Remove "/t join (blah)" signs illegal near /warp alpha or /warp beta spawns

Title says it all. Players are being abused because of those signs. They are not being treated fairly, and losing money because of it. Now that we have ads and more and more players are joining, we don't want them to be abused by joining a crappy town where the will not be treated well at all. These signs have got to go unless these mayors are extremely nice and generous to these new players.

 

Put a sign board in the /warp alpha/beta with open towns to join?

You mean, like a list of open towns people can choose from?
you can do /t list but okay

 

You do realize that gives everyone and their dogs town name.

If new people are joining they aren't going to know that command.

It's a LOT easier to read a sign that days "hey these are some towns that are open and looking for residents."

The town can do whatever they want. I am sure that town put a lot of time into putting their town right near the spawn. There is no reason why they can't do that. Its like a billboard. I don't like it either, but it really isn't fair to the towns. If the players don't like the town, they can leave.

 

Maybe make the spawn a closed space. The main problem is that after they do join, they have no idea what to do afterwards, and no one is there to guide them since it's just a sign and not an actual person who can help.

There are hundreds of players who are fooled by those signs and end up losing their money. There are three mayors who took maybe 30 minutes to an hours maximum to make the signs. Since we have ads now, we have more people in towns. These players don't know that the signs will make them join bad towns. They join, have nowhere to go, lose all of their money, and end up quitting due to lack of help. If these towns keep their signs, they need to provide lots of care for these players. But they're not. These are not "build boards". These are false advertisements, tricking players into losing their money. This should already be classified as scamming. I understand you just think it's advertising. But if new people see the signs, join the town, and get no help, supplies, a plot, etc.; how do you think they will like the server? The answer is, they won't. Then, if they ever want to play on MineCraft, they wouldn't want to play here. We want to assist new players, and not scam them. These signs are bad for these players, and they have got to go.

Yes, yes, yes, yes. When I was new I joined Horneburg for a few hours but left after discovering the high tax rate. It's insane, really. We should work to make this a more positive experience for new players.

I could really care less about this. You don't complain about big giant billboards along the highway, so why do you complain about this? The reason its there is to help noobs to get a start on things. When they first join the server, after reading all the stuff at the towns world spawn, they are probably still confused. -1

 

First of all this suggestion does not involve you, it involves new players. You do not need to care.

I don't understand what build boards on highways have to do with MineCraft. Also, to answer your question, build boards on highways don't tell you to join towns that make you lose all of your money.

These towns do not help new players. No need to call them noobs. Also, these towns do not help new players. There aren't enough plots in these towns for them, and they don't get supplies. Then, they get lost, stressed, and just quit.

Don't make assumptions that you don't know are true. You think all new players that join are new to MineCraft and towns, are super stupid, and that you're better than all of them. Some players are really cool, and do have experience with towny servers. So instead of making false assumptions, think before posting.

Ahem, have you ever tried /t spawn SkySide? Unless I am spammed, cursed at, etc. I make plots for the residents. I abide by the rules. I have 322 mail and counting. Most players log on once, I make their plot, wait a week, they don't claim it after I tell them i've made it, its given to someone else.

 

+1 they are EXTREMELY annoying. Not to mention, really ugly. They mess up the towns world, and ruin the point in recruiting people.

 

I don't have any problem with SkySide itself. What I do have an issue with is that you went from 5 to 354 residents in a matter of weeks.

 

+1, those towns keeps taking residents from good towns with fair taxes, good deals etc.
