Suggestion: Make Nonstop Begging in /shout a Kickable Offense.

Suggestion: Kick people that clutter chat with requests for free money!

Begging is looked down upon by almost everyone on the server. This is an economy server, where the major goal is to be the richest around. Saying this, begging in chat should not be seen as a viable source of income. Yet, people do it. Most players do not, but it only takes one player with a desire for free money and no care for being a nuisance to the people around them in order to see these messages all over /global.

Harassment is considered an offense, correct? If someone repeatedly begs you for money after denying them for a long period of time, is this not harassment? Are they not bothering almost everyone else in chat for money that they could have made themselves?
It is okay if one player is simply asking for a certain amount of money or a loan in order to serve a purpose (such as saving a town or starting a shop), but shamelessly asking for money every 30 seconds just to make money is not what an economy server is about. It is an eyesore to the players reading chat and does not contribute to the economy, unlike advertising one's shop or reminding players to vote, which while also sometimes annoying, is understandable.

I suggest that if someone asks for money more than twice in a 5 minute interval, they should either receive a warning or a kick, upon discretion of the staff member online and history with the player in question. If the player is new or normally does not beg in chat, the player should initially be warned.

tl;dr : Please give us /ignore.

There are too many people online that just beg for money.
For example, the 'charity' things they're doing, like the "pay 100 dollars to save (insert something here)!" cliché.

I like it, however there isn't any type of rule it breaks, and the chat is restricted enough already.

I don't mind it if it is for Ranks (Captain_chrisandstokes34) because it helps the server but if it is just for pocket change then +1 on banning it.

 

Then people are going to say it's for ranks...

 

There is a line, If they just ranked up and are begging again then kick them. But if they haven't ranked up in a few months and they almost have the cash let them go.

 

Or just not bother and give us /ignore

 

That's really dumb because that would cause far to much drama

 

How so I really want it in some situations -.-

Also just turn off chat.
Make it so you can type and see commands.

 

It is alright if the player is simply asking for money in a respectable fashion and accepting his losses if none reply, but it is a different story if the player is repeatedly asking for money when it is obvious no one wants to give any.

What if I was talking to someone? Also, I do not feel comfortable turning off chat in the case that a staff member or a friend of mine may be trying to contact me.

-1 people of meepcraft can do what they want as long as it doesn't break the shout rules. Sure it may be annoying, but this will cause controversy and it is fine. If it gets too spammy then it will be kickable. -1

 

I am going to move this past accepted and into completed. The reason being that we do recognized how problematic this is, and we also see the communal frustration against this. However, I think if we make a rule that results in kicks and bans over minor things, that is just as counter productive. We are currently resolving internally an option we can use to deter this while not coming down heavy handed.
