Inventory Bug/Glitch

Bug: Going to try to keep this short and simple, but I was sorting through my chests and once I had a double chest of iron leggings/boots I said "Free iron armor at spawn", and at this point I had glow-stone, stone bricks, stone, tools, and some other items in my inventory along with the leftover armor I was going to give out (because it didn't fit in my chests). After typing /spawn my inventory was cleared aside from my pickaxe, axe, shovel, sword and 41 chests (all in the first 5 slots of my immediate inventory). None of it was too valuable from what I remember so I'm not going to do a refund request but I wanted to report this bug in-case it were to happen again.

I'm not quite sure why, if this was a glitch, that my *entire* inventory wasn't cleared, only the top part you can't see without pressing the "e" key, and the last 4 slots of the immediate inventory. I didn't unfortunately have any screenshots of what I all had, but I know it wasn't that big of a loss anyways. The materials are easily replaced, I have tons of glow-stone and I was giving the armor out anyways. If you have an easy way to see what I had before it happened, I wouldn't mind it back but it's not worth the bother, otherwise.

Steps to reproduce: Not sure how you'd "reproduce" this but I'd think if you were trying to, you'd put a bunch of stuff in your inventory, type /spawn and see if it's still there? I did type /warp creative and then /home town to get back to TownsA where my items were last seen in my inventory, they weren't there. I also relogged and checked all my chests to see if I was just lagging really bad, the last 30 minutes I was working on my organization. The items have still not reappeared..

Evidence: I didn't anticipate this happening so I didn't have any screenshots of what I had before they disappeared, but here's a screenshot of the afterfact. I marked the spots I believe my items were in, not sure I got the top half all correct but that is approximately where everything was.

I attempted to recreate this and did not encounter the bug again. Maybe you should test it and take a screenshot on either side?

I also suggest trying to click or right click on any place where an item was, as often times glitches like this are lag. Otherwise, it appears to have been resolved.

 

I did try placing other items in the spaces where my items went missing from, nothing happened. I'm not sure if this is able to be re-created as I stated above, it might just be something that -happens-. Also, I wouldn't say it's "resolved" as my items still haven't showed back up although my main purpose of posting this is that in the case it were to happen to another member - you'll have evidence that this has happened before and is a reoccurring issue.

Did you check the chests where you got the items from?

 

Hmm, another one of those bugs. I have not personally experienced it, but it seems really familiar.

1. In skyblock, I had a bug, where if I placed an item into a hotbar slot, it would not register it. - resolved
2. In towny, if a tool breaks for me, it reappears after a certain time with minimum durability. - still a problem

There are probably more, but they have one thing in common. The server/players connection staggering at times.
Yours was probably a one time 'inconvenience' and I find it really improbable to happen again. I am not even sure there is anything the admins can do to prevent such incidents in the future.

 

You might want to check for any recent rollbacks and/or lag during this time period.

 

I myself was experiencing miniature rollbacks...

 

Has this issue happened again? This is most likely a fluke in how the system is supposed to run altered by lag, or another conditional situation.

 

No, I haven't seen this happen since. I guess it was probably a one time thing as you said.

 

For a lack of a better spot, I'm going to put this in resolved/denied. This is only because of the method of when this happens it's not precipitated by any actions, etc. Much like a rollback, it's an unfortunate part of Minecraft. However if you, or anyone else sees this issue happening with increased frequency, please feel free to post another bug report.
