Great edition, love the focus on parkour and as I already mentioned, absolutely awesome job with Airport by all the involved parties.

To answer your question; the best parkour course is undeniably Flowers... just pure genius of a design and mind-blowing parkour obstacles. I very much doubt there's anything even remotely close. (no bias here whatsoever)

Right, all jokes aside. I really loved the old Slicks ice parkour. It was simple enough to not get irritating (due to repetition or unnecessary length), but still very much challenging by going without a pause (bunny-hopping through).

From the courses we have now, I would have to choose Ultimate City. It's a nice entry level parkour every one can try and get instant gratification by completing the first few levels (checkpoints) and it also teaches a thing or two going forward to higher checkpoints. I love to think for it as an example on how level design should work in games in general, not just parkour courses. However, it's still crucial for intermediate and difficult courses to exist to cater to all players... props to Chillroom here

See, I love the update. I've wanted the server to update ever since 1.9 came out. I appreciate all the work that has been put in to the Update, Gamma, new spawn, the quests, Skywars, and all the rest. However, several friends of mine have quit because of it, because they still feel like it was a reset. I think things would've gone much more smoothly if it had been delayed another week, and the A/B Wild and Shop had released right with the update. It really does feel like A/B were cut off, which is just a prolonged reset. I'm happy that the Wild was released and the shop is being worked on, but I'd like to see updates to A/B that aren't just fixes. Many thanks to everyone who has worked on these projects, because while this kinda seems like a rant, I still love the update, overall.

Hey Meep

Just a little update and review !

We have some exciting news to bring, and that is we are collaborating with the community and this week Mr 'I change my name every other week' LJ has brought us a new parkour map called 'Neverland!'. This map comes complete with a dropper style format!

The parkour will be placed in the 'Easy' category and will come with a 7,000 Meeble prize!
The map is now active and ready to play straight away!

Last Sunday we hosted another Event, which proved hugely popular!

The Event was called Buzz Trivia and was a multi choice quiz.

We hope you all enjoyed the holiday season and had a wonderful New Years Eve / Day. Welcome to 2021!

Meep is currently down for server maintenance and upgrades. We are working to bring you all a better Meep experience as we move away from 1.12 on Lilypad to 1.16 on BungeeCord. Servers and player data are being backed up, after which we will begin work on changing world files to 1.16 and bringing these worlds into a BungeeCord environment. We will then need to do initial testing to make sure everything is good to go for players to join us again.

We do not currently have an ETA as there are some unknowns in this new territory we are adventuring into. In the meantime, we'd love for you to join us here on forums and on our official Discord to engage in conversations and some fun while we wait for Meep to come back. We will continue to send out information on this update in both locations, on this thread and in #server-announcements on Discord.

Blacksmith Perk
Blacksmith now has a level 100 perk! You can now create unbreaking V books using a anvil.

The head database has been updated! Husk, Zombie villager, skelton horse, zombie horse, mule, polar bear, parrot, llama, vex, vindicator, shulker, illusioner, elder guardian, stray, endermite, and evoker heads now exist

MeepTimes Contests
In this section, the community will get a chance to participate in a quick contest in each MeepTimes! The Project: Valley!


What is Valley?
Valley is a new parkour map which is going to be added this weekend! The map was originally built by Draqq and has been modified so it will be possible to complete. The map is going to be categorized as hard and moves you through a scenic valley into the nether and the end and then finishes at a strangely familiar tree monster.


Who was involved in this project?

• @Midnight_Galaxy was the lead on this project and worked hard to ensure the map was enjoyable!

What was it like working on this project?

Working on this project was extremely cool, it was my first parkour project in a while and it was nice to be able to contribute to the server. When clue found the map and showed it to me I was really excited to begin the process of ensuring the map was doable at all stages. - @Midnight_Galaxy

My side of the load was mostly complete to begin with. Draqq had already done an amazing job creating the map, and it’s a shame it wasn’t released sooner. Finding the map was a bit of a surprise, as I was simply exploring one of the old architect worlds while compressing files to save server storage space. After that, I simply showed it to Mid for the parkour team to work on. - @CluelessKlutz


Did you enjoy working on this project?

Absolutely, I always love working with the technical side of things. The entire process, even troubleshooting, is incredibly enjoyable. - @CluelessKlutz

I really enjoyed working on this map, even though the majority was completed and built by Draqq it was nice being able to incorporate small ideas and able to work on a fun little addition. - @Midnight_Galaxy


What was your role in assisting Midnight in this map?

My astounding parkour skills make me the perfect candidate to test any parkour map. After all, if I can do it, anyone else should be more than able to. In addition to being the guinea pig, it is also my responsibility to implement the technical aspects of the course. - @CluelessKlutz


How do you feel about the progress Parkour, in general, is making on Meep?

Over the last year, I feel that we have made tremendous progress in updating parkour into the future. We’ve added the new hub, Airport, Grotto, and now Valley. Updates to the technical aspect as well have also assisted in significant progress. - @CluelessKlutz

I feel parkour is moving in the right direction for the server, new maps are being added some worked on and prizes are being modelled around the ever-changing servers economy. I feel having a balance between easy, medium and hard maps is something I feel we are progressing towards. - @Midnight_Galaxy


What is something fun you can share with us about working on this project?

Finishing testing was the most relieving part just so I wouldn’t have to do any more parkour. - @CluelessKlutz

Honestly working on the entire project was fun but I would have to say the highlight was watching clue attempt the jumps, and get so ragey he would edit the course…. - @Midnight_Galaxy


Is there anything else you would like to add?

The only thing I would like to add is that I hope those who try this parkour don’t rage too hard and to come to me if you feel some sections could be changed in any way, I am open to all suggestions! - @Midnight_Galax

What attracted you to Meep when you first joined?
I stayed around because I was really bored, but then I grew to love the towny gamemode.

How do you spend your time on Meep?
Working on Sunbreak, where I’m a co-mayor, building weird, clue-based games, doing mod things, and chillin.

How’s it like being the co-mayor of a new, growing town?
Hmm. It’s awesome. I love planning and expanding our town, really shaping it and making it unique as we go along. It’s the type of thing I love towny for.

How does it differ from being co-mayor in your previous town?
There’s a big difference from my previous town, Polartown, where I was also a co-mayor. I really feel more free to do stuff in Sunbreak, and I enjoy doing it more.

Now, about that game. How did you come up with that in the first place?
Now I’m special that way.

If you really want to hear about how it started, it’s remarkably uninteresting. Clue was messaging somebody some jobs equation or something, but did a wc and put it into global. So I said “7”, as if I was giving an answer to it. Someone else said “6”, and a third said “3”. So I said 763. And then I just started to repeat that in global every so often.

How did it go from being a number to a complicated clue game?
It’s hard to say this without revealing the answer to the first clue. I decided to put something at 763 in the wild, and just kept repeating the number over and over in global every once in a while, in hopes that someone would find it eventually, and I’d give em a cookie or something. But then I was like, nobody’s gonna get that, I’ve got to tell them to look for it.

Now, speaking of revealing clues, what’s the answer to clue #14?
The answer to clue 14 is written on subway walls, and tenement halls and whispered in the sounds of silence.

Pretty cool. Get to interact with some pretty cool people, work on some pretty cool stuff. And you get a pretty cool chat color. All in all, pretty cool.

People used to laugh at me when I told them I wanted to be a comedian, but nobody’s laughing now.

So, who’s the pretty coolest of them all?
Hard to say. Qazini sure smells the worst.

What’s the story behind your name?
The story behind my name is for another time. A time when the people of Meepcraft’s collective, feeble mind has advanced far enough to comprehend it. A time when you deserve it. A time when you petty mortals have changed and become worthy, because no matter how far you advance in technology, in power, you still hate each other, lie to each other, kill each other. Consciousness is self-deception. 763 is a game.

Whoops, went all clue 14 on you, sorry.

What do you do outside of Meep?
I go to school. Learn. I fence three times a week. I also play the piano

Interesting. How many people have you killed while fencing?
Well, killing is technically against the rules.
Moving on.

Hello everyone! This is the first of a new format I am currently testing out to provide more detailed explanations of updates and raise awareness of the changes on the server. With that in mind, let's get into it.

Towny​

The entirety of Towny has been updated. The following changes have been made.

• Messages

The majority of towny messages have been updated to be more visually appealing.

• Bonus Plots

You can now purchase individual bonus plots in order to increase the maximum your town can claim. Using "/t buy bonus [amount]" will buy the defined number of bonus plots for 5,000 Meebles each. This exists separate from Nation Bonuses. You may purchase up to 250 bonus plots at this time.

• Town Titles & Levels

Towny ranks and titles now follow this chart:

1. Hamlet, Hermit (Mayor), 1 resident required
2. Settlement, Leader (Mayor), 2 residents required
   
3. Village, Chief (Mayor), 5 residents required
   
4. Town, Archduke (Mayor), 10 residents required
   
5. Large Town, Duke (Mayor), 15 residents required
   
6. City, Deputy Mayor (Mayor), 25 residents required
   
7. Large City, Mayor (Mayor), 50 residents required
   
8. Metropolis, Lord (Mayor), 75 residents required
   
9. Megapolis, Emperor (Mayor), 100 residents required

• Taxes

By default, all towny staff ranks now pay taxes except VIP. This means even mayors will pay taxes unless they have this town rank. This has been added to allow for more flexibility for towns to work with.

You can also now set a price to teleport to your town spawn with /t set spawncost.

• Ranks

A new nation rank has been added! The "Lord" rank has access to:

1. Nation Titles
2. Nation Broadcast
3. Inviting Towns to a Nation
4. Kicking Towns from a Nation
5. Granting Nation Ranks
6. Managing Nation Relations

• Outposts

Outposts can now be named! By setting a plot's name with /plot set name [name], using /t outpost [name] will take you to an outpost with that name.

• Nation Spawns and Boards

Nations now have the ability to set their own spawnpoint anywhere within their capitol city. They may also set a board message.

Jobs​

Multiple jobs have been adjusted, as well as changes to perks.

• Adventurer Level 50 Perk

The Lvl 50 Adventurer has been added as permanent fire resistance.

• Digger Lvl 100 Perk

The Lvl 100 Digger has been added as permanent haste.

• Vein Miner Adjustment

Vein miner now increases the amount mined per break as you level up more.

• Digger Adjustments

Gravel now pays the same as sand for the digger job. The Exp formula has also been increased to be more difficult.

General Economy​

• Parkour

Parkour Prizes have been buffed to as follows:

1. Jungle - 7500
2. Grotto - 8000
3. Cactus - 10000
4. Balloon - 12000
5. Flower - 14000
6. Airport - 17000
7. City - 20000
8. Stronghold - 20000
9. Countryside - 20000
10. Chillroom - 35000

• Boomo

Boomo prizes have been buffed to 5000.

• Halo

Halo TDM's prize has been buffed to 1500 per win.

• Shop

The /warp shop has been updated. The purpose of this update is to set the maximum and minimum prices for the economy.

The complete Jobs Revamp is now live! It's been a project in the work for the last six months, but it's finally here. I'd like to thank you all for your patience while this system was worked on. I will be posting a massive tutorial thread at a later date which will cover specifics of each job, however, here are some of the primary changes and features you will notice:

• All previous stats from the Jobs system before have been reset. This was ultimately required due to the mass re-balancing of the system and change of jobs (some no longer exist, for example)
• You may only take 2 jobs at a time by default. This is absolutely intentional, however you may earn more slots by performing tasks in your jobs to gain jobs points. Jobs points can be used in the /jobs shop to buy up to three additional slots (allowing you five total jobs).
• Every job has been given three slots for "Job perks." These perks are earned when you reach lvl 25, 50, and 100. (E.g. the level 25 Digger can buy bonus XP tools on the jobs shop, lvl 50 Builder gains armor stand tools in Towny, etc.)
• It's highly, highly recommended you work with other players to benefit each other in jobs. Every job has been given items to produce or use that are affected by another job. Most items within the game can be used by two to four jobs in its various forms and stages. You will be able to read more on these combinations in the extended guide to jobs or by testing things for yourself.

@Twomoo hid 380k’s worth in gold somewhere in towny. The treasure is underground, marked with a pressure plate. The location is purportedly within 2km of the Greater Mooville Area, and has not ever been claimed other than to hide the gold. Good luck searching!

The star of last week’s Meeptimes has been murdered in the intervening two weeks.

Story-time with the Crew

@evilalec555 groaned as he got up from bed. He looked at his watch. While he napped a few hours had sped by, leaving the kitchen incident in hazy memory. Realizing he desperately needed to feel better in time for all the Halloween parties tomorrow night, he decided that more serious measures were required. He dug out the most recent addition of the pwarp list book and searched the pages until he found what he wanted.

“Aha! If this works I’ll be well in time for parties.” Alec headed out to the underlined pwarp.

“Welcome to pwarp pots.” he heard a voice behind him as he walked into the small wooden house. Behind him, @Alphaprime1212 was polishing a glass bottle to put up onto the display stand.

“I need a healing potion please, and soon!” Alec said.

“Oh, another such request. I think I only have one left. So many people wanting to feel well before the festivities.” Alpha replied.

“Thank you so much! Happy Halloween!” Alec said as he took the potion from alpha. He gulped down the fairly smelling but nasty-tasting drink.

“You too!”

Then, just as Alec was heading out the door, alpha calls back.

“You participating in the Halloween house contest?”

“Oh no! I had totally forgotten about that!”

“Oh, that’s no good. You still have some time, good luck!”

Back at home, Alec was frantically running from corner to corner, trying to scrounge up all the orange banners, purple streamers, and skeleton statuettes that he could. His parrots, excited that he had finally figured out the message - if not in the way they intended - rushed to help. For the next four hours, nine figures swarmed about the cabin, doing their best to bring the house to competitive shape.

Finally, exhausted, all the inhabitants gathered about the crackling fireplace and relaxed from the long day’s work. One by one they fell asleep, to awaken only once the sun had risen on the last day of October.

Halloween day was abuzz with energy. People were busy putting out their candy baskets out on their porches, baking orange frosting-covered cakes, and setting in place the last of their decorations. After his morning cup of coffee (this time with no interruptions) Alec walked out onto his front stoop and observed last night’s creation.

Orange and purple streamers came down from the roof in thick clumps. His two attic windows were painted over in black and dark green swirls, seeming to spiral into nothingness. His balcony was painted a bright red, with an awning stretched over from the wall all the way to the railing, covering the lookout. Below, a wide, dark red banner stretched across the whole front of the house. Hanging over it were two precisely positioned strings with grizzly looking soup cans hung onto them.

Alec was staring into the enormous maw of the scariest clown he had ever had the displeasure of seeing.

“Wow, that’s some epic work right there! I was thinking you wouldn’t enter since your house was bare for so long, but it seems that you have a fighting chance.” The voice of @CrohnZero reached Alec’s ears from afar. He turned, and sure enough, the rapidly approaching figure was indeed him.

“Thanks! Do you know who the major competitors are?” he responded.

“Yeah. @Meznik is hoping to win, he decorated his house well. @CluelessKlutz worked for many hours on his. @agnd is also doing his best to take home the 100,000. There are a few others who have good submissions, but I can’t remember on the spot. You have pretty tough competition, but I think you might just win.”

“I haven’t seen anyone else’s build yet, so it’s a relief to hear that I’m not far behind.”

“Oh, and @AdrianIsEpic is rumored to be working on something as well, but no one knows exactly what it is. We’re all disconcerted though, as you can imagine.”

“Right. Hopefully he keeps it within reason.” Alec replied with some distaste, the bitter memory of the fishing trip still raw on his mind.

“Well, see ya around. I still have many houses to check out.” Crohn said, and sped down the path towards civilization.

Around noon, the five judges of the competition arrived. They inspected every nook and cranny, muttering comments under their breath along the way. Alec hoped that the words were kind, but he was clearly not meant to hear, and he didn’t want to interfere.

As she was leaving, @Vexmae looked back and said “The results will be announced at eight this evening, just before the fireworks, in the town square. We’ll see you there!”

And so, Alec spent the next eight hours pacing around his home (which was now significantly harder with the many seasonal statues, pumpkins, candles, and cauldrons), anxiously waiting for it to be an appropriate time to head down to town.

Once the hour hand hit 5, he locked his front door and waved his parrots goodbye, hoping that the next time he saw them he’d be 100,000 meebles richer.

When Alec approached the town border, he the bubbling excitement became tangible. @Epixaid was buying some candy from @the_boss, @BlendyCat was stopping by the bakery for a special cake order, @Synergizer was busy explaining about the decorations for his castle, and many others were rushing through the streets, busy to get to wherever they were going before the parties started.

Without much of a clear purpose, Alec wandered around talking with friends until the festivities began at around six. The costumes, dancing, free soda, and an abundance of candy all made for a great evening, but in the back of his mind, Alec was concentrated only on the prize. The rush of the competition had gotten to him, and he was obsessed.

Eight o’clock came, and with it, as promised, came the Halloween House Decoration Competition Committee, ready to announce the winner in the form of a stylish cake recreation of the victorious project.

A veiled platter was brought onto the stage.

A drum beat echoed through the hushed crowd and against the stone buildings.

@EllieEllie grasped the cover with both hands and threw it off to one side.

Wild applause erupted from the masses. Quickly followed by deadly still silence.

The cake was not of one of the participating houses. It was of the town square, complete with bell tower, river, and even a crowded plaza. And clearly visible on the face of the clock was a digital screen showing the number 5. Which switched to 4. 3… 2… 1…

The cake exploded in a violent eruption of hundreds of small pieces, knocking down @CuddlyKittens14, who was holding the cake. This though, was just the beginning. The many small pieces weren’t bits of frosting. Instead, whizzing firecrackers leaped through the air, finding themselves amidst the spectators, on roofs, and on the decorative streamers hung throughout the square, which promptly caught on fire.

From the bottom of the plate opened up a small panel, which consequently released another barrage of airborne explosives. This time, fireworks. Illuminating the faces of the stunned judges, the bright blue letters in the sky spelled “Adrian 4 Best Halloween Prankster”

What’s your favorite thing to do on Meep?
Building and interacting with the community.

You manage a district in Legend that’s off from the main capital. How do the builds vary from the main location’s?
There’s more shape and diversity in them.

You built a Halloween build in creative. What made you do that and what inspired you to make it an ast build?
I was bored and figured I could make some money by entering. And the asts made it more lively.

How did you decide who was bad and who was good?
Admins are naturally bad, that’s how.

Are there other things that you like doing as much as building on the server?
Messing around sometimes, in global or in local chat.

Do you have any hobbies outside of Meep?
Breathing.
