I'll admit stuff is worth less but I as well as others can easily make a lot of money still.

This is true, partially because we aren't currently getting new players to stay and partially because lots of people are leaving due to the slowness of some stuff, see below.
And then there's the fact that minecraft is a dying game altogether, it's lost a lot of popularity and hype so not as many people in general play it.

Little is/was getting done but they did just hire two new people as techs for the server. Meep got a lot worse but now I think it's on the rise again.
