    Perception is everything.

If you're a staff, what kind of new responsibilities do you feel like you have? Do you see things differently?

And if you're a player, what things do you expect from them? What responsibilities do you think they should take?
(I'm doing a research project on how people see things, and I need a few examples.)

Let's see... If someone is voluntarily doing work for someone, then it's fine being lazy sometimes. However, if they are getting paid to do a certain job, they should be doing it and not slacking off. Now, these exact words came from an admin on this server. "I'll be honest with you, I'm getting paid to do this job" (being an admin). This admin that I'm talking about hates liars so damn much. So if this admin denies that he mentioned these words, then he's a hypocrite. I wish I could've recorded what he said but team speak rules states that were not allowed to record in there without consent of everyone in the channel.

I'm bringing this one up here because like I said, if people are getting paid to do their job, then they should work hard and make sure that they do it perfectly.

I feel like they are people who would help you out, be nice to you, show you around, be there if you need help with quiet a few things, not just minecraft, and to support and help the server.

Being a player staff needs to see things through their point of view and through the players. You cant have staff going around like (hmm I think you're wrong /ban)

The way I see it, being staff was an amazing experience. A good staff member should be someone who speaks their own mind, someone who you (a player OR staff) can trust to handle your modreqs, someone who's attitude is great, most important of all someone who is themselves when they handle your modreq. I used to love when players looked up to me for help and questions when I was staff. I remember all the fun it was and all the hard work I put into it. Staff don't get paid but hey, when you first apply for Helper it's something you just have to look at and say "yeah I want to help the server and I don't care if I get paid or not I just want to be staff" I really disliked it when players were rude, toxic (yeah call me a hypocrite right lmfao) being staff is like a journey: you go a long way, meet new people, make new friends and then some enemies. Point is you have fun, a wise man once said "this staff team is in fact a team" which is true, meaning you can communicate with each other and you overall just have a great time. If I were a new younger player I wouldn't care how perfect staff is or who's admin or who's super or whatnot but I would care if I had fun or not determining if I should stay. I feel as if nowadays it's nothing but sucking up and trying to be better than one another just for that very reason: wanting a promotion which is part of the reason I left. As a staff member people look up to you, people admire you, people WANT to be you. So embrace it, be thankful for what you already have and use it the proper way. Be the person who you want to be and not the lonely little suck up who no one likes and who everyone hates. As a player you don't really see what's going on with each individual staff member but trust me, no one is perfect. Call me stupid call me an idiotic 15 yeah old cus' guess what? I don't give 2 craps. Speak your mind and if you put yourself to the task you can achieve it.

For a paper? Interesting paper. I can do both since I was recently staff

It all depends on how deep you get into staff. Different levels of power provide different levels of insight. Helper's who aren't well versed in how staff worked before usually don't get a great feel for how it actually works until mod. When I became a mod, I was able to see how the top worked and understood what was really going on. You get to understand how a decision was made and how/why it was implemented beyond what was said in to the player or even in staff meetings. I put in a lot of hours into meepcraft while I was staff with one goal that I developed over time. I wanted to help players the best way I could. I realized everyone had what they were great at and what they did less effectively. I realized policy making, economic revisions, and "flaw finding"(examining all ways something could go wrong before its implemented) were my strong suits. So, I decided to focus on these aspects and help the community through this way because it was the best way I knew how to and I still hold this belief to this day that staff members should focus on their strengths. This is what I expected of myself.

I got to make a lot of players happy while I was staff and I saw people get really happy when I went out of my way to get them refunds they weren't entitled to and helping them find their way on meep and that felt good. I got to put some players in their place when they become too outrageously toxic, this was also a positive for me. I got to implement policy that bettered meep, I got to support potential staff members and see them surpass me, I got to do a lot that felt good.

The down side is, I got to see a lot and lot of negatives. I got to see how ineffective high staff is, both before and after cooleys. I got to see how mid tier staff get shut down by fuzzlr simply because he failed to understand what he was doing wrong. I got to see horrible policies implemented that made no sense. I got to see bad staff promoted and bad community members given helper. I got to see the dumb reasons behind horrible decisions and not be able to do anything about it because of my position. I got to see my time wasted on idea and tests never to be implemented and my fellow members go through the same thing. All this and I never got paid a dime.

As a now community member, I simply expect staff to do their job and not interfere with things they shouldn't. The theme for my "era" of staff is common sense and common sense rules. This has degraded a bit, but My boys Klutch and Del still hold this theme true so I know its still big for staff. Just use common sense, not your heart for things, and stuff usually turns out ok.

Thought so. But why would you "lie to my face" that night? You said you hated liars and now you're one? I know that you were lying about getting paid. It's obvious.
Everyone knows they aren't getting paid. However, for someone to say that they are getting paid to do their job, I guess they should be doing it and not mocking around.

I feel that helpers are meant to well help people. They are players on the server that really want to make the server better

Means everything to me. If I could quote you to use my message w/o it being considered plagiarism u got my heart junior.

Adding on to what junior said. The staff team are all volunteers. The community can't expect so much from them. They do the best they can. Honestly, if you think a staff isn't doing a good job, give them some slack. Just because they don't have ur answer doesn't mean they should be demoted or get hate for it (and trust me this happens wayyyyyy too much). As a staff member, stuff does get different, but with power comes great responsibility. Also... its minecraft. a game.... like come on guys, this isn't like Trump running for president 2k16.

Im sure there was some confusion. Again, have some chill. Klutch works his butt off for the server, and again... its a damn game.
