Remove ad filter in /msg I already made a suggestion but I can't reply IDK JUST ACCEPT IT ALREADY

Here's an IP to a server I've asked if you wanted, and you said yes, so it's legal for me to give it to you.

 

Maybe we can get some domains allowed, such as gyazo or imgur, etc. As far as ads goes, even though we refrain from banning all the time on them, I don't see why we would help people share IPs.

Perhaps a compromise can be made.

 

If you were to ask me if I wanted to join your other server you play on because we're friends, and you can't give me that IP, you are very sad. Because you're a noob, don't understand, and all you wanna do is play with your buddy.

 

Well you could share that IP via the forums in convo, skype, AIM (if this still exists?), IRC, email, paper and a pen. The options are limitless, but why would we help people direct traffic off our server? It's one thing to turn a blind eye, but another to actively help facilitate it, right?

 

Maybe the 9 year olds that share this info don't have this. You never know.

I don't think the ads in /msg were that much of a problem to start with, and it's really annoying when you're trying to show your friends something

 

I never really realised how annoying this was, however I am finding the URL filter in /msg is really annoying!
This would allow easier, and quicker sharing of information. Now although it could lead to a few people using it to advertise I think that the pros outweigh the cons.

Oh, and this is what the filter looks like for any other staff members if you don't know what it looks like.

Basicly yes. sending staff link to uploaded screenshots is a pain with the filter even blocking /msg.

 

Merged the two suggestions, as they are the same thing.

I will suggestion this to the staff to see if we can implement it:

Allowing basic url's through, gyazo/imgur/youtube, etc, but keeping the "ip" filter intact.

(If you post a link to staff, they can see it so the filter doesn't affect that part)

 

I don't really care about the photo stuff, but I like sending people ip's to cape designs sometimes. Maybe unban that?

 

We can absolutely work out a list of commonly used addresses and omit them so you guys can share content.

 

What service do you use for this? Also can you name any other similar / widely used ones?

I can see some issues arising with this, however I also see a benefit. Sending imgur links to friends or YouTube vids. I agree with deinen that maybe a few domain sites should be allowed.
