Please give any other information you might think is useful for us to know: It was in the wild where I made my trap, because the nether is considered wild. Also, the trap was easily escapable.

I already served 1 day for the killing helper in modreq, so I would like to be unbanned in 15 hours so I can get on after school.

I believe this is relevant information:

While I was still staff, I banned someone for having a trap from a nether portal in towns leading to the nether. I do not know what jonneh's trap was, but I was told (for a nether portal covered in lava that was *quite* hard to escape, especially without armor, though it was only one layer) yes, it was a ban, because it was "Any trap in the towny server with the intention to harm and/or kill another player."
While it's not technically in the towny server, it was accessed from it, with no warning that the lava would be there.

I'm not sure if this is the case for Jonneh, but I would like to ask any staff handling this case to take that into consideration.

Uh, this was blocked with quartz and glass. I did one with lava, but that portal stopped working.

PS: Quartz is breakable from the nether portal.

 

Indeed its call the "towny nether" for a reason? This could also be consider camping! ( Rule its illegal to: Standing around... ...to kill anyone as soon as another player enters or exits.), or Luring! (Rule its illegal to: sending... ... requests to kill/entrap someone. This includes accepting... ...request with intentions to kill the player (Luring) ). Though you did not send the request or accept it, its the same as using and alt to do so, cause the noobs though they were going to mine and get netherrack not be ambushed with traps and swords.

 

Er, I am not sure about the luring part? I don't happen to even have an alt. Also, it is called the "towny 'nether'" for a reason because you can grief in it. I didn't send any requests to trap or kill anyone, I only put the quartz there to halt you. Heh, had fun killing you though. Also please show me where in the rules it says "camping" is illegal?

 

Nothing is breakable when you block the portal , cause you can't do anything while in the purple haze! You cant even tpa out!

 

Actually you can break the quartz. Ask your friend who escaped the "trap."

No it shouldn't still apply because there was no ladder. Unless staff clear up their rules, it should not apply.

The portal in question was covered in lava. If you survived that, you would fall straight down to die. If you could fly, and made it out of the lava and over the hole under it, you would face several withers. This is a great trap, to be sure, but should be a perm ban offense in my opinion. The players you hurt were not the likes of Hornemans. They were the small, many new, players who were using an advertised portal to go to the nether to mine some netherrack to make meebs. What you did was very low and ......well, just wrong.

I am not the decision maker on whether your ban is reversed or not, but I would hope you would reconsider your actions in the future when and if you get back on. Those players you killed did nothing to you. And some of them will just give up on the server now and leave, so your actions could also be considered as being against the server itself. I would vote for perm ban for anyone doing such traps.

Tell me, why was Old_Pink's ban appeal accepted then? This was that same portal he was banned for. Also, I only did that to sabotage Hornemans. That wasn't against the server, it was against him. Also, I don't know anything about the withers. I won't be doing this again because when I did that, I thought it wasn't against the rules. It wasn't a "trap," they would just die if they did anything.

The other ban was for killing a "staff member in a ModReq." Nobody told me anything about a modreq however.

Ah well, this might as well be denied because I don't care about frickin 1 hour without Meep. Jeez staff, pick up the pace though. I got 0 official updates in the past few hours. This is 1 of the reasons I don't respect staff. They apply, but they think they can just breeze through it. FYI DOING THAT IN REAL LIFE WILL GET YOU FIRED. I don't believe all of the helpers and moderators are too busy to reply.

 

Jonneh you are correct that Old_Pink's ban was reversed, and using the same logic, yours probably should be too. I really think both bans should stand, but we have to treat all players equally. I do hope that you will honor your word above and try to be a better citizen in game going forward.

 

"Oh then you should be demoted cuz you don't think like other staff." Meh, not really. Im unbanned right now.

 

Im no staff, but I would assume that old_pinks ban may or may not being considered for re-ban!
