giving people the ability to modify permissions in it self is messy, i think rather than the joke of towny epsilon or whatever the name may be, we should just come up with a better list of town ranks and have staff implement them.
if i remember correctly fuzzlr was totally willing to do this last time he was on the subject, what we lack currently is a well defined list of additions/alterations, if anyone actually wants to make progress on this, fire up a new forum thread and make a well written suggestion titled "town rank alterations/additions"
i mean yea, being able to have cool custom town ranks is nifty and all, the amount of work vs the payoff is simply not worth it, especially when we can get admins to manually create new town ranks, they would just be universal across the world and not specific to each town.
i suggest forming a list of 5-10 town ranks, if you can't create enough variability and versatility with 10 ranks, you're thinking about useless stuff/ranks
i think a much more prudent alteration would be to allow certain town ranks to be given to players who don't live in the town, i.e. plot clearers or VIP visitors who could access town owned plots without joining.... etc
this would also bring back an actual use for the whole "ally" tree of plot permissions.
but giving individual town by town custom ranks is just a pile of data that doesn't need to exist, and a whole bundle of issues staff do not need to be modreq'd about.
and for the record world-wide custom towny ranks can be created simply by modifying towny.cfg and literally any command permissions can be given to them within that document.
