestions (for big development), modreqs (for immediate concerns), forum messages to supermods or the Staff Comment section (for positive/negative feedback on staff members), and even Fuzzlr's personal skype (username: fuzzlr) are a number of ways to address any concerns.

Towny additions

Concern: Are there any plans on updating towny even to a custom plugin?
Response: @DBLOSEVN has made a number of custom additions to our towny plug-in as well as bug fixes that were inherent to the plug-in itself. There are plans to continue development, but the details of which are not quite ironed out. Here is the master Trello card that has numerous additions both completed and uncompleted that we hope one day to develop as Towny is our main attraction.

Minigames

Concern: Halo.
Response: Development for Halo is still in progress to make it 100% custom. The previous version only had a small portion of custom code. However, it WILL be back, we have no plans to keep it down as it is our most successful minigame. In this same discussion, the value of Laser (being so similar) was discussed but no decision will be made until the development of Halo is completed. Laser discussion will continue upon Halo's release, but we have no date for this.

Stock Market

Concern: Is it coming back?
Response: The exploitation of the stock market spawned in millions of meebles and we were forced to remove it to investigate how to resolve it. Unfortunately, we see no resolution to the exploitation bug despite our best efforts. If it is to be 100% removed, all stocks will be able to be sold at the price they were purchased at so no one will lose money. Additionally, a similar venue will be introduced with the hopes to have regulation but still the same enjoyment. For now, we are unsure about the nature of it, but discussions of the gold exchange were brought back.

Dungeon

Concern: Is it coming back?
Response: Dungeon will be returning when all of the bugs are ironed out. Numerous people were randomly dying, the random portal didn't always work and people were camping, permissions were not accurate, and people inventories were disappearing. Hopefully we get this resolved as soon as possible.

Bugs

Concern: Why not hire more techs?
Response: At this time we are not really in a place to hire more techs, but that is not to say we are in a bad place. @DBLOSEVN offers a lot of his time to us and fixes a number of bugs as you can monitor on our Trello. Fuzzlr also agreed to offer more time for development on his end in hopes to further development.

Thanks for everyone who attended the meeting and asked questions. We hope we answered some of your concerns and that we can have another town hall again soon. As stated already, all three supermods, myself (@shains), @Deljikho, and @XChaosZeroX are available for any discussion and Fuzzlr's personal skype (username: fuzzlr) is available as well.

Ginger's town, butterland. I like helping people as a comayor and it's been up for a really long time.

Shout out to GingermanOWNS, he's really funny. I like PeriHeika too, she's the coolest cat on the block. I also love xMetzy, junelawnchair, Cooleysworld, cityisfan, and BooBear. I have more friends but these are my favorite.


3. When you grow up, what job would you like to have?
I would like to be either a business man or a police officer.

New Additions/Changes

Towny Fall Prevention
Towns now cost 250k to create, but 50k is automatically deposited into the town’s bank to prevent premature town deaths.

Halo Improvements
-Grenades no longer work within 15 blocks of spawn
-Four seconds of immunity upon joining.
-Chat filter added
-Added notification when spawn protection is lost due to attack.
-Afk flag removed if you fire or throw a grenade in Halo

Parkour Improvements
Pressure plates replaced the glitchy coal blocks.


Bugs Squashed!
-Fixed bug when more than one player uses coin trader at a a time in Halo.
-Spleef Arena #3 no longer spawns one in the ground.

If you were an animal, what animal would you be and why?
“I would be a wolf, because I think they are the most mystical animals. In ways I think life would be much simpler as a wolf, there is a natural order to things and everything else would just be instinct.”

Who was your all time favorite staff member and why?
“Alien_Venom for sure. He would always chat with me when he was staff, unlike a lot of the other admins way back when. He was the one who accepted my staff application, and was also the one who trained me after that. He would always answer any questions I had, or help me with any problems while I was staff. I really looked up to him before and even after I was staff.”


How would you describe MeepCraft in one word?
“Community.”

Do you feel that meepcraft is what enabled your relationship to become what it is today? If so, what activities that Meepcraft offered allowed the both of you form such a strong relationship? (Joint answer from @PhoenixPuppy and @metr0n0me)
“Towny helped me create just about all of my friendships, mainly because you get to know the people you live in the town with. A lot of it is built on teamwork, working to build the town, working together to get materials or trading them, helping new players by giving them materials and a town to stay in.”
