People fighting for your rights make 20k per year and you want a peasant working at Mc. Donalds to make $15 an hour? Minimum wage is the minimum someone is going to pay you, not the wage you are going to make for the rest of your life. Stop getting so offended that life sucks. Deal with it.

Ideally, the price would adjust for our armed forces too.

@Blue_marlin98 is there any reason the minimum wage shouldn't adjust for inflation every year though?

Yes people are definitely "offended" that their wages don't cover the cost of their living expenses and the treatment their daughter needs for asthma.

People are "offended" that after coming back from serving our country in war they're met with harsh economic conditions and have to beg outside of buildings until some spoiled kid tells then to leave.

People are "offended" when one minor incident costs them everything they have, despite all the hard work they've put in.

People are "offended" that they were sexually assaulted.

People are "offended" that they got cancer or any other incurable disease which costs thousands in treatment.

They should just all accept that life sucks and even though we can create a system in which they can get help, we won't do it because that's life, deal with it.

Maybe if your only making 10$ an hour be responsible and don't have a kid if you can't support them?

100% agree, instead of buying 10 new airiest every year we should be giving people who actually served in combat a retirement plan.

Define sexually assaulted, feminists tend to re define words to skew statistics in there favor.

If you had cancer, which costs thousands in treatment, how does earning 15$ an hour pay for "thousands" in treatment?

What if you have an unexpected pregnancy? Although I'm pro choice I wouldn't want to use abortion as an option regardless of my financial situation. My GF was making $7.25 an hour when she got an unexpected pregnancy. Her child has severe asthma, there have been so many nights where my gf rocked her crying and coughing child to sleep because she couldn't afford more treatment refills until her next paycheck, as a single parent. Then once the paycheck came she would have to put bills on the back burner because her child is more important. When i met her she was hundreds overdue on plenty of bills, and luckily we've got them all situated but we still have plenty of hospital bills we need to pay off.

My post isn't specifically about minimum wage. It's about the mindset Blue has about "People get offended that life sucks. Get over it." People are not "offended" they are literally struggling to cope and make ends meet. My GF has worked harder than myself and most people on this thread combined, especially harder than Blue will ever have to. She's cried for her sick child too many times. And all he can say is "don't be offended, get over it". It's an ignorant statement to make which shows he has no idea of the realities that most Americans face. He says he supports Americans? Well news flash Blue, poor and sick people are Americans too, not just rich white people. He only supports his ideology and nothing else, it's a sham of patriotism he pretends to display.

Plus he says he doesn't like hand outs?? His whole life has and will be a hand out. He didn't have to work at age 16 to support his single mother. He didn't have to save up for months to buy a used car and move to college. He won't have to decide which meal he will skip because I'm sure if he doesn't have money then mommy or daddy will give it to him. And nothing is wrong with being supported by your parents, congratulations that they can help you. But it's still literally a hand out, the thing you supposedly despise so much. Your road has been paved for you and you mock those that have to try paving their own way. It's sad.

Let your true colors fly, friend. Screw poor people/teenagers/people who just need a job, right?

And I've got a spot free Sunday night if you feel like flipping burgers with me ;)
I'd like to see Blue rent a house, pay bills, work a job, generally live on his own and be an adult. We're the same age and I can manage it no problem. But he wouldn't dare become a peasant and flip burgers to survive, oh no.

I'd like to see how well off he'd be if he didn't have his family to rely on.

    Be responsible, don't.

Yah, how dare he have a family that does everything they can to make sure he has a bright future, he's scum!
    Look up ad hominem attacks.

If someone is already pregnant you can't just tell them to not be pregnant lol does not work like that.
It's good he has that, my daughter will have that. But he only sees from his limited and distorted perspective. He would think differently if he lived in a different situation.
I know what an Ad Hominem is. I'm a college graduate, I took 3 years studying logical fallacies. I'm no longer reasoning with Blue because it's impossible, he refutes facts and moves the goal posts to whatever suits him. His use of logical fallacies far outnumber my singular use of a personal attack. Plus I'm trying to point out that his life is a contradiction to his thoughts. He hates hand outs yet he gets them from his parents. If he truly hated them he'd be moved out and working his own way up.

By the way Argumentum Ad Hominem is attacking the speaker to undermine their argument. That's the true meaning of an Ad Hominem attack. I am not using it to undermine his argument. I am still addressing his points and using the attack to demonstrate a correlation between him and his beliefs.

Also FYI saying "look up ad hominem attack" is more of an attack than I used since you tried to dismiss my position by not engaging with my arguments, but by claiming that I resort to personal attacks. Plus I assume youre using another logical fallacy: the fallacious belief that introducing an impressive-sounding Latin term somehow gives you the decisive edge in an argument.

Stay in school. Dont be a hypocrite.

Right, so if you can't support a child, be responsible and don't get pregnant.

Thats speculation. I have many friends less fortunate than me who were much more conservative than me. Instead of planning on working minimum wage jobs as a career, they do well in school (self motivated) and hedge there bets by partaking in as many extra curricular as possible. There going to get great scholarships and financial aid packages, because instead of whining and acting entitled, they made themselves desirable for colleges. They are working there way up, and they didn't need any handouts.

The price does adjust? however, adjusting from 7.50 (or whatever it is, I don't have a job so I'm automatically stupid when it comes to this) to $15.

People are offended that they make a mistake and someone else doesn't fix it for them.

There is no such thing as an unexpected pregnancy. If you are having sex, expect to get pregnant. If you eat a brownie, expect to get fat.

Yes, my parents taking care of me through my high school years automatically makes my entire life a hand out. Ill be 40 living with my parents rent free.

I'm going out on the boat so ill pass. Thanks tho.

I would be a peasant making $10 an hour and not cry about it. I would find a way to make it. There is a hotel I could live in for $80 a week, I would also eat Ramen noodles. My car is paid for so I don't have to worry about that. I also have money saved up so I would be okay if I got kicked out right after I graduated.

My parents are horrible because they didn't abort me.

So don't get pregnant!!! If you don't get pregnant then you wont already be pregnant!!!! This is common sense!

I actually had a hard time finding out when they made the wage 7.25, but from what I can tell it was 2006?
Anyway that would make the current minimum wage 8.75$.
I really had a hard time figuring out when the minimum wage was increased though, google wasn't helpful, so I'm wondering could any old people affirm that it was 2006 when they made the minimum wage 7.25?

Just a typical World of Warcraft player...

Its a bit of a crappy life though.

    go away Lena Dunham.

@MeepLord27 I don't play "wow" I did the 10 day free trial and couldn't do it.

Anyway, I never said it would be an easy life. It's just minimum wage, it's not the wage you'll make forever.

That's the point; you shouldn't have had kids when you can't financially support a family.

I mean, sure, but what if you already had kids and then your financial situation became unstable?

Alternately, you were irresponsible, screwed up, and had kids when your financial situation wasn't stable. Then what? It's not really the kid's fault that his parents were irresponsible. As Americans, and as members of our society, we should all want those kids to grow up with the best chance of success in life. Ensuring that the kid's parents never see any kind of social mobility does not set him up for success.

Minimum wage is not set based on your "screw" ups. It's based on what would financially get you the basic needs in life.
