The shear fact people are trashing a good person and saying mean things on their resignation letter is a sure fire way to get them off my "friends" list. You know who you are.
June,
I hope you have fun outside of the staff team. As we talked about this earlier, I hope it continues to be a huge relief of stress and weight you were holding. I loved getting to work with you the first time you were a staff member. Have fun and stay golden.

I'd love to go to the source, but every single supermod is either ignoring muunkee or viewing this thread and not responding.
Fixing this problem is a priority, but is not the biggest one, I want to shed light on the fact on how preposterous it is that Blendycat was accepted over Muunkee, who literally does better work than any current helper despite not being one. It was not fair for staff to not give a person who changed their act and worked tirelessly for three months a shot at helper when they gave a person who laughed at someones dead grandpa a chance. This is stupid. @Summers I remember when you said you were going to quit like 3 months ago. You gave away 40mill and then came back 2 weeks after. I'm sure you are going to regret this, Cya in 2 weeks.

Staff is a stressful job, and the amount of work and effort you put into the server for your own time is not good or bad. Thank you for all the time you put into your staff training/work in that time period. Also, Meep can be a little time-consuming and you can soon find yourself asking exactly why you spent so much time on it.
I 100% respect and stand behind your decision to resign. I, myself, have a health condition that limited my activity with what I could do. I was getting ill from being on staff, and that's never a good thing. Health > IRL > Meep. You just have to remember that.
I wish you the best of luck in your travels and in life. I hope you got a glimpse into what staff life is and that you had a fun time while it lasted.Courtneyyy, metr0n0me, Toostenheimer and 7 others like this. -

I know the strengths of this server, and I'm not saying, for a second, you guys aren't doing things. I know exactly how much work is being put in, but I also know exactly how much progress gets made for those man-hours, not much. I also know why people leave, it's not because of a single reason, but many, complicated ones. However, that does not negate the fact that the server has spent thousands on ads, and the natural outcome of that is several hundred players pass through, and we've retained only a fraction. This is as evident by the fact that it has been officially discussed as so.
"MeepCraft currently incorporates minigames. These minigames integrated into the Economy experience in the way that players are rewarded with the in-game currency “Meebles” upon winning. The basis behind this previously was that players would join the server for the minigames, and stay for the economy aspect. This is not true, and it was never true."
This statement is absolutely correct, but yet thousands of dollars has been spent towards something that is essentially pointless. While the amount spent isn't an issue, that is the cost of doing business. But what is silly is that nothing has fundamentally changed to perhaps give those dollars a shot at being much more efficient.
One chronic issue has been that most measures taken end up being half measures. Whether from inception, or just the end implementation of something much more robust, the result has been half-measure after half-measure. What kind of server is this? Is it a towny server, or a hub server with towny? There are hub servers out there with double the players in their towny game-mode? Is this a towny/economy server primarily? The development certainly does not point towards that, look at mini-game and gimmick development there has been compared to substantial and real content added.
I'm just asking, is this really working? Doesn't it kind of seem the same as MeepNetworks, in terms of direction? When is it decided that this kind of hasn't worked in 3 years. Or has it? Are we content with the server at this playerbase? If so, then fine, but you can only extract so much money, which is needed because this is a business, from a customer base. So you must face the obstacle of refreshing that playerbase.
Personally, it's not all about survival. If towny had new content, I'd still play it. While it's absolutely normal to get bored of a game after 3 years, through no fault of anyone, that applies to all players. You are still forced to face the question of how to get new/more players.
Either way, I'm just saying; this is probably the norm for this server if it wants to be a hub server with towny. I can point out several servers that are fundamentally like MeepCraft, that wasn't the case as of a few years ago.
-- This is also not a dis to any of you staff, again, I know how much work is put in, and how much is out of your control. I just want the server to stop running into the wall in front of it, and turn somewhere else and try that path, we had it once before, we can be there again certainly, but I don't believe by this road.Toostenheimer, Dart_Knight, metr0n0me and 7 others like this. -
- Thread: Raised Taxes
The complaint made in the original post, regardless on someone's opinion, is a legitimate complaint and that person is, indeed, correct on the complaint, despite any issues with that player, his actions in the past or present. I cannot see why the utmost respect wouldn't be taken to the playerbase that has a potential to purchase a product costing $319.99. Regardless of who the response was to directly, it ends up being a response to all players with the same criticism, regardless of who they are. -

I will say that matters pertaining to bias, favoritism, vague rules, special treatment, elitism, and a general lack of transparency do deserve recognition at some point down the road. @_Peero_ made some great observations about some aspects of the favoritism, elitism, and lack of transparency. I understand why you left the subject alone, as the issues are not simple to address and require a thorough examination of the server policies, the accompanying enforcement as well as the general behavior and culture of those who are chosen to represent the server. I would not have interpreted an immediate reply on this subject as proper acknowledgment anyhow rather I would have seen it as a damage control response.
Needless to say there are a lot of players scorn and I do think the current moderation format is in disarray making it difficult for lower level volunteers to do their job. Sometimes leading to inaction either for fear of retaliation or due to a general lack of clear standards. An example being the failure to define and enforce PG-13 chat fairly.
There was an excellent point made by @cooey about volunteers being “too supportive.” I would submit the idea that the current culture might be discouraging volunteers from speaking out about said issues perhaps for fear of not being promoted, being excluded from projects, not wanting to draw attention, “make waves”, or as a result of general character traits inherent to the “volunteer personality”. The latter cases requiring tactful leadership to encourage people to offer their true opinions because they are valuable.
Most of these issues can be found by simply reading through previous discord and forum complaints and I won’t bother pointing out specific incidents because as you stated, you aren’t blind. More could be gleaned from a survey as you referenced anyhow.
I do think it may be beneficial if your vision and long term goals for this server were shared in a more detailed and structured form. Perhaps something that can be posted to the front page of the website and pushed to the inactive people via the gigantic email list. It may also be an effective way to drive substantial traffic to a newly crafted survey so you can gather the information necessary to properly allocate your limited volunteer resources going forward as you prepare for the attempted “revival” that should accompany 1.16.
I will say that you have generally given me a prompt ear, and it does not go unnoticed but I did not craft this thread specifically looking for a reply, I did so in hopes of catalyzing change.
