Edit: This post is now 64 days old and I am so depressed at how prophetic it was. In retrospect, why do I perceive so much “virtue signaling” in the replies? Is it just me?

    TL ; DR - I am sad.

Given how many times I have seen posts like these I am very tempted to just delete this and give up like I did in the past. If you have something to add, please do so, trolling or not. The opinions of those who read this are the most important for THEY are the veterans and the loyalists.

The rhetoric discussing the current state of this server should be addressed sooner rather than later. The current trajectory is bleak and it needs to change. Someone needs to step forward and show leadership by providing us a vision for Meepcrafts’ future while at the same time actually acknowledging mistakes made in the past to foster trust with what is left of the community.

Stop deleting opinions you dislike on discord and address them instead. If you can’t develop a reasonable response that others will blatantly agree with, perhaps the person talking is onto a subject that actually merits time and thought. If they are a moron, the response should be a no-brainer, supposing it even needs a response.

Deleting messages on the other hand undermines staff as a whole as it serves to validate claims of bias, favoritism, and hypocritical censorship. That whole deletion of “trailing dislikes” a few weeks back is a great example. It can also be taken as evidence that some are well aware of the reality, are upset by it, but then decide to pretend it isn’t an issue, fabricate another reality, and feed it to us as the truth. It is unfair to the hardworking staff that actually put in the effort to operate appropriately and according to the actual stated rules. People notice, it affects the community negatively, you should do better.

It is quite unsettling to see assumptions, affirmations, and lazy excuses nonchalantly handed down and parroted as facts. A great example being “it’s finals week” in response to the player count hovering in single digits.

Why not survey the community? Topics like: their feelings about staff, why they quit, or what needs to change. Simply asking seems to be a logical thing to do when addressing the exodus of the community…
Also when I say "the community" I don't mean a town hall meeting on discord, that is a very specific subset of players that in no way accurately represents the community as a whole. Too much damage may have been done to accomplish this now but trying is certainly the better option.

So far we've got a single survey about the tutorial that didn’t even have proper words in the available responses. Invaluable or Valuable? Who honestly expected to get meaningful feedback from that survey? So many new players who have a bad experience will never fill it out because they are either gone or will never make a forum account. You are sitting on a data set made up of veteran players’ opinions about the “new” player experience… TF? I couldn't even fill out that survey, not just because of the grammar issues but because I don't remember what issues I had "starting off" seven years ago...

Saying “it will be better soon” without providing concrete details is no better than an airline pilot telling you to use the oxygen mask as you fall like a brick into the mountainside. We have windows.

This isn’t a multi-million dollar game company, there need not be secret projects, it might sound awesome to those working on them but to me it is just more of the same rhetoric with a bit of staff elitism thrown in.

The projects are for the community yet you leave them in the dark until the very last moment and rarely consult them about said projects? Seems a bit backwards to be honest. Had people known that hundreds of hours of work would go into extreme only for it to be left to decay three months later with no acknowledgement of the mistakes made, I am sure they would have voted the effort to go elsewhere.

I imagine the reason so many “projects” are kept secret is because the administrators don’t wish to be hassled about timelines and held accountable for broken promises. I submit that that is the problem in itself. Those making the decisions need to take accountability for their actions and mistakes. They also need to be transparent about them. It would be a lot healthier to tell the community why something is behind or shelved than to leave them in the dark for months while leading them with a carrot on a stick.

Players need to know the server is on a path and what the path looks like. That means solid information and timetables. If this isn’t provided then players and the community become hopeless. Sound familiar?

The lack of players isn’t a result of skyblock spawners existing or not existing nor is it based on the quality of the jobs plugin. “Revamping” the tutorial or adding a parkour map won’t do anything to retain players either. If you honestly think that player count is tied to such specific aspects of the server than you have your head deep in the sand.

Long term, players log on because they look forward to playing with friends and participating in what they perceive to be a great community. That community needs to be nurtured, cared for, and respected. Players need to feel that the people making decisions value the community and the prosperity of the server more than personal image and pride. I hate how much this mirrors American politics at the moment, it is sad that the two are comparable.

The player count had grown during the launch of extreme because people either heard or got a glimpse of the community starting to blossom again and they wanted to join in. After all, nearly all of us do want to see it blossom again, very much so.

Unfortunately, this time around the blossom was watered with Brawndo.

As has happened in the past, pride, bias, lies, special treatment, vague rules, and inconsistent management/moderation lead to large core chunks of the community leaving, which in turn discouraged others from logging on for any sustained period of time.

Only a select few people enjoy playing Meepcraft alone and if at all possible they should not be tasked with solely deciding its future as their perspective is typically incompatible with the idea “community focused”.

I implore you(administrators) to take a step back and rethink several things and try to extract some wisdom from the Extreme launch, KitPvP and the subsequent events before you just drop more things into Meepcraft. Simply adding skyblock won’t do anything if you don’t address the systemic issues at the top first. It will only result in another few years of the staff team wasting their real lives putting bandaids over broken legs.

It really won’t make a difference how much effort the staff team puts into specific projects if leadership continues the pattern of ignoring, silencing, mistreating, lying, disrespecting, misinforming, and failing to care for the single most important aspect of the server: the community.

    September 2012

The month I joined Meepcraft. I was 13 years old. Just a kid, having fun playing minecraft, using my own mind to explore and to satisfy. Building and constructing houses. Learning the ways of the trade. Attempting to master the art of PVPing. Every single day. After school, I would rush home to check all of my farms, my grinders, and how our town was holding up. It was a routine.

May I add, the group of players I grew up with in the 2012-2013 meepcraft community had similar routines. We all loved it. (If you are my friend, you know exactly what I'm talking about;))

Back then, I was also notoriously known to PVP. A lot. I would attempt to kill every single player until I was rewarded their own head; forming allies, Clockwork...all that jazz.

    2013

But then MeepNetworks came about...I received my Ultimate rank from Cooleysworld for 40 million meebles...I believe. One month before the reset. I really lucked out, but I still feel bad for Cooleys. During the reset, I was taking a 1 month vacation. When I came back, I was dumbfounded. But my motivation didn't stop me. I kept playing after the reset. But this time around, it was different. Many of the easy ways of making money were removed. (/jobs) But there was a brand new way of making money...zombie pigman farms. I remember attempting to make a 32 chunk zombie pigman farm, but it never got finished. I wish I still had pictures of it. I lost motivation in the process. I decided to take a break from meepcraft.

    2014

After a couple of months. I tried to rejoin. "banned for duping". I did indeed ask for proof of me duping, and indeed it was given: After I lost my motivation, I was messing around, taking a scroll through possible glitches and exploits. I saw that there was one that worked on many servers, so I attempted to do it with dirt. It failed. However, that simple action dismantled my clean record, my perfect reputation...I was extremely disheartened. Not at the fact that I attempted to dupe, but by the fact that people believed that I was doing it for wealth; people obviously wouldn't believe me if I said "I was only testing if it worked, if it did I was going to report it". But it is what it is; if you don't know about how a person truly acts, you should never completely trust them. I accepted the facts, since I had already lost motivation with meep.

    End of 2014:

6 months passed. I decided to check up on meep again. Wrote a simple ban appeal, immediately accepted. I was delighted. I began to play again semi-actively. But this time around. There was something missing. It just didn't feel as fun as it used to. Those "good days" were over. I attempted to keep branding meepcraft to my thoughts; trying to find this lost motivation. Fuzzlr came around and asked me if I could help with making the beta of the Creative World. I joyously accepted to help. Building on those plots gave me some inspiration to keep going, but it was only temporary inspiration. After I finished, my discouraged self returned. "What else is there to do?"

For the rest of that month, I decided I was going to move to video production and video editing. I tried to make a trailer of the new spawn. My motivation spiked once again...

    January 2015:

After I made the trailer, my inspiration ceased once again. I began to play minigames, participating in "meep harmony", debates, etc. Just things to get me through time. Nothing special. Eventually, I gave up and became very inactive once again. I gave all my items away, gave all my profit to mylucky7...I'm sure he used it for the greater good. For the rest of the year I was off and on. Saying "hi" now and then. Lingering in the depths of the lost.

    June 2016:

And here we are. Me telling you my journey. And looking at whats happened with Meepcraft getting blackmailed by the EULA, I see things as getting more and more hopeless. It's quite mournful. But here's what I portray from it:

Meepcraft was created back in 2012. That's over 4 years. Eventually, it's going to become boring. Try to play an Xbox/PS4 game for 4 years straight; you will be sick of it! So what do they do? They make a new game! Reset the server, make a few critical changes/updates, restart the process! I view this as the easiest way to revive meep. This is easy to say, and probably not too difficult to do. But will it happen? Probably not.

Meep has gone through numerous phases, changes, updates, downgrades, patches, and people. The people who are the "core" of the server have been around for a very long time...and they are surely not motivated enough to do such a task. Is this a bash on them? No, any person would feel the same exact way after so long. It just gets old. The nostalgic feeling will never come back to the presence. Eventually, the server is let to slowly rot, like a tree. And the new EULA is the chainsaw to the tree...or what's left of it. And the people that are watering the tree have stopped; they've been given new priorities, new jobs, new hobbies. The hopeless tree is doomed to fall. But then again, it's just a tree, isn't it?

Though my example I provided may be a little extreme, it indeed is similar to what's happening. Much of this community is gone. But there are still a select few that keep helping the server; watering the tree...they are destined to go down with the tree...they will not accept their fate. And that is good! It will keep the server up longer, and something good may possibly happen that could sprout revival across this "tree". Respect to those people that still stand by the server to this day.

However, I do not see much hope anymore in Meepcraft. I've been here from the beginning, but I've never seen anything like how ghostly the community is like today. Compared to a year ago, Meepcraft is a ghost town. It breaks my heart. But we all have to move on. Part of my motivation loss is the fact that I have new challenges that I face: Getting a great ACT/SAT score, getting good grades, facing 6 AP classes, boosting my QPA, and now I will be applying to colleges. I'm not 13 years old anymore.

    Times change, so do people

But...I am very happy of what Meepcraft has given to me. It's been a large stepping stone for me. But more stepping stones await ahead in my life, as they do for everyone. I was even was debating on whether I should even be writing a final thread..."is it even worth it?" But, from all the time I've spent in the past, I concluded that I should at least give condolences. I will never forget this server, how it has brought me through hard times, how it was once a critical point of my life, my childhood. I will remember all of my meep friends. I'm grateful to have been blessed with such a healthy yet strategic and competitive environment known as Meepcraft.

    It's been real

Good luck to you, your future, and new challenges that you face in your life.

Let your motivation fuel you through hard times, and success will be just around the corner.

    Thanks for everything

    Best Regards,

    ~Sarge926

For many of us its been a few years since we've been on Meep, and we're all grown up now!! I just thought I'd post a thread where everyone can say what they've been up too, what they've accomplished, and how everyone is doing.

I'm a senior in high-school now and I plan on going into restaurant management at a community college next year. I've been working at a sandwich place for going on two years and I'm training to be a manager. Thats pretty much it for me lol.

    Probs not
Its been about a year and a half so I have to pop by again.
Thanks to all those who found me outside of meepcraft and apologized for all the stuff you did to me when i was staff.
    That was dope
To you other ones who don't know me, I'm an ex supermod here to give you guys a warning:
Being staff here kind of sucks and it sucks for you if you're breaking the rules but don't make staff's job and lives miserable. My time as staff forced me to change my facebook url, all my account names, my phone number, etc. It was pretty miserable because people in game decided to ruin my life out of game. I would get phone calls from kids I didn't know telling me that they hate me and wanted me to die because someone posted my number in a chat with a bunch of people from this server in it. It literally drove me insane. In reflection of this and a recent talk with someone from the server, I decided to get on and say don't be a jerk to the staff because they banned you. My anxiety went up and so did my depression, it was miserable. So don't stalk your staff members, harass them out of game, just deal with it. Its a minecraft server, not something that impacts you long term.

I feel so honored to be the first comment. All of my hard work and dedication has paid off. Getting the first comment has been a dream of mine for many years, and I would like to thank those who have helped me along the way. First and foremost i would like to thank god for giving me this opportunity. Next i would like to thank my parents. I want to thank my friend Peter Griffin for being really skinny and always there for me. I would also like to thank my pet tadpole for surviving against all odds for over a week. Next i would like to thank the squirrel that lives in my backyard for climbing trees because that gives me inspiration that i need to get through the day. This is a special moment in my life and i would like to thank any of my unmentioned friends and family that have helped me along the way. This moment will be a moment that I will never forget. I just remembered a few other people i would like to thank; Abraham Lincoln, the fish I caught in the third grade, my light in my room because i wouldn’t be able to see the keyboard without it, the internet for letting me go on the bodybuilding forums, my house because without it i would be homeless, and last but not least i would like to thank all the people out there that actually took time out of their day to read this. I cannot stress how much of a big deal to me this is. I have been trying to be the first on a post for years, but that has not been possible until this amazing day. Hopefully my good luck will continue, but this is undoubtedly a rare occasion. If you asked me how I did this, I would say, you can achieve anything u set your mind on. To all the kids out there reading this, I would like to tell them to follow their dreams. Being the first is truly amazing, thank you everyone
