Yes, why listen to a point that might apply completely just because someone doesn't play in-game? I don't see how it changes the fact that MeepCraft is harming itself by practising something that can really only affect it negatively. It's just common sense.

I honestly don't see how this could effect meep any more negatively than anything else that's currently going on, this is the least of the staff's worried really

I think what the majority of people really want to see is how long the player is banned for. Especially if the player is a friend, can I just wait half an hour for the ban to expire or is it longer?

compromizing - It will show kicks and bans with player names with no reason applied to it so you would only see "Kling has been banned for 1 day." We will leave out the reason of "He ate all my food and must be punished."

What about us who have worked for the server for countless hours and played an integral part of rebuilding the server after it was stolen from Fuzzlr and played a key role recruiting many of the great staff and architects this server has known?

There have been many admins this server has had, including Cooleysworld and Klutchdecals that wouldn't have even been staff if I hadn't encouraged them to do so.

Should I get the right to speak my humble opinion respectfully?

I still play, and it's a nightmare to watch. We talk about being family friendly harming the server, but not a word about constant spamming of "L O L," "Roasted," "Savage," "Idiot," every time there's a ban. It's hard to carry on a mature environment, one of the reasons the community has lasted this long, with this in place. Besides, why is it my business to know when Vkl has been duping, or when Pandabear filed troll modreqs. If the staff team really wants to be more open, allow staff to tell us ban lengths, not reasons (There's already the policy that allows for reasons regarding a town to be known). Not to mention, we get forums threads when a staff members misses one letter when kicking someone, so what happens when they mess up a perm ban?

That's how I've always seen it, I'm always happy to tell a player that their mate will be back on the server in a few hours or what not.

At the end of the day, staff are going to get hate for what they ban for no matter what. Why not make global chat more entertaining while we're at it?

To the point about them just being customers - yes they are but they are also kids mostly under 18. For the ~3 years that we had the bans public, there were seldom major conflicts of interest (donations and the bans being public). If the majority of players, who are going to donate, want it, then why not?

Because no one is going to not donate as a result of removing it, but they may leave as a result of harassment from a ban. All it takes is one bad apple seeing a player banned, then harassing that individual after they return.

Sure but most of the players left after the bans went private.

Not to mention it opens up trouble for staff by giving players the ability to badmouth staff as a result of it and create a negative atmosphere, and not only that, it gets tiresome for staff when players complain about ban reasons/lengths, etc.,

They already get poop for their ban reasons. They shouldn't be banning people for ridiculous things anyways so there really shouldn't be so much of a problem. The most you're gonna get is like "oooh sucka" or something.

I truly appreciate all of the rational thinking and thoughts that you guys have contributed through these threads. Quite an interesting conversation! Fun for me to read.

You know what this should be? A public town hall meeting in the discord. We haven't had one of those in ages. Also to update us on other things going on in the server maybe.

Keeping the public ban messages:

Pros:

*Players understand what's happening to fellow players while on. No one just disappears.
*Players see what it takes to get banned, because they see the moment of the ban.

Cons:

*Players are publicly humiliated.
*Players know what people were banned for.

I see how people may dislike the idea of bans being public, but I don't think peoples' images are adversely affected by displaying the ban publically. At the same time, this acts not just as a form of entertainment, it also shows players when and how people get banned.

Everyone should voice their opinions. Staff never said "exclude certain players." Plus, your salty because other people are disagreeing with you.
Alot of people who are banned appeal anyways though. Plus, I remember a few town staff that were given their positions back after their ban.

I'm saying that if you don't play in game, then what your saying is likely to be based off wrong information. The reactions people have when people get banned is drastically different then it was the last time bans were public. And I don't consider a 29 to 6 vote a reason to be salty, cause it is pretty obvious what the majority want.

I'm not necessarily saying that your opinion doesn't matter, I'm just saying it is most likely based off wrong information, if that makes sense. Look at it this way: You live in a town for years and years at a time, then move away for a little while. You come back, and everything is completely different. Houses were rebuilt, new laws and roads were put in, and all the people are different. You dislike these changes, and decide to run for mayor and change everything. Yes, your opinion still may be relevant but you have not been in the town for so long, you don't know why some of these changes were made, or the impact that they have. Compared to last time bans were public, the community is much more calm when a person is banned. It's less "haha get rekt" and more "yea, that guy had it coming, they deserved it." All I meant by that post was if you don't play, you are more than likely going to be out of the loop. Things are changing everyday with meep, and its hard to keep track of it all just by forums.

Mate, I am saying that you're using my ban in-game as an argument against the validity of my point, so you're attacking myself rather than the reasoning I gave. It really isn't relevant that I'm not playing in-game as long as what I said still applies - and it doesn't seem like much has changed that would render it obsolete.

In all honesty I don't know who you are nor do I know you were banned. That comment was not aimed towards you, rather to Deinen and Cyborg. I said "who don't log on" not "who are banned."

For myself personally, I'd rather just be able to tell someone the length if they ask me. If a player is banned now, everyone knows why and it can make it more difficult for them to integrate back into the server and the community when or if they are unbanned. I believe the player has already had the punishment with the ban itself, plus any other additions if it's theft/grief/perm. If a player has been banned, I'd rather it be their choice to tell people what they were banned for, there is no need for public humiliation.

When they come back, they have already apologised through ban appeals (which are viewable to everyone), and have done their time so-to-speak. No need to air the dirty laundry if they'd rather take the time, come back from the ban, and start afresh. If they don't want to do that and they want people to know what they were banned for then that's their choice. I think it's important that we give them that choice.

Unless there was a policy change in the last 6 weeks or so, staff members don't tell people the length of bans when asked? I remember getting "that's not for me to tell you" multiple times when I asked staff about bans.

Though I agree simply telling people ban lengths upon request makes the most sense for me.

I don't think most people hold bans against others for very long unless it was something terrible, where then most already know about it from the ban appeal.
