They vote and earn at least 6k a day. That's definitely enough. Hornemans can make the prices however high he wants them. Obviously they are working becuase he has over 130mil. You people are just jealous.

I agree people do abuse them, but if they were removed new players will not be able to ask to be invited to a town maybe they don't know about /w or /g. Maybe if they replaced a sign with something else or only allowed to click it once or something,

No, we are talking about the signs that advertise towns right in front of spawn, such as horneburg and skyside. That would be horrible if we removed THOSE signs.

You can put a sign about 10000 blocks away from your town spawn, make it face the spawn, and it wouldn't be hidden since you could walk straight towards it right? Give me a break.

But they join not knowing about tax all they see is a big sign. They have no distinction between a capitalist's sign and an admin's sign. Whatever they see they will do. Hornemans just suggests voting so he gets their money each and every day.

How could they not know the difference, the rules and towny commands are right next to them. If wanted to check the tax of the town, they could just look at the towny commands, and type it in. If you join the join not knowing the tax, then they probably don't care how much they are paying. Once they notice their balance decreasing, they will find out why. It isn't rocket science for them, it just takes some common sense.

    Lets get something straight first!

#1 Im NOT defending anything cause there is nothing for me to defend. If I actually thought this was going to happen my best chance to "DEFEND" this thread would have been not to say anything at all. Why? Cause just by me posting make all the super duper jelly whinny baby haters come out the walls and post on a thread they don't care about soley just go OPPOSITE of whatever hornemans says for the simple fact of being haters!

#2 I understand that the argument portion of this and it "possibly" makes new players have a poorer experience, BUT there has be NO PROOF yet of such an argument! The only PROOF made has been posted in this thread IN FACT proves that this is a GOOD THING for residents! And just to incase anyone don't understand why its a good thing i will list here here below:

    A. New Players can EASILY see the commands to JOIN at town! /t join (instead of running around for days wondering how to get a place to build a house)

    B. Once they are in the town then an EASILY teleport to a place that they can get a plot.

    C. All common questions are explained at /t outpost were players go to get plots. (well at least in horneburg, i can't vouch for other towns*)

    D. I currently have, and have had LARGEST 3 TOWN EVER in meepcract, that only clearly support the above 3 point just made!

Im clearly doing something right by giving homes to all those OTHERWISE homeless new players that the rest of you don't seem to care about! /nuff said

OMG its one of those members that has been ban so many times for being such a "great" influence on meep I just dont know what to say. Look even his suggustion breaks that rules in meep! yeah let me do that :/

This was good "made me laugh" but its true im could diffentlally be classified as both of those. And yes as soon as someone pays me 35 million they can take down the sign and do whatever they want with the town and its residents.

So although the billboards are ugly and can capture newbies that may not know any better.

They are not breaking any rules.

I do have concern over Alpha spawn, there is little to no information at alpha spawn.

You warp in to a Hut, and there is a random wild warp area, return to spawn, and remnants of what probably used to be a spawn building.
The first thing you see is a giant sign to join skyside.

Beta on the other hand has walls of information. There should probably be something similar in Alpha.

If someone doesn't read the instructional signs, their own fault.

I'm not sure what the rules are for the information that Towns Must give new residents, but I would say town tax's should be posted in the town spawn, along with any other rules the town might have.

+1 to this: these towns are really annoying and these signs are also annoying. new players are joining towns with ridiculous taxes, and its unfair to them

I am in full support of the signs if the mayors and other town staff are introducing the players to the server, not trying to get their money. However, this is quite hard to control.

The signs have always, and always will be, just a sneaky way to scam and tax nubs. That's all it is, a tax scam.
The ONLY thing this does, is fill the pockets of the one person happens to own the border town.
It does not "help" the new players. At all. It should have never been allowed in the first place.
Remove the signs. The little clickable sign that makes them say: "So-and-so is looking for a town." is plenty.
Then it actually requires somebody to talk to them, set them up with a plot, etc.
It's much better for the players that way.
