Ok so why should I be banned for saying Gay? Gay means happy. So if u are going to ban people for saying Gay which means happy that makes no sense. We were pvping and then I said gtg and said ur gay. He almost killed me, so he is HAPPY!! Even if I said it the other way it isnt a bad word. It means liking a boy, believe it or not in real life people can like who they like.

Generally speaking, nowadays, 'gay' is used as an insult.

There are plenty of words you could have used other than 'gay', so you can't argue that you meant 'happy' due to the fact that you know anyone could easily misunderstand and there is a plethora of other words you could have used there.

The term was originally used to refer to feelings of being "carefree", "happy", or "bright and showy".

The word gay arrived in English during the 12th century from Old French gai, most likely deriving ultimately from a Germanic source.[1] For most of its life in English, the word's primary meaning was "joyful", "carefree", "bright and showy", and the word was very commonly used with this meaning in speech and literature. For example, the optimistic 1890s are still often referred to as the Gay Nineties.

'Bully' originally meant 'sweetheart' or 'good fellow' but you don't ever hear anyone say it to mean that. You are using sources from the 1890's; not accurate to the modern age.

I apologize for posting where I shouldn't be, and will take any corrective action deemed acceptable;however this excuse of "x means this!" is the most idiotic attempt at a loophole I've ever seen. So let us begin examining the etymology of the word gay. While in the past gay has been attributed to the meaning of happy, it has also, in the past had a double connotation of roughly the same meaning it has now. As early as 1637, the Oxford English Dictionary attributes one meaning as "addicted to social pleasures and dissipations. Often euphemistically: Of loose and immoral life."

By 1935, the word "geycat" found it's way into print, meaning homosexual boy, and by 1955 the commonplace usage of gay stopped referring to happy, and began it's usage into describing homosexuality. By 1963, the word gay was used often enough in commonplace speech to become commonplace in print, books such as The Intelligent Woman's Guide Man-Hunting, and other books, movies, etc.

This seems to be a confusing matter to you, and some others. Language evolves in form, and function over time, this is applicable to ALL languages. It is also true that in old English, a Germanic language, the term "meat" was used as noun to describe ALL food, not just meat in our terms. Had a piece of candy? That was meat. Had lettuce? Meat also. An original meaning to a word has no relation to a current meaning of a word.

The fact of the matter is, you used that word as an insult, and you're stupid enough to try to get out of it by showing examples of linguistics you hardly comprehend yourself. None of your above arguments mean anything. Nobody has used "you're gay" to describe happiness in decades. And we know if you went around your neighborhood randomly telling people "you're gay", they will most like assume the meaning that you actually intent, and your profuse protects about how you meant happy will fall on deaf ears.

Don't be dumb, this is dumb.

Ok. First of all I've seen u post in basically very ban appeal and thats illegal if u read the format. Also idc. Is it illegal to use old words? Thats sort of like if theres and old person u have to kill them bc they dont speak ur language! Oh also if i did mean it the other way its not bad. Believe it or not people have real life's and people can like who they want and dont get killed or fined for doing it.

Context is key. The context you used here was an insult directed towards another player, and disciplinary actions were taken. Those actions were totally justified, and you will serve the remainder of your ban.

    Denied.
