Feeding Frenzy

One of the perks previously on the server for Premium was the much-beloved /feed. It prevented you from getting hungry ever. When the Eula changes were first made, it was first given to all players, until a suggestion came in that removed it from everyone for the purpose of creating a food market.

I sound like Ck on a broken record about this, but it just isn't going to happen. Never will there be a serious market for food. The entire town of Legend lives on a single guardian farm for crying out loud. Minecraft has dozens of ways to get food, and they're all very easy. No matter how much is done, there will never be a substantial food market that adequately pays for itself. Everyone simply sells their crops to /warp farming, anyways.

Therefore, I would like to see this perk return, perhaps to a higher rank still missing its perks, like Elite or Supreme (just set it wherever, staff). This means less players complain about perks, more donations, and overall happier players, which can contribute to future server growth

Oh yes, the very famous /feed command. This is what I begged my parents to get me Premium when I was younger. I loved that so much, until I found out it was no longer a command. I'd say this needs to come back now. +1

 

As you said food is very easy to get. And you can also /warp towns and stand in the tavern door and it will fill your food bar.
Yes it is another perk, but to me it is not necessary.

The point of perks are to make small advantages, or in other words, improve the "quality of life" for players, in ways that aren't game-breaking or ruin the experience for players who haven't donated. /feed is exactly that; it's just a little quality of life thing to make it less of a hassle for food.

In my opinion, -1ing a perk of all things because it's unnecessary is a little silly and kind of misses the point of perks in the end. The point is that the reasoning for removing /feed, ie. to promote a food market for the new economy, hasn't worked in practice. Therefore, there is no reason to not add /feed as a QOL perk because of the ease of access to food anyways.

Of all the perks that can be added to the game, /feed is one of the only ones I can think of that doesn't give a huge advantage to donators while still being somewhat useful. This puts it in contrast with /effect, which doesn't give a huge advantage but it completely useless, and /fly for example, which gives an advantage. We already have useless perks. /feed is essentially a perfect "middle of the spectrum" between advantageous and overpowered vs completely useless.

By no means should it be a priority, but it doesn't mean it's not a good suggestion.

EDIT: Just realized this may already be On Trello as a collection of other perk suggestions. The Trello card and suggestion don't say which perks were accepted, but /feed was mentioned by name in the related MeepTimes.

 

We accepted a similar suggestion but I'm happy for the thread to remain open to find out everyones views on /feed alone. +1

 

As chaos said, "unnecessary" is not a well reasoned argument to keep from adding a peek that will greatly benefit the server overall. The very reason the command was removed was to generate a market in the economy for food. Look at it this way, I can either just go to /warp towns, and sit in the tavern when I need food, or I can donate to the server, and not have to go there at all. Therefore, it benefits the server in rank donations because it gives people a reason to actually buy one. I'm not suggesting which rank it should be added to, but probably a higher one than Premium.

It also isn't hard to add at all, it's literally an admin running 1 or two commands. The node still exists on the server, it's just disabled for the zPerms groups players are in. Enable that mode to allow them to run the command again, and boom, all done.

Then I can't sell my filet mignon (its actually pork don't tell anyone) I don't understand why /feed was removed. Having to get food is annoying af. There is no market for food and no matter what others say, there never will be. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure whoever made the thread to remove /feed was a jealous cit/vip who wanted /feed but couldn't get it.

As someone that doesn't play a lot, the excessive rain and annoyance of keeping a food stock is the most annoying part of getting on.
